Episode 29: Mindfulness: Another Important Key to Escape Diet PrisonThis week's episode is all about mindfulness practices. Sometimes all we need to not dive face first into the buffet or chocolate cake is to stop, breathe and center ourselves. Eating slowly and having gratitude for what is in front of us, will also go a long way to stop that headlong dive. In my course, Breaking Free From Diet Prison, I end each module with a mindfulness practice. In this week's episode I am pulling them all together so you will have them handy as you navigate the rocky road of the holiday season.1:16.       Personal story5:00.       Mindfulness6:28.       Slow down9:50.       Breathing11:36.    Pay attention13:47.    Gratitude14:15.    Your hunger scale14:55.     Kaisen and your mindfulness practice16:12.     Suggestions for other mindfulness practices17:15.     What mistakes are we making?19:15.     This week's ACTIONABLE COACHING ADVICE21:07.     This week's VFO22:18.      Episode 30, coming upBreaking Free From Diet Prison BookBreaking Free From Diet Prison CourseTHIS WEEK'S VFO:  Using your Hunger Scale                                  and:  Good-Better-Best MethodBreaking Free From Diet Prison Facebook pageRoadmap To Diet Success InstagramAccess Transcript HERE

#85: How to Escape Diet Prison with Anne-Sophie Reinhardt, Anti-Diet Coach

Food Psych Podcast with Christy Harrison

Anti-diet coach Anne-Sophie Reinhardt shares why she turned to food for comfort in childhood, how she quickly spiraled from dieting to an eating disorder in adolescence, why "willpower" isn't actually a good thing, how she discovered the body-positive movement and healed her relationship with food, why trauma is such a trigger for disordered eating behaviors, and lots more. Anne-Sophie Reinhardt is an anti-diet coach and body confidence expert who wants you to know one thing: your weight does NOT determine your worth. A firm believer that you don’t (and shouldn’t) have to wait to start living because of your weight, Anne-Sophie works with women around the globe to help them escape diet prison and make eating fun again (because life is a lot more delicious when food doesn’t rule your life). Now a Certified Eating Psychology Coach and Martha Beck Life Coach, Anne-Sophie struggled with disordered eating, yo-yo dieting and bingeing and purging for over 14 years. After a serious health scare, Anne-Sophie entered recovery and launched her own recovery-focused blog, later named one of the Best 25 Personal Growth Blogs 2015 by the Institute for the Psychology of Eating. Since then, she’s helped countless clients write new rules around food, self love, body image and life in general and has shared her revolutionary anti-diet message in top publications like She Takes on the World, Tiny Buddha and Huffington Post. And when Anne-Sophie’s not helping clients fall madly in love with their own bodies (and lives) you’ll likely find her enjoying her own by devouring a delicious book, swimming with adorable her son, savoring a massive ice cream cone (sans guilt) or (most likely) catching up on old episodes of Grey’s Anatomy. Are you at diet rock bottom and longing for food peace yet feel just as stuck in things like mindful eating and intuitive eating? Do you experience more shoulds and rigid rules within tools meant to release your complicated relationship with food? Can you escape rule prison? Yup. You can. Listen now for insight. Subscribe and leave a review here in just seconds. Key Points: Editor's note: This episode 39 needed to be released a week behind episode 40 because it wasn't quite ready. I'm trying to be ok with the break in numbering and hope you can be too. Mindful eating can be twisted to be harmful rather than health promoting and compassionate. Mindfulness's foundation: a compassionate nonjudgemental presence. Being in the moment and noticing brain messages, feelings, etc. Shoulding leads to dieting. Watch out for the hybrid: mindful dieting. Mindfulness connected to dieting, pursuit of weight loss, or "right" way then twisting mindfulness to make it no longer mindful. How to change? Compassionate nonjudgemental curiosity. Center on this concept. Be aware of judgements and notice them too without judging. Normal and natural especially living in a fat body. Practice pausing. Decide what you'd really like it to be as a grown up and in charge of yourself. Healthy eating includes pleasure. Honor this pleasure. Learn to be ok with it.
