It's time for Luke Pennock & Brendan Flaherty to review episode 177 and 178 of ECW, from September 10th & 17th, 1996. Discussed: clear dye jobs, the dead fish bridge in Regina, Lance Wright on trial (and how bullyable he is), the spoken word cadence in promos, the Fullington bloodline, Tyler's 7th birthday, how many stretcher jobs is too many stretcher jobs, the time that a “real journalist” came to the ECW Arena, Taz speaking French, the origins of the Death Valley Driver, and a whole lot more. We also chatted so much about WRESTLEMANIA XL, Peacemaker, the James Gunn vibe, and so many other increasingly nerdy tangents that there's a bonus extended version of this episode for all you knuckleheads on Patreon. Over 20 minutes of bull! Enjoy. Buy a shirt! Buy a shirt. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. (STINGER: AEW) Andrade El Idolo has arrived in AEW. He appeared live during a special Friday Night Dynamite last night...standing alongside Vickie Guerrero. QT Marshall & Anthony Ogogo beat Cody Rhodes & Lee Johnson. QT pinned Cody after Ogogo delivered a right hand to Cody's jaw. Dustin Rhodes beat Nick Comoroto in a Bullrope Match - hitting a bulldog from the second rope and then tying up Comoroto's legs to get the pin. The Young Bucks opened the show with a win over Pac & Penta El Zero Miedo. Pac was rolled up for the pin after interference by Brandon Cutler. The Bucks' plans for a post-match beatdown were interrupted by Eddie Kingston. Jungle Boy & Christian Cage beat Private Party. After the match, Matt Hardy dropped Christian with a Twist Of Fate on the entrance ramp. Red Velvet served up Just Desserts to beat The Bunny. Miro will defend the TNT Championship on Dynamite next Friday night...against Dark Order's Evil Uno. Jake Hager challenged Wardlow to an MMA Cage Fight on Dynamite in two weeks. Kenny Omega will defend the AEW Championship against Jungle Boy on a special Saturday Night Dynamite on June 26th. (STINGER: WWE) The location of SummerSlam will be revealed on Saturday. It'll be announced during the Belmont Stakes pre-race show on NBC. We already know the show is set to be held on Saturday, August 21st. Bayley will get another shot at Bianca Belair's SmackDown Women's Title at Hell In A Cell. Belair challenged Bayley on last night's SmackDown...and Bayley accepted. We got not one - but TWO - SmackDown Tag Title matches last night! The show opened with Rey & Dominik Mysterio beating The Usos to retain the gold. Dominik reversed Jimmy Uso's top rope splash into a roll-up. Jimmy actually kicked out, but the ref was out of position and made the 3-count. That led to The Usos getting another shot at the tag belts in the main event. That match ended with Roman Reigns running in to cause a disqualification. Reigns battered Rey & Dominik with the ring steps after the match. That was too much for Jimmy. He walked out on Roman...but Jey was conflicted as the show ended. Apollo Crews pinned Kevin Owens after a Death Valley Driver on the ring apron to retain the Intercontinental Title. Owens was weakened before the match by a backstage attack by Commander Azeez. Sami Zayn showed up after the match to beat up on Owens a little more. King Corbin pinned Shinsuke Nakamura. It appeared Corbin had taken back his stolen crown too. But his escape was cut off by Rick Boogs...and Nakamura made off with the crown yet again. Also last night, Carmella beat Liv Morgan. (STINGER: ROH) HOT SAUCE Tracy Williams is recovering...after he was hit by a car. He tweeted a picture Friday, showing himself in a neck brace. He said he'll be okay...but didn't elaborate on his prognosis. Williams is one-half of the Ring Of Honor Tag Team Champions alongside Rhett Titus. They have a title defense against Dragon Lee and Kenny King coming up on next weekend's ROH TV. Presumably, that match already happened during the last ROH TV taping. The NWA's When Our Shadows Fall pay per view is coming up on Sunday. Nick Aldis defends the Worlds Heavyweight Championship against Trevor Murdoch. Kamille challenges Serena Deeb for the NWA Women's World Championship. Plus, Aron Stevens & Kratos defend their tag titles in a 3-Way against Chris Adonis & Thom Lattimer...and the War Kings - Crimson & Jax Dane. Some big shows in Japan are coming over the next fews days. The Cyber Fight Festival is Sunday in Japan. The start time for the show is just before midnight Eastern time in the U.S.on Saturday night. Jun Akiyama puts DDT Pro's KO-D Openweight Championship on the line against HARASHIMA. And Miyu Yamashita defends Tokyo Joshi Pro's Princess Of Princess Championship against Yuka Sakazaki. (STINGER: New Japan) New Japan's Dominion show is coming up on Monday. The main event is Kazuchika Okada vs. Shingo Takagi for the vacant IWGP World Heavyweight Champion. El Desperado defends the IWGP Jr. Title against YOH. Plus, Kota Ibushi vs. Jeff Cobb. Chris Jericho responded to a report Friday that he is no longer under contract with New Japan. Jericho tweeted that he hasn't been under contract with the company since January of 2020. On last night's Strong…Satoshi Kojima teamed up with Karl Fredericks to beat Team Filthy's JR Kratos & Danny Limelight. Fredericks submitted Limelight with a single leg Boston Crab. The Brothers of Discussion give you all of the ins and outs of the best days for Pro Wrestling: Wednesdays. Now that NXT has a brother show in NXT UK, pro wrestling has hit its Zenith! We talk Heavy Machinery, Velveteen Dream heading into War Games, Gargano's promo, the beauty of Toni Storm and Dakota Kai's match, the NXT UK audience, and a couple of things happening on RAW and SmackDown. Check it out! We're one week away from the one year anniversary! ***********SHOW NOTES******************* Vic Joseph, Percy Watson, Nigel McGuiness -First things first! Heavy Machinery takes out The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake, Jaxson Ryker on the side of the ring), DOZ with an incredible pop up powerslam-the compactor avoided, gets Doz over -Kai defeated taynara Conti Johnny Gargano cuts promo of...not a lifetime...but like of a fortnight's worth, cuz hiz is usually gud -Velveteen Dream loses to Lars due to Ciampa interference, but he hit a damn impressive Death Valley Driver on Lars, that's a lot of beef to lift! But you keep the Leviathan relevant with the win NXT UK Dakota Kai loses to Toni Storm :( - only difference in these wrestlers is Toni Storm's beautiful hair and well placed facial structure. Dakota wrestles like a female Danny Burch, those kicks are strong, the pacing is perfect, the in-ring chemistry was really good, allowing Dakota to show the “scouting” of Toni and hit her running kick in the corner when Toni was sizing up her running knees in the corner Danny Burch loses to the Bruuuuuuuuiserweight -Trent Seven now the David Lee Roth of NXT UK, after we don't hear a peep from him in NXT Zac Gibson receives my favorite heat chant to tune of Seven Nation Army “Zaaaac Gibson's a Waaaankerrr” or “SHINY HEAD, SHINY HEAD” Totally different presentation style for UK, a lot more back and forth with the smaller crowd, less emphasis on camera angles, music, aesthetic, more focus on playing to the crowd and well...wrestling 6-man tag Coffey Brothers Wolfgang, Mark Andrews, Flash Webster Morgan, Ashton Smith Compare it to Velveteen Dream's pomp & circumstance or Lars Sullivan coming up without spotlight behind him, deliberate camera work RAW Drew McIntyre proves he's ready to be Universal Champion Authors of Pain win the tag titles SD LIVE Do we need AJ Styles or Becky Lynch to get the win at Survivor Series Nikki Cross makes her in-ring debut - the most exciting thing Sanity has been involved in since getting the call-up, i screamed along with Nikki's entrance song :) however, is this a real “call-up”, what with the Candace feud on the horizon? Or a Dakota Kai situation, where she'll kind of float between brands? Mysterio and Almas have a good match..but what the fuck… Miscellaneous: Stephanie mcMahon makes two big statements this week The WWE could be as big as Disney “If we're doing our job right, then we're always making new superstars” --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/brothers-of-discussion/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/brothers-of-discussion/support
