Rich, Gav and Chris sat down to finish the promotion Pod trilogy with a discussion surrounding the Sunderland management saga this year - looking at the rise and fall of Lee Johnson, the rise and rise of Alex Neil, the decision making of Kristjaan Speakman and the recruitment team. As well as a quick look over the players let go by the club, and the contract negotiations currently underway! What's the crack? How happy are the lads that - despite the chaos of that transition from one manager to another - we have Alex Neil at the helm now?How much credit does the gaffer get for his handling of everything since his arrival, and what did they make of his approach to the final against Wycombe? What do they think are the main differences between the two men who took charge of our campaign this season - it appears both did exactly what we were told they were brought in to do doesn't it?Kristjaan Speakman - all things considered, has he done enough to convince fans he's the man for the job? Has the appointment of Alex Neil - now promotion has been achieved - saved his skin?Recruitment - We've had more hits than misses this season, so could we have done better? Who actually gets the credit for certain signings, and how many do the lads think we need to bring in through this transfer window? How happy are the lads looking at the retained list, and did any of the releases and contract offers surprise anyone? How many times have we watched last weekend back? All this and much more - Cheers for listening lads and lasses!#SAFC #EFL #EFLPlayoffs #AlexNeil See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

A special welcome to those of you listening on TheWrestlingRevolution.com. If you want to bring our updates to your website...email us: desk@justprowrestlingnews.com. We're being reminded that we are far from done with COVID-19. The global pandemic is altering plans in multiple promotions. (STINGER: NJPW) Will Ospreay is among the latest to test positive for COVID. New Japan pulled Ospreay from Sunday's Wrestling Dontaku show. Ospreay was scheduled to battle Hiroshi Tanahashi for the vacant IWGP United States Championship. Tomohiro Ishii will now step into the title match. Tatsumi Fujinami is also off the Dontaku card after testing positive for COVID. In Pro-Wrestling NOAH, Kazuyuki Fujita has vacated the GHC Heavyweight Championship after he tested positive for COVID. Go Shiozaki will wrestle for the vacant title on NOAH's show on Saturday. His opponent has not been announced, but Kaito Kiyomiya challenged Shiozaki at a news conference on Wednesday. (STINGER: AEW) The main event is officially set for Double or Nothing. Hangman Page will defend the AEW Championship against CM Punk. The match was announced on last night's Dynamite. But Hangman was not there for it. He missed the show due to - you guessed it - COVID-19. Scorpio Sky is once again the TNT Champion. He took the title from Sammy Guevara in the main event of last night's Dynamite. Rey Fenix returned to AEW TV for the first time since a gruesome arm injury in January. He and the rest of Death Triangle staged a surprise attack on the House of Black. This is especially good news for fans looking forward to seeing Fenix in action Saturday…at AAA's Triplemania show in Monterrey, Mexico. Getting back to last night's Dynamite, Wardlow beat Lance Archer. MJF hinted at Wardlow's next opponent. (MJF Teases Morrissey) That clip from last night's Dynamite. In the battle of FTR, Dax Harwood pinned Cash Wheeler with a rollup to qualify for the Owen Hart Foundation Men's Tournament. Serena Deeb forced Hikaru Shida to submit to the Texas Cloverleaf in their Philly Street Fight. AEW Women's Champ Thunder Rosa was shown watching backstage. The Undisputed Elite - Adam Cole, reDRagon & the Young Bucks - complete with t-shirts for the newly minted group beat the Varsity Blonds, Dante Martin, Brock Anderson & Lee Johnson, who took the pin. The Blackpool Combat Club beat The Factory's Aaron Solo, Nick Comoroto & QT Marshall. The Jericho Appreciation Society laid out Santana, Ortiz & Eddie Kingston - including Chris Jericho throwing a fireball in Kingston's face. (STINGER: ROH) The undisputed Ring of Honor Women's Champion will be decided on next Wednesday's Dynamite. The current champion, Impact Wrestling's Deonna Purrazzo will face Mercedes Martinez, who won the interim title last month at Supercard of Honor. (STINGER: Impact) The Impact World Championship is on the line on tonight's episode. It's a Rebellion rematch, with Josh Alexander defending against Moose. Plus, Knockouts Champion Tasha Steelz & Savannah Evans vs. Decay's Havok & Rosemary…Honor No More's Eddie Edwards, Matt Taven & Mike Bennett vs. Speedball Mike Bailey & The Motor City Machine Guns… Bhupinder Gujjar vs. VSK… The Briscoes will be on tonight's show. The IInspiration announced Wednesday they are stepping away from in-ring action indefinitely. There's an MLW Heavyweight Championship match on tonight's Fusion. It's the Intimidation Games main event - with Alex Hammerstone defending the gold in a 3-way against Jacob Fatu and THE BLACK HAND OF CONTRA Mads Krugger. Plus, Microman, Aramis, & KC Navarro vs. Arez, Mini Abismo Negro & Gino Medina (STINGER: WWE) Today's NXT UK will feature a contract signing for next week's championship match between Ilja Dragunov and Jordan Devlin. Plus, Xia Brookside will be in action. Turning back to Japan, Stardom has a big show on Friday. The Cinderella Tournament winner will be crowned. The semifinals have MIRAI vs. Natsupoi and Koguma vs. Saya Iida. The winners meet in the final later in the show. Also on Friday's card: Syuri defends the World of Stardom Title against Himeka…and AZM defends the High Speed Title against Mei Suruga. ZERO1 announced an inter-promotional event on June 4th to raise funds for injured pro wrestling legend Shinjiro Ohtani. New Japan and NOAH will be part of it.. Well Lads and Lasses… what started out life as a mere Sunderland AFC v Cambridge Utd preview became something else entirely, as our Chris Wynn was joined for a couple of hours on Thursday night by a legend of broadcasting - Mark Saggers - to go over not only his love for Cambridge Utd, but his surprising family ties to Sunderland AFC - as well as his 40 years in the business of sports broadcasting and journalism… It's an epic! What's the crack? Where do we begin? Saggers let's us in on his family history and his links to Sunderland as a club and a city, including his first visit to Roker Park in the 1960's! Chris gets his deep-dive fix as Mark details his amazing journey through the ever changing world of broadcasting… from Muhammad Ali to Jimmy Carter, from Terry Wogan to Stan Collymore, from covering the Olympic games to the World Cup (and the occasional horse race) Saggers has seen a lot. What moments stand out so far in his long career? His love of sport in general - particularly football and cricket - and his experiences at Cambridge Utd with the likes of Chris Turner, Gary Johnson, John Beck and many more... as well as watching a certain Lee Johnson grow up; The lessons he learned from legends of broadcasting at the BBC, and many stories from a time when journalists were a very real conduit between fans and their clubs; The birth of Sky and Sky Sports - Saggers tells us of the years of rogue broadcasting, the occasional almost accidental interview and the pursuit of the story - as Sky and Rupert Murdoch changed the face of sports and news broadcasting in the UK and across the world; His time at Talksport and the insanity of the era, as the lads just took what they could get and ran with it - often with hilarious results; His relationship with former England Manager Terry Venables; having to take Tel to the Ritz in the build up to Euro 96 and securing the exclusive interview ahead of his then rivals at the BBC and ITV. Saggers talks about gambling harm and recovery, and his work with Betknowmore UK on a series of Podcasts highlighting his struggles and the struggles of others; If you're rushing for time ahead of the match and want to jump into the preview ahead of the match between Sunderland and Cambridge - jump ahead to around 1:23:00 - listen to a few insights on how the U's are doing this season under Mark Bonner, and when you get the chance… come back and listen to the rest of the tale! Chris and Mark wax lyrical about League One and the rest of the English game. Where is elite football headed? Does Saggers approve of the direction it's taken and may take in the future? Will the almost universally despised 'Super League' rear it's head again in some form or another? Mark tells us about his new venture on Talk TV as he launches a brand new show - The Sunday Night Club - which starts May 1st; what issues in sport does he aim to highlight as he moves forward to another chapter in his career? Eight days to save Sunderland's season - does Saggers think we can do it?All this and so much more. A pretty wild ride through many different eras from a man who may well have seen it all… Enjoy! #SAFC #EFL #CamUTD #Saggers #TalkSport See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Chris Wynn was joined by pub crawl extraordinaire (and ITV Tyne Tees Sports Reporter) Simon O'Rourke - to look back at what's happened at the Stadium of Light since last we spoke in September, and ahead to a nerve-racking end to Sunderland's 21/22 campaign in League One. What's the crack? Right. Quite a bit has happened since the heady days of challenging for the automatics... Where do we begin? How does Simon feel about the last few months in particular - what did he make of the spectacular collapse and the chaos that ensued? What did Simon make of the signing of Jermain Defoe? Did it make any sense to him? Kyril Louis-Dreyfus - does Simon feel the club should've done better with the PR disaster that was sharegate? What would he have preferred they do? The end of Lee Johnson's time at the club - that wasn't the way to go about it all was it? Did he agree with the decision or does it lead to a few questions about the experience level of the people involved? “To run a football club, you have to be a bit of a b**tard” - Simon gives us his idea of a professional removal/replacement process. Alex Neil - What has he made of the new gaffer so far? Is it safe to say the pressers are a wee bit shorter than he became used to? What does Simon think of the performances under AN? Does he like the man, and more importantly, does he think the fans/club will give him time? Does Kristjaan Speakman and the rest of the hierarchy have to shoulder responsibility for what's occurred since January 1st? Could they have done better, and can they learn from this? The 21/22 League One run-in... Are we going to make it? Do we have the time? Does Alex Neil need this international break right now? WHAT DO WE DO SIMON? Simon says: get promoted lads. Gav was joined yesterday by our Phil and SSN's MLF - the lovely Tom White - to go over Sunderland's win at the DW Stadium; looking back at the transfer business and managerial saga, and looking forward to Charlton's next attempt to once again f*** everything up for Sunlun. What's the crack?Gav finally gets to say something positive about Sunderland after the chaos and heartbreak of the last month or so...We get Tom's thoughts on the performance on Saturday - did he see that coming at all?Alex Neil thinks football is often ruined by people talking too much bollocks - so what has he been saying to the lads on the training pitch about the simplicity of the beautiful game?A bit of a retrospective about the timing of the sacking of Lee Johnson, the transfer window business in general, and the Keano and Kongolo deals/talks falling through - as Tom is all ITK and well... we're interested. Can Sunderland turn this into a run - is anyone confident about our chances of getting to the play-offs off the back of this result?Charlton are coming up - how vital is that for what comes next as we strive (now against the odds) for promotion?Max Power got a bit of stick on Saturday - Tom wonders why we keep booing lads who people may not have liked, but who didn't leave the club on bad terms with the fans? All this and much more!
