Yes! There have been Muslim queens who ruled their own countries! One of them was Arwa al-Sulayhi who ruled Yemen for 60 years in the 11th and 12th century. She outlasted her husband, her other husband, her son, and her other son, continuing to rule on her own authority through it all. Though the memory of her has faded, her mosque is still there, and so is her palace. Visit the website (herhalfofhistory.com) for sources, transcripts, and pictures. Hi, I'm Beverley Joy of Simply Story Poetry. This poem is based on the sixth of The Beatitudes in Matthew chapter 5 verse 8 'Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.' This Beatitude has both a physical and spiritual meaning. On the day when Jesus taught these Beatitudes, He spoke of a future world where the pain and sorrow of this present world will no longer exist Revelation 21:4-5. But Jesus also spoke of an immediate quenching of spiritual hunger and thirst available through faith and trust in God Psalm 107:9. I love this Feature Image showing a broken heart full of gold shining rays of bright light out from the inside of the heart. I interpret this image as our human hearts which are not perfect or are broken from life's pain, but our hearts are full of God's rich love bursting out into our world, to our family and friends. Other poems in this series of The Beatitudes are The Beatitudes of Jesus - Introduction, Blessed Are the Poor in Spirit? Blessed Are Those Who Mourn? Blessed Are The Meek? Blessed Are Those Who Hunger and Thirst? Blessed are the Merciful? You can read my poems at Simply Story Poetry on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and at simplystorypoetry.com and follow me on Instagram. I appreciate you taking the time to listen to my poem. Hi, I'm Beverley Joy of Simply Story Poetry. When we are born, our book of life is empty. Over time our pages fill up with our life stories. Once the ink dries, we cannot erase what is written, but we can think and plan to some degree what we wish to write on future pages. I wrote this poem years ago, back when I first started writing poetry. I chose this Feature Image as it shows a compass to give direction in life, a camera to see and record life, photographs to review life and glasses to see life in clarity. You can read my poems at Simply Story Poetry on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn and at simplystorypoetry.com and follow me on Instagram. Hi, I'm Beverley Joy of Simply Story Poetry. The ebb and flow of life, the highs and lows of experiences, the coming and going of relationships, the constant fluctuation of society, the rise and fall of emotions, the continuous change in circumstance and nature. All of life on earth and the environment are in a state of continuous change. We can choose to flow with change or swim against the current of change. Not all change is good. Not all change is bad. Some changes that we have to accept, flow against our core values and beliefs. Some changes that we don't have to accept, we decide to accept, to add new experiences and adventure to our lives. I wrote this poem after I went through my belongings to decide what I would take to my new address and what I would give away to the second-hand shop. Things that years earlier I could not part with, but now the strong emotions and memories embedded in those items have detached enough for me to allow my heart to let them go. Give them away to someone who will attach fresh emotions and memories to those items. I chose this Feature Image as it shows both the rollercoaster and the waves breaking on the shoreline. The background music flows with the rhythm of the waves gently rolling up the sandy beach and then receding back into itself over and over again. You can read my poems at Simply Story Poetry on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Linkedin and at simplystorypoetry.com. Thank you for listening to my poem that I hope you enjoyed. A new podcast with Lyle Laverty, Former Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Fish, Wildlife and Parks, addresses mismanagement of our forests. Remember the nineteen Republican U.S. senators that helped pass the 2702-page infrastructure bill that was not read by most senators.  They sold us out!  Kabul falls into the hands of the Taliban, and Biden, Harris and Ptaski are MIA.  American personnel are told to “shelter in place.”  How is that going to work out when the Taliban is knocking on the door?  Why were so many military personnel’s lives and their families sacrificed for an ending worse than Saigon? Robyn Carnes, candidate for Centennial City Council, is concerned about local, state, national and international issues.  As a wife and a mother, she recognizes the importance of voting and that local elections have consequences.  Defunding the police will only bring more crime to all neighborhoods.  Divisiveness is rampant with the radical left's narrative.  Anytime the government gets involved there is a negative effect, including housing.  We must take a stand now or Colorado and America will be transformed permanently. Guest Pam Long, former Captain in the Army Medical Service Corps, joins Kim for a discussion on Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin's coerced recommendation that all U.S. military get the experimental drug vaccination for the COVID-19/Wuhan-China virus.  Pam states that this is a very bad policy.  Vaccinations should be voluntary and not coerced or forced for the 46% who refuse; it is actually illegal to mandate the experimental drug jab.  There are 3 exemptions for all branches of the military:  medical, including established immunity; administrative and; religious accommodation.  As an experimental drug vaccination military personnel must ask:  Does it confirm immunity?  Is it a risk when we see people are dying?  Where is the risk assessment as 99.5% survive?  Pam gives startling statistics on those who have taken the vaccination, including 12,000 deaths.  Why mandate?  Follow the money.  Billions of dollars of vaccinations and PCR tests are sitting on shelfs unused and they are all prefunded.  We all must push back on RNA vaccinations as there are many more coming down the pipeline.  The PCR test is a cash cow for institutions, including universities who are mandating the tests.  Note that the CDC has acknowledged that they cannot discriminate influenza from the coronavirus.  Also, a 24 plus cycle rate on PCRs is invalid.  Get the information you need and read.  Start with childrenshealthdefense.org. On episode 29 of SOMEWHERE IN THE SKIES, Ryan speaks with Brian Bethel, arguably the first ever witness to come across the Black-Eyed Kids (BEKs) phenomenon. In 1996, Bethel was parked in a desolate parking lot when two young boys began to knock on his window, begging and pleading for a ride home. What happened next would completely terrify Bethel and change the rest of his life. Since this first account of these mysterious black-eyed children, thousands of stories have permeated through both word-of-mouth and online lore, sparking a phenomenon that has grown in both mystery and debate. Bethel recounts that harrowing night, how his story ultimately was leaked and went viral at the advent of the internet, and just exactly what he believes may lay behind the dark, soulless eyes of the black-eyed kids.  To hear bonus content with Bethel, including a disturbing ghost encounter and a separate case where a couple actually let black-eyed children into their home, consider becoming a Patreon subscriber today. This week we are excited to bring you a special three-part episode. We call it our social media tool box. Podcasters Stephanie Sorenson and Nick Galieti sat down with Michelle Linford, DeNae Handy, and Greg Trimble, each experts in social media, to discuss how to maximize our interactions in the age of instant communication. Michelle Linford Michelle Linford is the Executive Director of EPIK Deliberate Digital, a collaborative nonprofit focused on changing conversations and culture around issues related to kids and technology. The vision of this international-reaching collaboration is to encourage a mindset where adults and children/youth work together to deliberately use technology for good. Like many parents in the digital age, Michelle has felt the heavy responsibility of helping her children stay safe and healthy in a digital world. She has volunteered for years in the pornography prevention space, so she is keenly aware of the very real dangers and concerns parents have. But she is grateful that her work at EPIK has also helped her understand that, just as prophets have said for decades, technology is a gift from God. It's how and why we use it that matters. Michelle shares what she is learning as she collaborates with people who are trying to create a #UseTech4Good culture. DeNae Handy is currently an instructor of social media marketing and personal branding at LDS Business College. She also has a background in music performance and music DeNae Handy education. She is a public speaker about writing, publishing, social media and blogging, the creative process, and also loves to teach about the gospel — especially the Old Testament.  A prolific blogger and essayist, DeNae has been a columnist for Meridian Magazine and published essays in book compilations. Ms. Handy speaks to how our online presence reflects on our personal brand. Online forums are not insular; what we say and how we interact in one venue will bleed through to how we are seen through different digital eyes. Professor Handy gives practical suggestions for implementing good branding practices in every digital communication in order to maintain a consistent online presence. Greg Trimble Greg Trimble is an entrepreneur, member missionary, father, blogger, and digital marketer. He founded an internet marketing agency in Southern California. He is also a featured contributor to LDS Living, Deseret News, FamilyShare, and other online publications. He's been interviewed about his blog's success by Fox 13 News in Salt Lake City, KSL, and BYU. Greg has spoken at various firesides and conferences in Southern California, Utah, Australia, and Massachusetts. He and his family live in Riverside, California. He shares his experience jumping head-first into the deep-end of the blogosphere. March 10, 2014, he sat down, built a blog, and put out his first post. Since that time, he has had over 7 million page views. Greg shares practical tools for those wanting to maximize their impact as a digital missionary and the reach of their personal blogs. Whether you are a listener concerned about raising a digital native or one wishing to maximize your online presence, this episode is sure to provide you with some practical tools.
