Baltimore Beatdown: for Baltimore Ravens fans

What's up everyone? The show is back this week with to talk some Ravens in an otherwise quiet part of the calendar with some actual concrete talking points out of Owings Mills. Joining Jake to bring them to you in the form of his observations from OTAs is site editor in chief Kyle P. Barber (@KylePBarber). Kyle has plenty to say on comments from the veterans like Mark Andrews and Marlon Humphrey, what he saw from the rookies in practice like Kyle Hamilton, and what he makes of what was a tough day for Rashod Bateman. Thanks everyone for listening, and we'll talk to you again very soon! No. 16: A trip to Pixar Mousetalgia's Best Ear Ever #4: A trip to Pixar from June 22, 2014. Kristen reports on an "Incredible" visit to Pixar in Emeryville! But first, we talk about the cost of a day at Disneyland (circa 2014) - do the recent price hikes change people's philosophies about visiting the parks, and if not, why? Team Mousetalgia discusses value vs. time vs. crowds, and we draw interesting conclusions. Next, a listener reviews the live action film "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride," Jeff announces a haunting new project, and then Kristen visits the Pixar Studios for an amazing day at the annual Cartoon Art Museum benefit. Highlights include a trip to the Pixar employee store, Pixar animator Jeff Pidgeon's drawing seminar, a Monsters U art display, lunch in the Luxo Cafe - and the highlight of the day, a panel discussing the Incredibles in honor of its tenth anniversary in the Steve Jobs Theatre, with a presentation by director Brad Bird and head of story Mark Andrews, among a stable of other Pixar animators that worked on the Academy Award-winning film. The NFL depth charts are pretty set! The rookies have landing spots! We now have a decent idea how the fantasy landscape will look come July! So it's time to put a stake in the ground and make some rankings. On today's podcast we'll tackle the scarcest position: running back. Beyond the first several names, there simply aren't a lot of sure things, and we'll talk about why. We'll also talk some about tight end ranks and why our first inclination is to once again *not* pay to get one of the highly rated ones. Fantasy draft strategy formulations begin now! On this episode of the Dear Pats Nation podcast with Ray Rauth, Producer Mike and I take a look at some of fantasy football options, NFL betting, and just some straight up NFL analysis. We promise you this isn't a typical fantasy show, it's not a typical football show, this has something for every football fan out there.  At some point during a fantasy draft, owners have to take a tight end. Last week I covered when to draft a tight end, and highlighted that no tight end should be taken in the first round, and only two tight ends should be taken in the second round. One of those tight ends is Kansas City Chiefs' Travis Kelce. Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, he's also one of the highest paid. Because the Green Bay Packers gave Rodgers a gigantic pay raise, Rodgers' favourite wide receiver Davante Adams was a cap casualty, and after being Franchise Tagged, Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite one of the best wide receivers leaving, the Packers are still a top five favourite to win the Super Bowl. Nobody wants to play for Bill Belichick. The only reason people ever wanted to join the New England Patriots was because of Tom Brady… That's the narrative, it's also not true.  Learn more about your ad choices. The Brodies return to discuss the 2021-2022 NFL season for the Baltimore Ravens. First, we start by looking at Latavius Murray and De'Vonta Freeman and the running attack of the Ravens as led by Lamar Jackson. Then we go to the defense and realize they weren't able to force too many takeaways last season, which could be in part due to injuries to Marcus Peters and Marlon Humphreys. Finally, they go back to the offense to give some true credit to the golden hands of Mark Andrews and Marquise Brown. As always, Theme music by The Riley Brothers Band. Slam the Gavel welcomes back Mark Andrews as he announces his Candidacy for US Congress, 9th District San Joaquin Valley, California in the Stockton area as an Independant. His slogan is "Future Forward Together," and this is very important to all of us. Mark addressed several issues that are important to his candidacy. Mark would like to introduce a Family Law Bill of Rights and this bill should go through the House and the Senate as some/most parents have gone through the Family Court system. We all have in common in Family Law: the Title IV-D funding that the Federal Government pays to each district to each community, to help them implement laws and enforce laws against families. They get serious bonuses for removing children through CPS, finding them foster parents and especially when they adopt them out after a two year period. Mark also spoke on how America was grown on the stability of the family. The Bradley Act guts this inadvertently. Lawyers that ended up being politicians, other politicians as well, Bradley was a Governor, they found out that if we get them into court as lawyers, and we keep them fighting all the time and we can break this up, we can keep getting funding. Keeping someone fighting for their financial benefit is WRONG. Judges have immunity? This was a great discussion as judges made this up themselves. The wolf is guarding the hen house. There needs to be judicial accountability. The children do not have a voice. Mark wants to be a candidate who stands up for the children and families as they are hurting the most. Mark also talked about how the Federal Government is denying water in the San Joaquin Valley for their crops. Farmers should be able to get water for their crops. We should be able to help farmers get their water at a fair price. The January 6th Insurrection should be looked into. Mark is of a clear mind that anyone in the House, Senate, anyone who participated in this treasonous action should be impeached from their position. Great discussion of a new and up coming candidate with excellent ideas and explained so thoroughly. In the early 1980s two bands dominated the independent charts: the Smiths and the Sisters of Mercy. They have proved to be equally influential. In every city in the world you will find people dressed like they have just walked offstage from playing a gig with the Sisters of Mercy in 1983.“Paint My Name in Black and Gold” tells the story of their rise – how against the odds and all reasonable expectation they came to make transcendent and life-changing music. It is also about the glorious stupidity of being in a Leeds rock band in the early 80s. There's a lot of dry ice, blood, vomit, speed and sex in the toilets. There are tales involving a milk float, a VHS cassette of a Michael Caine film, a hibernating snake, a wardrobe in a tree, an amyl nitrate-soaked effects pedal and the inopportune consumption of Dutch hash cake. The Sisters began in 1980, meandered through two years of intermittent gigging, iffy recordings and sundry line-up changes without much attention being paid to them before finding their two classic line-ups: Eldritch on vocals, Adams on bass, Gary Marx and Ben Gunn – and later Wayne Hussey – on guitars, and a drum machine called Doktor Avalanche.By force of will and their own peculiar talents – and with the support of friends and the kindness of strangers – these young men achieved greatness. Hussey and Adams – The Evil Children, as they termed themselves – were hard living road dogs with fascinating musical back-stories. Neither Gunn nor Marx were natural rock'n'roll animals, but the latter performed with such abandon – often in such lurid shirts – that it was hard to believe he also wrote The Sisters' most delicate and beautiful music. Lead singer Andrew Eldritch was the most peculiar and compelling of them all, a singular and mesmerizing amalgam of T. S. Eliot and David Bowie. In the five years covered in this book, Eldritch staked a powerful claim to be the greatest rock star of his generation.Paint My Name in Black and Gold covers the band's rise until the release of their iconic first album.Mark Andrews is a journalist from the UK now living in Belgium. The first musician he ever interviewed was Lemmy – for the Folkestone Gazette in October 2003. Most recently, he has interviewed Jon Spencer, Boss Hog, Mudhoney and The Scientists. He has written for the Middle East Times, Egypt Magazine, LeftLion, Flanders Today, The Quietus and Louder. This book grew out of two acclaimed articles he wrote about the Sisters of Mercy for The Quietus.Purchase a copy of “Paint My Name in Black and Gold” through Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Paint-My-Name-Black-Gold/dp/1800180381Purchase an e-book copy of “Paint My Name in Black and Gold” through Unbound Books: https://unbound.com/books/sistersofmercyPurchase Wayne Hussey's book "Salad Daze": https://www.amazon.com/Salad-Daze-Wayne-Hussey/dp/1785586602/refJoin the Heartland Sisters of Mercy Forum here: https://www.myheartland.co.ukJoin the Sisters of Mercy 1980-1985 Facebook group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/The-Sisters-Of-Mercy-1980-1985-Group-1704379173138423Listen to a playlist of the music discussed in this episode: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/77NASBGupvv58UuoJcoHy2?si=1e562f4a0dc748f5The Booked On Rock Website: https://www.bookedonrock.comFollow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/bookedonrockpodcastTWITTER: https://twitter.com/bookedonrockSupport Your Local Bookstore!
