When talking about some of the best female rap albums, we at Bring The Noise Podcast believe Bahamadia's 1996 album Kollage belongs in that category. With production from DJ Premier, Guru and Da Beatminerz, Bahamadias smooth yet complex lyrics put this album in that classic category that does not get discussed enough. https://www.tiktok.com/@brandonhetzel996?_t=ZT-8uY9R6uk4pq&_r=1 https://www.instagram.com/str8clippa?igsh=MXVpbmR3bmwweWNxOQ%3D%3D&utm_source=qr https://www.facebook.com/share/1BVqnmk4tJ/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Film Fact: Geena Davis made history by being the first actress say, "Suck my d*ck" in a major motion picture. Yes, Geena's then-husband Renny Harlin pulled out all the stops in an effort to make a tough-as-nails action hero out of the Oscar winner. Though the film made back more than its budget, it didn't quite blow up the box office or ignite critics' hearts. So, why is this one of co-host Brian's favorite movies? As is tradition, for Brian's birthday, Christina watched a flick she's never seen before. Is Brian still smitten with this "long kiss"? Did Christina like it at all? The Old Roommates buckle up for an explosive discussion of this 1996 epic action film. Listen to this.Old Roommates can be reached via email at oldroommatespod@gmail.com. Send us a textPut on your bowling shoes, grab your ball, and roll right into this one. We're talking Kingpin from 1996! Starring Woody Harrelson, Randy Quaid, Bill Murray, and Vanessa Angel, the second Farrelly Brothers movie may have been a gutter ball in theaters, but it was a strike to us. There's a lot to like, most notably an all-time comedic performance from Bill Murray. A road trip movie with an odd couple relationship, Kingpin reminded us of a host of other similar movies. WHAT THE PARADOX? It's the end of the time loop as we know it and Voyager feels fine -- kinda, sorta. Getting back from 20th century Earth isn't without its complications though, as Captain Janeway discovers that American capitalism is as evil as the Borg when Henry Starling reveals that he plans to travel to the 29th century in his stolen time ship despite her warnings that such a trip would cause a temporal explosion. Meanwhile, Tom Paris and Rain Robinson grow so close that Sarah Silverman has off-screen stories about making out with some of the show's actors during her guest stint; Chakotay & B'Elanna are captured by militiamen; and, The Doctor gains the ability to leave Sickbay, forever altering the character. Ah, but do all these qualities make the episode a TREK, MARRY, or KILL?The grades begin at (20:28).
“Oh, what interesting china. It looks like young men playing leap frog.”Talking About The Birdcage with our guest, voiceover actor JP KarliakGet ready to fly away with laughter on this episode of Movies We Like! This week, we're joined by the incredibly talented JP Karliak, the voice behind beloved animated characters like Morph from X-Men '97 and Boss Baby in, you know, Boss Baby. When Armand's son announces his engagement to a conservative senator's daughter, comedic chaos ensues as they try to navigate their differences and create a "normal" family facade for the sake of the wedding. We dive deep into the film's hilarious premise, its message of acceptance, and the unforgettable performances by Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman, and Dianne Wiest. JP shares what draws him to the film's themes of family, identity, and the importance of staying true to yourself, even when it's messy and unconventional.Of course, we couldn't have JP on without getting a glimpse into his impressive career in voice acting! He gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the process of bringing animated characters to life, the challenges and rewards of the job, and the unique joys of working in such a creative and collaborative industry. So grab your feather boas and get ready for a delightful conversation about a timeless comedy classic! The Birdcage is a film that reminds us to embrace our true selves, find humor in the most unexpected places, and celebrate the power of love and acceptance. This time we picked up a very hard to find story, “A Situation of Gravity,” by Samuel W. Taylor, which was adapted into the 1961 movie The Absent-Minded Professor and the 1996 remake Flubber. The story was originally published in the May 22, 1943 issue of Liberty magazine. We couldn’t find that. It was also anthologized in … Continue reading Flubber Colonoscopy! Olympic great Briana Scurry was the goalkeeper for the historic, gold-medal-winning U.S. Olympic Women's Soccer Team in 1996, the year women's soccer debuted at the Olympics. From her childhood dreams of sporting glory to her personal triumphs and challenges, Briana reflects on a pioneering career defined by extraordinary resilience and determination. She discusses her fight for equal compensation for women's soccer, the "angels" in her life, and overcoming the tragic circumstances that led her to pawn — and eventually recover — her gold medals.

It's July 4th and it's beyond me that we haven't covered the 90s patriotic classic, Independence Day until now. Never fear, I'm here with Dustin from @therewatchrecap to get into it. This movie meant so much to us growing up and we talk about our long history with it, the sequel that I regrettably saw in theaters, how this casting is perfect (ahem Jeff Goldblum and Judd Hirsch), and reminisce about the best movie President we've ever had. Off-topic rants: the state of Hollywood and the film industry, Judd Hirsch memories, more 90s nostalgia Ethan Hawke on Independence Day"Let's kick the tires and light the fires, big daddy!"

In this episode of Overlapping Dialogue, we eagerly head full speed into the danger zone with two thrilling disaster pictures intent on traumatizing their characters and relentlessly entertaining their audiences: Black Sunday and Twister! But before we masochistically chase storms of both the physical and emotional variety, we stock up on a Blue Plate Special selection focusing on some new releases (In a Violent Nature) and filmmakers (Jane Schoenbrun, director of We're All Going to the World's Fair and I Saw the TV Glow) that hopefully suggest that maybe the spirit of cinema isn't dead after all. Eventually, we abandon all decorum and good sense by embracing the chaos of our double feature: join us as we delight in the unabashed 70s-ness of John Frankenheimer's B-movie epic (we also take the opportunity to induct not one but *two* members into our Hall of Fame, the Immune) and celebrate Jan de Bont's fabulous piece of 90s nonsense, filled with more of its era's character actors than any act of nature could every whisk away. 1996 in Port Arthur, Tasmania, a small island that is part of Australia, a mass shooting took place. It was and still is one of the most significant events in Australia's history. We refer to it as Australia's 9-11. But, what took place is under much debate. Did a lone gunman pull it off? Was the government involved? Did they actually do it themselves? There are a lot of questions surrounding this event. The catalyst that led to Australian citizens basically being disarmed as a nation.Email us at: downtherh@protonmail.com

Live nude girls! Now that we have your attention, let's discuss 1996's lesbian-lovers crime thriller, Bound. Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon stole scenes while their characters stole mafia money. Upon release, people couldn't stop talking about the Wachowskis stylish directorial debut … they just couldn't see it. Available only in limited release then, the film achieved iconic LGBTQ status on DVD. But now, decades later, were we all hot and bothered for nothing? The Old Roommates pour some black coffee (of course) and discuss Bound through their middle-aged lens. Listen to this.Old Roommates can be reached via email at oldroommatespod@gmail.com. It's once again time for a Please Make This Minisode! Movie Table Talk is exactly what it sounds like, a group of pals sitting around a table talking about a movie. This time around, the group is talking about The Birdcage (1996) in which a cabaret owning couple put on a ruse to help their son who demands they act normal for to meet his fiance's conservative family. Hilarity ensues! Join us at the table and let's have some fun!
You're darn tootin' we're giving this 1996 Oscar winner a rewatch. The snow-covered sleeper hit and critical darling, the Coen brothers' Fargo captured audiences with its dark humor, nifty accents, and one oft-talked about woodchipper scene. Now, decades later, has the kidnapping comedy's charm worn off? Can the film's cold tone be forgiven with a few well-placed "You betcha" line readings? And, now that Frances McDormand has three Best Actress Oscars, how does Fargo really stack up? The Old Roommates brave the elements and give it all a rewatch through their middle-aged lens. Meghan's best friend, S.E. Cupp, came in studio to talk about all of the things. They talk about mental health, anxiety, how cynical broadcasting has become, and how hard it is to maintain your identity once you become a mother. Then they get into all things Bravo, since S.E. is a Bravo Whisperer... she was one of the first people to know about Scandoval! Then, Capitol Hill icon, Newt Gingrich joins Meghan to talk about the state of the GOP, why he wants the Republican nominee to choose a female VP, and what he has in store for the holidays.
