Minute Fifty-Two: From 'Anything Like This' to Einstein-Rosen Bridge Joining us today to discuss the Rom-Com ride is Scott Carelli, founder of Dueling Genre Podcast Network and host of Franchisography. In the fifty-second minute of Kenneth Branagh's 2011 film Thor... This is very much the Rom-Com moment of the film. We have a sweet, quiet conversation between these two characters talking in a car. And it goes on for over a minute! How great is that! The Rom-Com nature certainly speaks to how quickly this couple has to connect. How well does it work may be up to the viewer, but it mostly works for us. There's a bit of a sense of the fish-out-of-water element ending as Thor gets closer to Mjølnir. We have yet another example of Jane not being a great driver. They really have pushed to make her the worst driver in the MCU. But it also checks several Rom-Com boxes – the clumsy but smart scientist and steering off the road because of being starry-eyed over the passenger. We talk about the romance relationship in the MCU and try to come up with any examples that are as romantic as this pair is in this film. Perhaps the closest is Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter in the next movie Captain America: The First Avenger. Patty Jenkins wanted to add more romance when she was discussing directing Thor: The Dark World. It's a shame we didn't get it. We have questions about SHIELD's plan here. Clearly not part of the rom-com. Why didn't SHIELD just block the road off at the highway entrance? Clearly, it's just a need by the writers. Back to the people in the car, why doesn't Thor just tell Jane who he is? How does Thor know she's seeing a bridge? Is it just that he knows she's looking for how he got here? To that end, when you are very far advanced science, what words do you use to explain it? Her excitement about an Einstein-Rosen Bridge is adorable, but Thor's comment about a Rainbow bridge is one of the best lines in the movie. Even if we only get half of it here. Portman and Hemsworth play so well opposite each other. It's a cute conversation with a cute couple as they drive across the desert, and we're here to talk about all of it. Tune in! Minute Thirty-Four: From a Cameo to a Day Off ‘Jovial' Jay Shepard digs around in the impact crater with us in this minute as we talk about wormholes and Puente Antiguo. In the thirty-fourth minute of Kenneth Branagh's 2011 film Thor... The townie who finds the impact crater turns out to be none other than J. Michael Straczynski. The connections are strong with this one as they relate to the Thor comics, Babylon 5, and more. We also talk about the nature of comic book creator cameos and how it's nice to see. (We don't get into the issues that these creators are having with Marvel over their creator rights, which is a huge topic for another day.) He runs down to the base of the impact crater and finds Mjølnir embedded in what looks like a block of cement. We debate the look of this prop because on the one hand, it allows the people interacting with it to really struggle but on the other hand, it looks manmade, not like something that would happen naturally from impact. To that end, it does allow for comparisons with the sword in the stone and the fact that no one can pull it free. But then we also now can judge each of these people trying to lift Mjølnir. Apparently, this town ain't worthy. As Straczynski tries to lift Mjølnir, the sound design kicks in with that sound we've come to know and love that we hear when Thor wields the hammer. But is it diagetic? Is this townie hearing the ringing sound too? We leave our time with the townie as he gives us a little ‘huh,' which is played so well. Kudos, Straczynski! Welcome to Puente Antiguo. Finally. As we bid adieu to the townie and Mjølnir for now, we find ourselves in the small town of Puente Antiguo, which means ‘old bridge' in Spanish. Turns out, they named it this because of how it works as a reflective opposite of Asgard. They built this town of Puente Antiguo at the Cerro Pelon Ranch, aka Cooks Ranch Filming Studio in Galisteo, NM. Turns out Tom Ford owns it and if you're on the market for your own movie ranch, you can buy it from him right now! The elevation of Puente Antiguo matches that of Galisteo. That doesn't track at all based on the mileage from Albuquerque we saw in the One-Shot A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer. The population of Puente Antiguo doesn't make sense at all either. It's over 2000 people which, for this small a town, makes no sense. Even Galisteo only has a population just over 200 people. Where do all these people live? Were they just trying to make it seem like more lives were in danger here in Puente Antiguo when the Destroyer arrives? Hey, they've got at least one big chain! The town is big enough to have a 7-11, but it really feels like a Flying J would make more sense. Then again, why would people drive here? It feels so isolated. We point out the newsstand, the liquor store, and a very prominent billboard advertising the great state of New Mexico while also dropping another comic reference. And of course Smith Motors stands at the end of the main drag, essentially filling in for Valaskjalf in this small town. It's a fantastic design as a defunct car dealership here in Puente Antiguo with a star on top. We love it! The billboard looks like some information has been redacted. Was that left accidentally as something they forgot to clean up? Or was it intentional and meant to be something perhaps graffitied on there? Jane, Erik and Darcy busy themselves in Smith Motors at the end of Puente Antiguo's main street. We join them here where clearly Jane has made her temporary workspace. But is that a crew person in a hammock we see in the next building over? Darcy works overtime in this scene as our audience surrogate because Jane and Erik talk about the possibility of an Einstein-Rosen Bridge, or a wormhole. Erik explains to her what that means, so he's essentially explaining it to us. Are superhero films science fiction? Or are they their own genre that happen to be pulling science fiction elements in to enhance the story? The dialogue here feels like the screenwriters had some scientific conversations with people who understand this stuff far better than we do to make sure it sounded somewhat accurate and possible. All of them point to hypothetical ways to circumvent linear travel in both Space and Time. The concept of Wormholes was first envisioned and theorized in 1916 by Austrian physicist Ludwig Flamm, while working upon variables in the equations set down by Albert Einstein in 1915 with his ground-breaking Theory of General Relativity. Flamm, while looking for other solutions, arrived at a series of equations that led him to theorize about an object he described as a "white hole," being a zone in space housing a theoretical time reversal of a black hole. According to his theory, entrances to both black and white holes could be connected by a space-time conduit that would in effect 'cheat' normal linear space travel. Then in 1928, Hermann Weyl, a German mathematician, and theoretical physicist, proposed a wormhole hypothesis, but using the term "One-Dimensional Tubes", to speak of a theory of matter in connection with mass analysis of electromagnetic field energy. Later, in 1935, Albert Einstein and Physicist Nathan Rosen announced their wormhole theory which technically became known as an "Einstein-Rosen Bridge", which they had come upon while working on special solutions for 'Einstein Field Equations'. The theory points to a speculative structure that in effect, links two disparate points in spacetime. More precisely it is a transcendental bijection of the spacetime continuum, an asymptotic projection of the Calabi–Yau manifold manifesting itself in Anti-de Sitter space. In this episode, Michael Mataluni will cover aspects of the physics, and science, regarding wormholes and portals, while Cristina will give accounts where mysterious events and disappearances have occurred that would indicate the involvement of portals/wormholes. Harvard physicists say that wormhole travel may be possible. Wormholes are when space folds and thus gives you something like a portal. This can take you very far places in a short amount of time. Wormholes are theories but may exist. One theory is that wormholes are black holes and on the other side is a white hole. Einstein's theory of relativity is that the universe can be stretched and warped. The Einstein Rosen Bridge theory states that as you compress an object in space, it makes space-time change. It would get curved and eventually collapse on itself creating a black hole and maybe a wormhole. There are many other theories and there is a chance that wormholes exist and could be a way of travel.

Are wormholes real? Is the Einstein-Rosen Bridge actually possible to create and travel through? Have ancient aliens been using stargates to cover trillions of miles instantaneously...only to check in on ancient man and give him the most mediocre of technology like how to move around stone blocks? Does William Henry truly earn his title as Medallion Man this episode, or is he outdone by David Wilcock's pondering of space and the divine? Are stargates really just leather tubes in the intestinal track of the universe...transferring matter out of entrances and exits with only the energy of a condensed planet like Jupiter to give it the grunt and shove it needs to do it's doody...um...duty? I'm sure our plucky Ancient Astronaut Researchers know the answer! Or maybe they talk about the Bermuda Triangle again and other stuff that's been disproved as paranormal or even mildly interesting. A wormhole is a speculative structure that connects two points in space-time, either separated by vast distances or by time. Their existence is hypothesized based on a solution of Einstein’s field equations and a number of possible types of wormholes have been proposed to exist by different scientists. If we imagine space-time as a sheet of paper, and draw two separate dots on one side of the paper, far from each other, we can fold the paper; folding space-time, to connect the two and thus create a direct route. Schwarschild theorized that such wormholes would only allow for one-way travel, but Thorne proposed that using exotic matter one might be able to hold the “throat” of a wormhole open and allow for travel back and forth.
