In this episode of Undercover Crushers, we talk to AAC members Vasya Vorotnikov and Nadya Vorotnikova about how exactly they crush so hard. While Vas isn't totally undercover, he isn't as well-known as he deserves. He's a quiet phenom, having sent Jaws II in 2007 after the original climb Jaws, going at 14b, broke. The new version, Jaws II, was the second 5.15a in the United States. Nadya is likewise crushing, sending 5.14a a couple times in the last few years, and diving into route development in the South Platte of Colorado—one new climb that she contributed to, with her friend, Tal Wanish, is even featured in this year's ACJ! In this discussion, the siblings describe learning to climb in Russia when they were little, immigrating to the United States and starting to compete in junior level competitions in the early 2000s, and what has shaped them into the climbers they are now. We dive into sandbagging, breaththroughs, climbing as coping, coaching yourself, and being the kind of climbing partner that won't bail—even when you end up climbing in a snow storm. Nadya shares about turning to trad climbing to push her mental limits, after being burnt out from competitions, and what motivates her to give back to the climbing community. Plus, Vasya describes his volume goal from last year, when he set the goal to climb 365 NEW routes 5.12s and harder, 100 new 5.13s and harder, and 10 new 5.14s and harder, all on outdoor rock. Turns out, he far surpassed his goal…

On this special game day edition of The Mark White Show, I'm joined by Drew and Abby Stutts of Freed-Hardeman University. This story began with a message from a proud dad in the Shoals, Miles Stutts, who simply wanted to share what his children were accomplishing. That message led to a conversation about family, leadership, and a season that may be historic. Both Drew and Abby led their teams to number one seeds in the NAIA National Tournament, something we're being told may be the first time for one school, and possibly the first time a brother and sister have achieved it together. Now, the story meets real life. Abby's season has come to an end after an incredible run, while Drew's team advances to the quarterfinals. In this conversation, they share their journey, the role their family played in shaping them, what it means to lead young people, and how they handle both success and disappointment. This is more than a basketball story. It's a story about impact, perspective, and purpose. Real stories. Real people. Real impact. News That Unites!™️

John and Joanna Lin have lived in Allston since their parents moved there in 2015, and wanted a way to chronicle the gritty, artsy neighborhood they call home. They're calling the project "Allstonia."WBZ's Chaiel Schaffel reports:

The Lord views His church in very unique and specific ways – like a body, like a family, as a bride. In this message, I look at the family aspect of God’s view of His church. Is it even possible to interact as the church of God if we are not embracing the family dynamic? …
When you were growing up, did you get along with your sibling? When Leela and Jay Gilday were growing up in Northwest Territories, their dad wanted them to sing together more, but it wasn't until decades later that they did. Leela and Jay both have distinguished music careers on their own, but more recently, they've come together as the contemporary roots duo Sechile Sedare (“my younger brother, my older sister” in Dene). Earlier this year, they joined Tom Power to talk about their collaboration. Plus, they set up their new single, “Hold On.”

1 Kings 17:1-6 It's not until you step out of a situation, that looking back, you're able to see it really for it was! When you're in a smoke-filled room, it's hard to see the smoke, but exit the room and peer back in through the glass and you'll be astonished at how you ever could have been in such an environment and not have. As I look around and survey the spiritual landscape of the nation, I have to conclude that we are living in the midst of a spiritual famine that few are even aware we're in. Churches are closing by the week of and the British landscape is changing. Brethren, it is my conviction that unless God in His mercy sends another revival —an awakening, the likes of which this nation has not witnessed since the days of Wesley, the flickering light of present-day Christianity may soon be extinguished from these British Isles. Now I acknowledge that God will always have a remnant—7000 who have not bowed the knee to Baal, but Brother/Sister, where is the grief over the fact that the city once set on a hill has been removed, and the candle which once stood on a candlestick has been placed under a bushel! This sermon is a heart-cry, for another heaven-sent revival and a warning to those who have been placed in sound fellowships at this present time of famine, to not forsake where God has placed them, but to be grateful for the bread He has provided.

Often, where we are dispatched to a building that we know has automatic water flow in the event of the fire, we tend to expect that the water is flowing as designed and that all we will be left with is mopping up. Our guest on this episode of “5-Alarm Task Force!” is an engineer who designs water-flow systems, from the FDC outside to the sprinklers inside the facility. On this episode, E.J. stresses the issue that it is incumbent upon us, whether we serve a career, volunteer, part-pay, or paid-on-call, that we know our districts and what is being built in these districts. We should never assume anything, because there is often a chance that the building under construction three months ago will be the same three months later.Watch our video interview or listen to the audio podcast. Either way, you will learn about what you could face when you arrive at the building and that may be too late. ********************Please remember that we need your help to raise the funds we use to financially help a Brother/Sister and or their families, when they are in dire need. Siblings Olivia Hardy and Will Gao didn't always know making music together was in the cards. “I feel like the process was pretty organic,” Hardy said. “There was never like a, ‘Today marks the beginning of everything.'” But even so, music has always been a big part of their lives. Gao recalls there always being music playing in their childhood whether it was on the CD player or the radio. The two have gone on to form the band Wasia Project. They've released a handful of singles and EPs and toured with the likes of Grammy-award winning jazz singer Laufey and artist Tom Odell. The duo dropped their latest EP ‘Isotope' in August featuring tracks like ‘Is This What Love Is?' and ‘Somebody Come Through.' Hardy and Gao stopped by WBEZ's studios ahead of their sold-out Chicago show at Lincoln Hall for an interview with Reset host Sasha-Ann Simons. In the face of the hurricane, no one waved or had to think twice. They new their duty was to save anyone and everyone they could. Hurricane Helene has been rated the worst hurricane since Katrina! And we all know how that turned out. We are researching the news articles to determine who these brave men and women are and what we can do to help. Capt. Kory Pearn has over twenty years in the Canadian Fire Service. However, looking at the trades to provide more than photos and fire story articles, he did not find what he was searching for. Kory started thinking that firefighters need more than “hotshot” pics. He wanted to read a trade that would focus on firefighters' health and wellness. And when he was unable to find a trade like that, he created one of his own, “CRACKYL” Magazine.Kory is the publisher, Editor-in-Chief and CEO of CRACKYL Media, Inc. He is an industry author and keynote speaker, who acts as an enthusiastic mental health advocate, spreading awareness of what it takes to not only survive, but thrive in the dynamic job of firefighting. In this episode, Kory and I discuss two key topics for today's firefighters, whether in the USA, Canada or almost anywhere else there are firefighters. First, is “Looking at Life's Challenges,” and “Learning to Learn.”All too often, we tend to set specific limits on ourselves, i.e., family, finances, perhaps a second job, etc. However, how do our families see us when we tend to focus only on these topics? But how often do you look at yourself and think that all is fine? Sounds right - but it doesn't feel right. Tune in and let's see if Kory can help you with your focus, for the job, the family, and the community! ********************Please remember that we need your help to raise the funds we use to financially help a Brother/Sister and or their families, when they are in dire need. It is no secret that being a firefighter, career, volunteer, WUI, Paid-on-Call, etc., can take a physical and emotional toll on us. Often a rookie/probie takes a “lot of heat,” and that is before his/her have even rolled out of the station. One thing about this episode, you get the straight scoop. Wine is about history. It is about the story. All to often in many of life's endeavors, we forget the story, we forget the history. That is the reason history repeats itself. In Europe, a winery being run by the 5th or 7th or even 10th generation is not unheard of; it is what makes the wine industry so unique. California could never catch up, but there are legacies being formed from the original families who sought a life of the vine. Though the Leanardini family has only been at for 30 years (actually quite long for Napa), they are grooming their 3rd generation to take on the caretaking of the vines. Tom and Katie invited WIne Talks to the winery to hear about this lineage and more as we sat. Hear about their board meeting or their opinion of what the nouveaux group has to offer the Napa Valley scene.
