Transparency and accountability and historical awareness are some of the most important pillars of democracy. Historical revisionism is an affront to that democracy. And enforced disappearances, where the police or military or paramilitary forces knock on your door and kidnap you, has always been the bedrock of such revisionism. In this episode with Wulan Kusuma Wardhani and Celia Sevilla, we will talk about the cases of enforced disappearance in Indonesia and the Philippines, mechanisms for dealing with enforced disappearances, and what kind of regional solidarity that we need to tackle this issue. EDITORS NOTE: At about 13:00, Jason discusses carb icing and states 72 degrees. The answer, according to an AOPA Safety Brief, is up to 100 degrees F at 50% humidity. Here is the link to the Safety Brief. https://www.aopa.org/-/media/Files/AOPA/Home/Pilot%20Resources/ASI/Safety%20Briefs/SB09.pdf
Welcome to Navy Sports Central - The Official Podcast of the Navy Sports Nation! In this episode, we'll get into some of the reasons for the football team's rough start to the year as well as what the future looks like following the loss to Air Force. And as always, we'll take a look at how the fall season is shaping up with some of the other sports, get your thoughts on the Question of the Day, and check in with the two athletes we're featuring in our Mid Watch segment.EDITORS NOTE:At the 18:45 mark, there is a reference made to Xavier Arline needing to be more patient with his reads. Though it is implied, I wanted to be clear that I was referencing times the rare occasions when the Mids' throw the ball. Of course when running the ball, making the correct read quickly is critical. And there's still a bit of a learning curve for the Navy QBs in that area. Kieran and Matty D attempt to predict the plot of the upcoming G.I Joe origin story: "Snake Eyes", just based on the promotional material alone. Will this new take on the character finally breath new life into the stale action-figure movie franchise? Or Snake Eyes be taking a trip to the second-hand shop? Because guessing is the other half of the battle. Editors Note: At the time of recording, only one official trailer had been released for the movie. A second, more detailed trailer has since been released. WARNING: This podcast may contain potential spoilers (but then again, it may not).

This week Laurence & Dan discuss the third entry in the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series with THPS3. This is a massive nostalgia hit for millennials, but besides the soundtrack, does this game still hold up? Editors Note: At one point in the episode Laurence says there is a secret level in this game that features a 'Kiss' concert, after reviewing we realised that that level features in THUG, not THPS3
Simply Soundbites is a new mini-series on the Simply Stated Podcast, where the guest of the week explains a complex topic or definition from the news in ten minutes or less. Today we ask Darryle Rude, Chief Examiner at the Utah Department of Financial Institutions, what an Industrial Loan Corporation is(also known as an Industrial Bank or ILC). Editors Note: At 3:28, we discuss a "loophole" for ILCs. From a technical perspective, it is an exemption for ILCs, not a loophole.
Kieran and Matty D put on their detective hats and attempt to solve the mystery of the plot to "Knives Out", with no clues except for a single trailer and a series of posters. Who will be the one to crack the case, and who will end up with a knife in their back?EDITOR'S NOTE: At the time of recording, only one trailer had been released. However, a second trailer (with more plot details) was released the day before this episode was posted. WARNING: This podcast may contain potential spoilers (but then again, it may not).
Kieran and Matty D tackle their biggest challenge yet, and attempt to predict the plot of the upcoming mobster movie "The Kitchen" without even having a trailer to rely on. WARNING: This podcast may contain potential spoilers (but then again, it may not).
*EDITOR'S NOTE* At 37:04 in the episode, there's an intentional 'beep' to censor the name of the game Pat was talking about. It was done so for two primary reasons: First, because there are 2 games of similar names and it would be unfair to spread confusion and Second, the game in question no longer exists, so no reason to dwell on the past for long. Welcome to Episode 016 of the Grey Muzzle Geekery podcast for the week of May 27th, 2019! PA-S, FML: Inside PA School, from a Real PA Student with stories, studying, and advice.
Type 2 Diabetes is everywhere, and if your idea of how to treat it consists primarily of metformin, then you're managing diabetes the same way we did the last time New Kids on the Block were popular (no offense to NKOTB, it's just a 90s reference). Bring your knowledge of how to treat diabetes 25 years into the future as PA Kay goes over what the PANCE wants you to know for Type 2 diabetes. But the icing on the cake (whoops, bad analogy) is the behind-the-scenes knowledge from PA Kay's endocrinology rotation; learn what the diabetes experts wish primary care providers knew about how to treat this ubiquitous chronic disease. EDITOR'S NOTE: At the end of the episode when PA Kay keeps saying "glucagon," she really means "glycogen." Her bad, apologies.

It's 1-Star Reviews all around this week as we look at the top ten movies of 2011 and it's not the world's most inspiring list, filled with franchise bloat and soaked through with sequel sogginess. There are a couple of gems and some fun times, but, for the most bankable movies of any year, the general picture is pretty sad. Smurfs, Transformers, Muscle Cars, more sodding sparkly vampires, it's enough to make you want to drink, drink, drink until oblivion takes you, only to wake up the next day in some unknown location with no hair and a leopard in the bedroom. And yet, we didn't, and neither did anyone we know. All in all 2011 appeared, upon the surface of it, to be a pretty enjoyable year for movies, certainly the upcoming summer of 2013, infamous as the "Summer of Various Disappointments" had more to be glum about, so what gives? It would appear that the masses were swayed towards big, solid, bankable, critic-proof franchise fare, which is fine and fair enough when you're talking martial arts pandas, talking cars or super spies who may, or may not, be getting on a bit now. But the wonderful thing about 2011 is that it allowed us to have our own dreams, there were many smaller, non-top ten movies that filled in the aching void of hunger for something a bit more substantial. Great, Leo managed to get through that whole set up blurb without mentioning Captain America or Thor. Now to move on to next week, where he won't be mentioning them either. EDITOR'S NOTE: At one point in this episode Leo boldly proclaims that Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor made x "thousand" dollars at the box office, he, of course, meant x "million" dollars but failed to catch his own mistake. I have covered it up as seamlessly as I can, hope no one notices...
*Editor's Note: At this time, Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway Ride is not replacing Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin. We apologize for the misinformation. On this episode, I'm joined by Katherine (my wife) and Elizabeth (my Sister-in-law) for Part 1 of 3 of our Disneyland Trip Report. We share our experience attending Mickey's Halloween Party. Joining me from Tulsa, Oklahoma, through the magic of modern technology and via Skype, is an old friend from college that I legitimately have no seen or talked to in a decade. Kersten Nagle, owner and operator of Kersten's Antiques, is here to usher in a new era of appraisals, and she's on a mission to authenticate that the antiques business is absolutely where a younger generation can flourish and leave their mark. After all, 'antique' is not a dirty word, it's just sometimes dirty stuff. (My words, not hers) [Editor's Note: At some point in the episode, she mentions being in the process of publishing some papers, but I misunderstood and made it sound like she was already published. She wanted to make sure she didn't misrepresent herself, and I wanted to let you know that it was my mistake and not hers. I think that's mighty professional of her, and I constantly wonder why I'm allowed to host a podcast.] Find her online: http://www.kerstensantiques.com http://www.facebook.com/kerstensantiques Find SCTG online: http://www.patreon.com/sctg http://www.facebook.com/soclosetogreatness
EDITORS NOTE: At the 17:25, our sermon recording was interrupted. We were able to capture the remainder of the sermon from a different audio source, but we lost 3-4 minutes of the sermon. When the recording picks back up, you can hear Brandon discussing how God's house is characterized by obedience. He cites Hebrews 3:1 just before the audio resumes: “Therefore, holy brothers, you who share in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession…” Selected Quotes: “The house of god is characterized by the holiness of God.” "Most disobedience comes down to an issue of distrust. We don’t trust God to be who He is or to do what He’s promised to do. If you are in a season of disobedience to God, it means you are distrusting Him in some way. Confidence and hope look like obedience.” “We take care of God’s house by taking care of one another."
In Episode 46 of Accredited Investor Markets Radio host Chris Cahill talks with Roy Friedman, Executive Vice President of Dillon Gage, about how to invest in physical quantities of precious metals including gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. They discuss how such investments fit into a portfolio, and the relationships among precious metals prices, the price of oil, and the strength of the U.S. dollar. Learn more about Roy Friedman and Dillon Gage Metals here. Or you can find them here: Twitter: @DillonGage Facebook LinkedIn YouTube About Roy Friedman (Editor's Note: At the time of this recording, Roy Friedman was Executive Vice President of Dillon Gage. He has since resigned this position and is now Executive Vice President of Manfra, Tordella & Brookes) Roy Friedman is a well-respected trader and commentator in the field of precious metals and global financial markets. He is Executive Vice President of Business Development for Dillon Gage Metals, one of the largest precious metals dealers in the United States. After earning degrees in economics and political science in 1980 from the State University of New York at Binghamton, Mr. Friedman began his very successful career in the precious metals industry. His initial experience was at Mocatta Metals, where he worked as a clerk on the commodity exchange trading floor where he remained for four years. Mr. Friedman next accepted a trading position with A-Mark Precious Metals and stayed until late 1988, when he left to become a trader at the French investment bank Credit Lyonnais. In 1990, he was recruited by Rudolf Wolff, the founding member of the London Metals Exchange. Here his main focus was to create the company’s inaugural precious metals division based in New York. Under the direction of Mr. Friedman as vice president, Rudolph Wolff enjoyed much success, including expanding the division to incorporate a 24-hour trading desk with an office in London and eventually a global foreign exchange division. Building upon his previous successes, in 1998 Mr. Friedman started his own company, RF Capital Management, and partnered with a European business professional to provide asset management for high net worth clients. In 2002, Mr. Friedman returned to A-Mark Precious Metals as a vice president. Having joined Dillon Gage in January 2012, Mr. Friedman said “I am very excited to be able to continue my career with one of the largest and most respected precious metals dealers in the industry”. In addition to Mr. Friedman’s vast trading knowledge, he has held several commodities and securities licenses as well as being a Commodity Trading Advisor and a Commodity Pool Operator.
