The Midwest band Cloud Cult is more than a band – it's a creative collective who continually celebrates life and love, and catharsis through music and multimedia performances (CloudCult.com.) They're also known for their ecofriendly ways of making and touring their music. Recently in 2022, their orchestral-folk-rock sound was expanded as they were playing and recording with the Minnesota Orchestra. Over the years, the band has embraced joy as an act of resilience, and their latest, Alchemy Creek was written, recorded and produced by front man Craig Minowa in the solitude of a tiny cabin on wheels and named for the nearby creek in the middle of the Wisconsin woods. The band plays some of these new songs, in-studio. - Caryn Havlik Set list: 1. The Universe Woke Up As You 2. One Human Being 3. Different Kind Of Day

Life is a rabbit hole of wonder, mystery, chaos, pain, and love, and these songs are here to help you hum your way through it.” (Cloud Cult's Facebook). Like all albums from this orchestral-folk-rock group, nature plays a big role in the LP. Founding member/frontman Craig Minowa wrote and recorded the new album in the remote woods of Wisconsin, tracking the album from an old Amish cabin he converted to a recording studio. The sounds from outdoors can be heard throughout the songs on Metamorphosis. Cloud Cult return to Seattle on Saturday, August 27th at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral. In the latest episodes, the guys look at Minnesotan indie-rock band, Cloud Cult. Lead by Craig Minowa, founder of Earthology Records, the band originated in 1995 as a solo project before evolving into the group we now know today. Specifically, we will be looking at their 2005 release, Advice From the Happy Hippopotamus. It’s a 25 track album that is as eccentric as its name will lead you to believe, as the band grapples with mortality and loss of a childlike innocence. Take care of yourselves and wash your damn hands.

Anhedonic Headphones Podcast 2 - Electric Boogaloo

There were a projected six episodes for the illustrious third season of the podcast, however, due to 'dat rona, only five of those episodes were recorded prior to 'social distancing' and 'self-quarantining,' and overall, the production and release of those five episodes was rushed and moved up. With that being said, for the first episode of season three, I welcome my co-worker Molly to the program. She and I have only worked together for like five or six months, but almost immediately after meeting her, I knew she'd be a great guest on the podcast; and I was right. We had some laughs, and we got really real, as Molly played a mix of tunes dating back through her high school years in Wisconsin, her early 20s in the Pacific Northwest, and her return to the midwest.  For more information about the AWARD WINNING music blog Anhedonic Headphones, click here! Episode 15 credits: The intro to the episode featured an instrumental version of "Labels," performed by GZA/Genius, taken from the 2012 Get On Down/Geffen/Universal Music Special Markets release Liquid Swords - The Chess Box (Instrumentals.) The song originally appears on the 1995 Geffen Records release Liquid Swords. The theme music is a YouTube rip of the intro to BET's "Rap City: The Bassment," airing from 1999 to 2005. In today's episode, we discussed: "Fast Car," written and performed by Tracy Chapman. Taken from the 1988 self-titled Elektra Records release. “No revolution can be won with negativity.” Craig Minowa is a composer and the lead singer of the indie rock band Cloud Cult (@CloudCult), and also the co-founder of Earthology Records. Cloud Cult has produced 11 albums in two decades, and in 2004, was named Artist of the Year at the Minnesota Music Awards. Earthology Records was the first record label in the U.S. to create 100% postconsumer recycled CD packaging. In 2002, Craig and his wife Connie unexpectedly lost their two-year old son Kaiden. This tragedy sent the couple into a long period of isolated grieving, where Craig wrote more than 100 songs to deal with the loss. He discusses the realities of this life event, music as a form of personal medicine, and the importance to talk about Kaiden and death in general.  Craig draws inspiration from “the big picture” issues of life and tries to develop music that recognizes the beauty in everyone and everything.  Craig and I recorded this interview at Papa Charlie’s in Lutsen, Minnesota, just hours before the band performed live in front of a sell out crowd on Feb. 11, 2017.
