Ryan SinnTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Ryan Sinn. Ryan Sinnott is the bass player for the pop punk band The Distillers, and the founding bass player for the pop punk band Angels & Airwaves. In this episode, we chat about how he came to be a bass player in the first place, and how important it is to him to maintain the structure of the role of a bass player. We talk about the fancy flourishes and fills that some bass players get overly enthusiastic about, and how there can only be one Les Claypool! As Ryan is bound by an NDA, he cannot really discuss his time with Angels & Airwaves; so instead, I tell him about the first time I heard that debut album. It was a magical experience for me and one that I remember to this day. Next, we dive into where I first heard his band The Distillers, and how he came to be part of that project. He does let me play that first song by The Distillers that caught my attention (thank you Ryan). Ryan is a certified audio engineer, and he does explain why he felt the need to go that route, and he gives some less expensive shortcut tips for anyone out there who wants to go to audio engineering school. Lastly, we discuss some of the interesting paydays that come along with songs being selected for video games. The Distillers had a song on the video game Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4. Toronto's melodic punk lifers Wasting Time are back with their new single “Ripped Blue Jeans”, out December 12 via People of Punk Rock Records. It's a nostalgic rush of anthemic hooks and heart-on-sleeve energy that could've soundtracked any MTV's 120 Minutes marathon. The track captures that feeling of late 90s freedom, cracked sidewalks, stickered guitars, the smell of sweat and stale beer in community-hall venues, and long summer nights when the world still felt small enough to dream your way out of it. I knew of the horrible reputation this game had, but I thought there'd be enough meat on the bone to have some fun with this episode and laugh a little at least. But no. There's nothing fun about this game. In fact, The Simpsons Skateboarding is quite possibly the worst game I've ever played.It does a horrible job of lifting the Tony Hawk Pro Skater controls, and then drops them into the most half-assed levels I've ever seen. You clip through walls and constantly get stuck on things. There's no fun landmarks to explore. The objectives are lame. Horrible voice acting. This game is worse than Homer's car.I'm rolling solo this week. You and 3 other players pilot a shop through The Reach with other ships in the battle with you. Find the artifact and take it through the Wildgate or destroy all the enemy ships. The moment to moment combat is fantastic and there's a lot of variety to gameplay that keeps us coming back for more.Grounded 2 is out in early access. This is Obsidian Entertainment's sequel to the survival "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" style game. Now we're in a big park with better graphics, simpler mechanics and tougher enemies...did we mention buggies? Battlefield 6 is back! The open beta happened last weekend and we played a ton of it. With this new title in the franchise, we have a return to form with the 4 classes, tighter maps, incredible destruction, fantastic sound and several new mechanics that change the game. After years of rumors, the Gears Of War Collection has become a bit of a running gag in the Xbox community. If it happens, great. If it doesn't, we never fully believed in it anyway. This week, we have Jez Corden to thank because it made for one of our fastest evolving stories mid-show! Starting off as a discussion of whether or not the Gears Of War Collection would ever happen, we quickly learned it is happening and... it won't have multiplayer. Is this a major dealbreaker for Xbox fans? Naturally, the Dukes debate, but the real question after assessing the early Forza Horizon 5 sales data is if it will matter to those playing on other platforms. Forza Horizon 5 is already beating out hot products with full marketing campaigns that are set to hit the market. Most stunning of all is that despite amassing 40+ million players and being available on multiple platforms for years, Forza Horizon 5's early access edition is the lead seller. Free-to-play Monster Hunter-like Dauntless is shutting down on May 29 following mass studio layoffs When Bungie recently had to defend itself in court in a copyright case regarding the Red Legion faction in Destiny 2's campaign, it had to submit two fan-made YouTube lore videos as evidence because Bungie had vaulted/deleted the game's campaign Warner Bros. Games is making big cuts, closing three studios — Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB Games San Diego — and cancelling its long-in-development Wonder Woman game, the publisher told employees on Tuesday. All projects from those studios have been canceled. NetEase began its cuts late last year, with layoffs and studio closures at Mass Effect veteran Mac Walters' new studio Worlds Untold, Halo Infinite design boss Jerry Hook's team at Jar of Sparks, and more recently at Liquid Sword, the company founded by the creator of Just Cause. Quantic Dream, the NetEase-owned developer behind Heavy Rain, Detroit and the upcoming Star Wars Eclipse has broken its silence following the layoffs and shutdowns seen across numerous other NetEase-supported studios. In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumière said the studio's teams had not been impacted by NetEase's dramatic cuts, and were "continuing to develop our projects at full pace".
