Eternal Focus Hebrews 11:10
In this episode, Ash Couchman and guest Matilda Hosanee dig into Colossians 3:2 (NIV): “Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” Together, they explore what it looks like to keep our focus on eternal, God-centered things rather than the constant pull of the everyday. Ash and Matilda discuss practical ways to tune out distractions and reframe our thoughts, especially when life gets overwhelming. This episode serves as a reminder to lift our eyes, trust in God's greater plan, and focus on what truly lasts. An Eternal Focus in an Ending World (1 Peter 4:7-11) | Philip Van Steenburgh
Paul teaches the Colossians, and all believers, to live focused on eternal matters. He gives us instructions on how to live as those who have been made alive in Christ.

Jesus told His disciples in John 4 that his food was the Will of the Father and to finish His work. In Exodus 16, the Israelites were complaining to Moses because they were going to run out of food in the wilderness. Today, are we living with a focus on the temporal or the natural? Am I consumed with my own desires to be filled by me? As followers of Jesus Christ we are expected to live with eyes focused on the eternal, eyes focused on our sustainer, Jesus Christ. We have to be aware of what is driving us or motivating us in all things. And Jesus answered, “O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:17-20 (ESV) Jodi would love to hear from you! email: hispresenceandpurpose@gmail.com Follow She Walks In Purpose - https://www.facebook.com/walkinhispurpose - @walkinhispurpose If you would like to support She Walks In Purpose, please visit https://www.unitetoknow.org/ and give to Forged In Faith Oak Ministries and earmark your donation 'She Walks In Purpose.' #JesusChrist #hispurposeandpresence #walkinhispurposeandpresence

Hebrews 11:17-22 — By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, of whom it was said, “In Isaac your seed shall be called,” concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau concerning things to come. By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return.

God desires that we look at and walk in the things that are eternal. What we see and experience now will pass.
Joshua 17
Hope in Christ focuses us beyond current circumstances to the future. Paul recognizes that temporal afflictions, no matter how significant they seem, are no comparison to the eternal glory that awaits him (and us).

Pastor Philip leads us through Psalm 17, reminding us that we don't live for this earth as Christians, but heaven is our home. Prayer helps us to keep this eternal focus. Indeed, King David had this focus. How is your focus? This is a fun little episode discussing a note so fun instance in the bible where the Father gives the King an option of three punishments. In the end we agree that keeping focused on eternity and what it holds will lead us to better decisions and less ill-placed emotions that focusing on the here-and-now.
