Ep 477 From Trauma to Triumph: How Spiritual Awakening Transformed Smoke Wallin's Business and Life

Richer Soul, Life Beyond Money

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 27, 2026 59:19

From Trauma to Triumph: How Spiritual Awakening Transformed Business and Life   The Rags-to-Riches Round Trip Nobody Talks About When Success Keeps Vanishing You've built the business. Raised the capital. Made the millions. So why does it keep slipping away? And more importantlywhy does nothing feel like "enough"? Here's a truth most entrepreneurs never want to face: It's not your strategy. It's not your market. It's what's buried inside you.   In this raw and transformative episode of Richer Soul, we sit down with Smoke Wallin, entrepreneur, M&A advisor, and spiritual guide who made—and lost—$50-100 million multiple times. But this isn't a story about making money. It's about discovering why all the wealth in the world couldn't turn off the "loud fan" of anxiety constantly running in the back of his head. Until one day in Nepal, at Buddha's birthplace, everything changed.   5 Soul-Level Insights from Smoke Wallin: (This isn't about making more money. It's about freeing yourself from what's driving you.) Unhealed trauma doesn't just hurt—it sabotages. Smoke kept attracting business partners who would betray him. Why? Because betrayal was his unhealed childhood wound. His subconscious kept recreating the pattern until he faced it head-on. You can achieve massive success while suffering invisibly. Smoke became CFO of a billion-dollar company at 29, raised $110 million—all while living in constant anxiety he didn't even recognize. High achievers are masters at compartmentalizing pain. Forgiveness is freedom—for you, not them. Smoke's healing breakthrough came when he made a deal with his higher self: "If I can remember what happened, I'll forgive." That commitment unlocked everything. "Forgiveness is for the forgiver, not the forgiven." Spiritual awakening is 1% breakthrough, 99% daily integration. Plant medicine opened the door. But Smoke read 400+ books, practiced daily meditation, eliminated negative inputs, and consciously reprogrammed his subconscious. That's where real transformation lives. Money is neutral—your attachment is the prison. Once you're non-attached, you can fully experience wealth without being controlled by it. Smoke now channels resources to Dignity Moves (helping homeless families) and SACRED (supporting child abuse survivors)—because significance matters more than accumulation.   Why This Conversation Matters: Most entrepreneurs chase the next milestone thinking that will finally deliver peace. The next exit. The next $10 million. The next validation. But Smoke's journey reveals a deeper truth: External success means nothing if you're fundamentally unfree internally. This episode is an invitation to stop running—and start healing.   Money Learning: What if your wealth-building is driven by wounds, not wisdom? Smoke's pattern of building and losing fortunes wasn't about bad luck or bad partners. It was about unresolved childhood trauma manifesting in business relationships. For many driven entrepreneurs, the relentless pursuit of "more" is actually an attempt to fill a void, prove worth, or escape pain they've never faced. This episode invites you to ask: How much is enough? And what am I really running from? By healing the wounds beneath your drive, you don't lose your ambition—you gain clarity, peace, and the ability to build wealth that actually serves your life instead of consuming it.   Key Takeaway: Smoke Wallin made—and lost—$50-100 million multiple times because unhealed childhood trauma kept sabotaging his business relationships. Despite becoming CFO of a billion-dollar company at 29, he lived in constant anxiety until a spiritual awakening in Nepal and plant medicine ceremonies unlocked decades of buried memories. His breakthrough insight: "Forgiveness is for the forgiver, not the forgiven"—once he forgave, the anxiety vanished and he quit drinking without trying. Now living in "peace and joy at all times," Smoke helps entrepreneurs answer the question most can't: "How much is enough?"—proving that real wealth isn't in your bank account, it's in your soul.   Guest Bio: Smoke Wallin is an entrepreneur, M&A advisor, and spiritual guide based in Sedona, Arizona. He became CFO of a billion-dollar business at age 29, raised $110 million in the bond market, and has built and exited multiple companies across various industries. After a profound spiritual awakening triggered by a Kundalini experience at Buddha's birthplace in Nepal, Smoke has dedicated himself to helping entrepreneurs navigate both the business and existential dimensions of major exits. He co-founded Dignity Moves, a homeless initiative building villages across California, and serves on the board of SACRED, supporting families affected by child sexual abuse. A 23-year member of YPO (Young Presidents' Organization), Smoke is working on a forthcoming book offering an entrepreneur's guide to spiritual awakening.   Links: Podcast Home & All Platforms https://thesmoketrail.transistor.fm YouTube Channel - https://www.youtube.com/@SmokeWallinOfficial Substack  Full episodes + Pre-Show Q&As + Community & Poetry & Essays https://smokewallin.substack.com/ LinkedIn – Primary promotion & newsletter- https://www.linkedin.com/build-relation/newsletter-follow?entityUrn=7055158311603601408 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/smokewallin Instagram https://www.instagram.com/smoketrailpodcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/smokewallin X (Twitter) https://x.com/TheSmokeTrail1 X: https://x.com/SmokeWallin TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@smokewallin Facebook Podcast Home https://www.facebook.com/DrinkTechnology   Stop chasing the next milestone, hoping it will finally deliver peace. If you've been feeling tired, blocked, or resistant to rest and support, this conversation is an invitation to soften and allow. We also dive into how childhood conditioning creates energetic blocks, how over-giving leads to burnout and self-abandonment, and why true healing begins when the body feels safe enough to receive. This episode weaves together somatic awareness, energy clearing, holistic wellness, and trauma-informed healing to show why healing isn't about doing more — it's about resisting less. If you've been feeling tired, blocked, or like something is shifting beneath the surface, this episode is an invitation to slow down, listen to your body, and allow yourself to receive. We'd love to hear from you, send us a text about your favorite show! There's a moment before a big storm when the air changes. You can feel it. The electricity. The quiet hum of energy building, even before the clouds roll in. You don't need a forecast to know something's coming. The same thing happens before a meaningful shift. The energy starts to gather. Things feel charged. There's that unmistakable sense of ohhh… something's on the way. If you've been noticing that kind of electricity building lately, it may be because the Fire Horse has left the stall and is headed in our direction. In Chinese astrology, the Year of the Fire Horse begins in February 2026, and this episode is an invitation to start getting oriented to that energy now — especially if you're sensitive, intuitive, or someone who's learned to carefully manage your energy over the years.Fire Horse years are known for stirring things awake. They tend to surface what's ready to move, what asks for honesty, and where life has quietly outgrown old habits of endurance and “just making it work.” In this episode, we talk about the themes this year tends to bring forward, and why they matter on an emotional and intuitive level. As this energy approaches, many people also notice subtle changes in how intuition shows up and how connection is experienced. We'll explore what shifts to expect, why intuition may feel different than it has in the past, and how to work with these changes in a way that supports your intuition, your nervous system, and your sense of direction.***2026 in-person Reiki classes in Sedona are scheduled! Send us a textWe are in a moment of huge transformation on this planet, both personal and global. But are we evolving? Our world doesn't look like it. Humans have become pawns for authoritarian leaders. Who promote an escalating cycle of violence against people and nature. Resulting in an imbalance that reclaims any sovereignty we had as human beings. And it's showing up on every continent, and from the planet itself. Our response to life is directly related to our thoughts and emotions. Because we're all powerful manifestors. However, when there is no accountability for what's been created. People go down rabbit holes and get lost. Is this where we are? Lost without purpose. Dealing with things we've created that we forgot have power. This episode explores how human evolution is delayed, when fear becomes a virus programming a disconnect from the sacred self and others. We review the affects of a patriarchal system that's pushed our species into a human amnesia. Finally, we examine where we'll find our personal allies. To assist us in refocusing our thoughts…to strengthen the collective light we need to bring about change. To Support the production of Heart Sense please use the following Link. https://www.buzzsprout.com/1888298/support    Music by Robin MillerNew Horizons CDSongs:  Dawn's Passing, Bells of Romance    www.robinmillermusic.comSponsors for this episode:  Skinplicity at Revive Website: www.skinplicityatrevive.com.                                                                                        Email: skinplicityatrevive@gmail.com203 S Candy Ln, 9B Cottonwood, Az. 86326                                                                                  Phone: 928.514.6120Sedona's New Day Spa3004 W State Rte 89A, Sedona, AZsedonanewday.com928.282.7502The Copper Heart Art for Heart SenseArtist Catherine StefanavageWebsite:  iamcatherine.comEmail: iamcatherine16@gmail.com  Support the showA huge Thank You to all our Sponsors! There is no manual for life, and if you're waiting for one before you take the next step, this episode is for you. In this episode of Tami Talks: Unscripted Healing, Tami explores what it really means to take the first step without seeing the whole staircase. When there is no instruction manual, no guaranteed outcome, and no clear plan, trust becomes the path. This conversation weaves together a real-time story about a last-minute invitation to Sedona, the ego spiral that followed, and the deeper lesson underneath it all: learning how to trust your intuition instead of waiting for certainty. We talk about: Why there is no manual for healing, purpose, parenting, or growth What it looks like to take the first step in faith How to tell the difference between intuition and ego Healing the worthiness wound and people-pleasing patterns Why outsourcing your joy and validation keeps you stuck Rebuilding trust with your body, food, and inner child If you've been waiting for permission, clarity, or a full roadmap before moving forward, this episode is your reminder: you don't need the whole staircase — just the next step. ✨ The Nourished Woman Within is beginning soon. Send us a textRHOBH-Cooking in Couture and Crying on the RunwayRHOBH S15 E5 – “Not Feeling the Healing” Podcast SummaryThe episode opens in Sedona, Arizona, with the ladies waking up in true Beverly Hills fashion: Jennifer Tilly eating donuts in bed, assistants buzzing around, and plenty of commentary about Sedona's famous energy vortexes. While some of the women head out on a 1.5-mile hike to experience the vortex, others opt out, choosing shopping, cocktails, and lounging instead. On the hike, Jennifer brings crystals to recharge, Sutton pushes through the heat, and Kyle and Erika bond while discussing the growing disconnect between Kyle and Dorit. Meanwhile, Dorit vents to Boz and Rachel, insisting Kyle doesn't fully understand her perspective, while Boz notes that their friendship feels damaged on both sides.Back at the cottages, chaos unfolds around dinner… or lack thereof. Kathy starts cooking pasta primavera hours before anyone else shows up. The women trickle into the kitchen painfully late, leading to passive-aggressive commentary, long gowns worn while cooking, and mounting tension. Jennifer jokingly declares her contribution complete after opening guacamole, while Sutton pounds chicken and Kyle fires up the grill close to midnight. The real conflict ignites when Amanda reveals a strange run-in involving Sutton's former assistant, Avi, who allegedly offered to “spill dirt” on Sutton and suggested Amanda hire him to upset her. Sutton becomes visibly uncomfortable, shutting down the conversation and insisting on moving to the dinner table. Emotions simmer as Sutton explains the loss she feels over Avi and her struggle with unresolved pain. The next day brings margaritas before noon, shopping sprees with jaw-dropping totals, and snide commentary about cooking on vacation only to end up eating at the airport. At a runway dinner, Sutton remains guarded, emotional, and defensive, eventually breaking down in tears. Jennifer's blunt confessional comments about Sutton shock Kyle, and the group fractures further before briefly rallying around Sutton, who ends the episode saying she finally feels accepted by the group.Healing may have been the goal in Sedona, but unresolved hurt, miscommunication, and late dinners prove that the vortex didn't work miracles.Support the showhttps://www.wewinewhenever.com/

This episode, Eamon & Merlin talk Real Housewives of Potomac, that sees the cast do some bindering before heading to Colorado to do some bickering. Then, a new episode of Married to Medicine, where a battle over a bag gets personal between Heavenly and Toya, as Cecil's brother David tries to bring him back off the cliff. Also, the season finale of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, that sees a conclusion produced by theatre kids in more ways than one. And finally, a new episode of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, where the ladies venture to Sedona as Amanda talks too much and Erika barely talks at all about her new man. 5:42 - Real Housewives of Potomac: Season 10: Episode 13 41:16 - Married to Medicine: Season 12: Episode 05 1:16:16 - Real Housewives of Salt Lake City: Season 06: Episode 16 2:16:53 - Real Housewives of Beverly Hills: Season 15: Episode 04 We are Eamon and Merlin, a queer married couple from Texas living in Pittsburgh, PA. Find out what Whitner had to say about our post from yesterday! The ladies of Beverly Hills take the PJ (waiting 90 minutes for Dorit) to Sedona with Sutton Brown. Sutton is clearly doing an image revamp and it's agreeing with her AND us. Amanda is in the hot seat: is she being edited for us to question her or is that just her? Plus, Erika opens up about her new man. We also do our predictions for The Golden Globes that air on Sunday night. Have a fabulous weekend! Dylan returns for the first Friday episode of 2026, and it's a week full of drama, deception, and debauchery in the Bravo world. We kick things off with RHOSLC's season 6 finale, where the group melts down in the wake of watching their personalized Greek tragedy. Dylan unpacks some burning questions about the finale, and where the ladies can go from here. Next, he shares some quick hit takes from RHOBH, back after a lengthy holiday break with a trip to Sedona. Can newbie Amanda overcome her rough edit, or is she doomed to be a punchline (with $10k worth of crystals)? Then, Dylan digs into the all-new show The Valley: Persian Style, which remixes some beloved Shahs of Sunset OGs with the winning formula of The Valley. It's off to a strong start, even if some of the relationships are on very shaky ground. And finally, we finish things off with a recap of the first THREE episodes of The Traitors, featuring lots of spoilers about the latest twist to the game, the first murders and banishments, and who's standing out so far. These women didn't just write a book. They claimed their voice, expanded their authority, and built businesses rooted in truth. If you have big dreams, a message that won't leave you alone, and a desire to build a brand that fully reflects who you are — this episode is for you.

PLEASE SIGN UP ON PATREON, EVEN IF IT'S FOR FREE! Posting everything here has become a burden, and if you're only listening to this feed you probably aren't getting all of the episodes. Sign up now at Patreon. It’s two podcasts (Pod Yourself and the Frotcast) for the price of one! Patreon dot com slash frotcast! This is just a teaser, but you can hear the full episode by signing up on Patreon.  This week, Matt is unhappily parenting, or maybe just looking for parking, in Sedona, Arizona, and Brendan is fixing an exploding pool pump, but that’s no reason to fret, because we’re ringing in the year with Sean Keane, from the Roundball Rock podcast and soon to be playing Cobb’s Comedy Club this January 7th in San Francisco. We’re discussing New Year’s Eve, and how it’s by far the most overrated holiday, but also mourning the death of a true poster, Mike Fossey, aka Mike F, by reading a few of his greatest posts. Then we mourn our dead The Wire actors, Ziggy and Clay Davis, and I tell the story of my one Isiah Whitlock Jr. encounter, which Matt rudely interrupts to call in from Sedona, Arizona while he’s in the middle of pooping. He tells us all about the crystal vortex and why he hates vacation parenting and thinks everyone in Sedona is actually on drugs. After that, we discuss Gwyneth Paltrow’s journey from actress to Goop CEO and back to actress again (Sean read a book!), and since it’s year-end list season, we review the one awards season film that Sean has seen, which happens to be Jay Kelly. Didja ever notice that Jay Kelly would’ve been much better if it had been about Adam Sandler’s character? Have you seen this? Have you heard about this? That leads into a bunch of related discussions, about American Beauty, Ben Affleck’s greatest roles and how well he lays pipe. And also Is This Thing On? and movies about stand-up comedy just generally. The regular Frot boys will be back next week, but in the meantime hope you like Sean and I just bullshitting about movies for a while. As always, no refunds.
