In Part 4 of the Jesus Takes series, the focus is on one powerful command: “Take up your bed and walk.” This moment in Scripture isn't just about a miraculous healing—it's about dismantling dependency. When Jesus spoke those words to the man who had been lying by the pool for years, He wasn't simply telling him to stand; He was telling him to leave the system that had defined his life. This take unpacks the deeper meaning of “rising, taking, and walking.” Rising is about stepping into wholeness. Taking your bed means removing the very thing you've been lying in—your comfort zone, your place of stagnation, your fallback plan. Walking means moving away from the patterns, environments, and support structures that kept you from living in the fullness God intended. As the discussion points out, “I'm taking you off this system… this way of doing things.”The challenge is clear: don't just get up; take what once held you and carry it out. True freedom requires both the miracle and the movement. When Jesus says “take,” obedience is the bridge to a completely new life. Get full access to REDIN30 at redin30.substack.com/subscribe

WHEN JESUS TAKES CONTROL

YES, of course Jesus rejects legalism, which is always about self-justification. But Jesus is not aiming at freedom for its own sake. Jesus is seeking to RETURN TO a way of observing the sabbath that has GOD at its center. Sabbath forms us and shapes us into a people who know deep in our bones that we are not the ones who control the world. God is. Support the Show.
There's a story in the book of John about a woman brought to Jesus. She's caught in the act of adultery, and an angry group of leaders bring her to Jesus, and they accuse her. We're told that they didn't really care about her, they were just testing Jesus. And, of course, Jesus' response is so perfect and beautiful. He defends her, and He reveals their hypocrisy. They came angry at her, but instead they leave angry at Him. So angry at Him, in fact, that they eventually murder Him. Isaiah tells us that God laid on Jesus the sins of us all. The punishment that should be mine has been put on Jesus. This is the way of grace. This is the way of the cross. This is our hope. "All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all." Isaiah 53:6 Bible Reference: John 8:10-11 radio.hopewithgod.com

It is the Tuesday of Holy Week, the week Jesus went to the cross to die and then 3 days later defeated sin and death by resurrecting from the grave. But before that Friday, Jesus still had a lot to do. His Father had much for Him to accomplish on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. One of those jobs was to confront the Pharisees and Sadducees, to warn them of the peril they were in and to offer redemption. Confront their hypocrisy and call them to repentance. Listen on to find out what happens on Tuesday. You can also turn to Matthew 23 to follow along.

It is now Tuesday of Holy Week and Jesus is heading back into Jerusalem. He is about to encounter a group of men who will hound His every move, looking for any opportunity to discredit His ministry and arrest Him. These men were part of a powerful religious organization called The Sanhedrin who are afraid of Jesus and His attack on their power and prestige. They were beginning to fear Jesus, and they were looking for ways to try to take Him down. Listen on to hear how Jesus fights these attacks and along the way teaches us how to be better disciples.

In Luke 7:36-50, Jesus took a man to where he didn't want to go. It's a place He takes all of us, but whether we do or don't want to go there says more about us than it does about Him. The post When Jesus Takes You Where You Don't Want to Go first appeared on White Pine Community Church.

Pastor Taylor Shippy - John 6:1-14 Whenever we hand over whatever it is we got, Jesus is capable of taking that, blessing it, and multiplying it to nourish and sustain and help people greater than we could ever imagine… Whether that be multiple people or perhaps a single individual in multiple ways… Whatever our loaves and fish might be is capable, in the hands of Jesus, is capable of being multiplied 5000-fold or more! When Jesus takes your lunch… things happen… We may not always see the miracle right away… or even ever… sometimes we do… But when Jesus takes our lunch miracles happen…

“In a sense, partisan politics, uncompromising politics are seen as, ‘Well that's the real problem,' and I think that moderate politics often does take a side, I just don't think it has the courage to say it.”In this episode of Called to be Bad–Jonny Rashid, pastor, and author of the book, “Jesus Takes A Side: Embracing the Political Demands of the Gospel,” shares his experience of living as an Arab-American during political upheaval in the United States, and his realization that politics are always personal. We discuss the dangers of moderate politics and how polarization may not be as “bad” as people often think they are.
