Mensimah's Round Table: Conversations with Women of Power and Grace
MAKING PRAYER WORK!This episode is a follow up to Episode 59 where I talked about prayer and the fact that it works! I like the quiet moments of conversation, of listening to the inner whispers, of acknowledging the communication centers including my gut for insight, knowingness, and pure unadulterated intelligence that flows to me. I am sharing my native, traditional prayer format — the libation..The most common or frequently used ritual of prayer in the Akan tradition is the pouring of libation. This is done on different occasions, including naming ceremonies, rites of passage (e.g., puberty, birthdays, weddings, graduations), funerals and mourning rites, and traditional festivals. The libation or prayer acknowledges Nana Nyame—God, Twereduampong—The Omnipotent God, Eno Asaase Yaa—Mother Earth, and the ancestors. It asserts faith and expresses gratitude for what has been accomplished by Nyame's grace. The prayers also make several declarations of wealth earned or to be earned for the clan; they affirm good health, protection from evil, and blessings for the young children born to expand the lineage. The closing remarks ask for more blessings for the specific occasion and for all future endeavors. A PrayerNana Nyame, Twereduampong, Bo Adee—wo nsa nie. Mother Earth, we depend on you while living, we depend on you when we die—here is your drink. Bountiful deity of the sea—here is your drink. River, here is your drink. Grand Ancestors, come and get your drink. Benevolent Spirits and Messengers from the East, North, West, and South— here is your drink, too.All various clans, come get your drink. You know why I am calling you, but you taught that repetition is not taboo.I thank you for allowing me to travel across the bountiful sea, to share what the Great Ancestors taught us. I thank you for the blessing of mind, heart, and strength to complete this work. I pray for unlimited blessings for those who bring their minds, hearts, and strength to this project.I pray that you let my presentation honor you and be a good one. I pray that everything would end joyfully and peacefully. God, Good Mother, My Great Ancestors, Benevolent Spirits and Good Messengers, Drink, drink, drink!"The prayer is representative of the format of libations, where all the Akan concepts about the Supreme Being, Mother Earth, Spirits, Deities, Ancestors, Directions, are addressed and thanked before any supplication. The prayer ends by acknowledging the presence of All, and always with an offering of a drink, usually clear liquid, like water or gin. The idea is to create a prayer in your own words, using a format that resonates with you, and express the desire you have and commit to having a conversation with the God in You! It has been suggested that using your mother-tongue is even more powerful. You will feel a shift in how you activate

Amin. (Dod).

Renungan harian "AGAMA YANG BERSINAR" - 17 November 2023
Sebab Ia setia. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sherly-grezia/message

For when Moses was about to erect the tent, he was instructed by God, saying, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.” 6 But as it is, Christ2 has obtained a ministry that is as much more excellent than the old as the covenant he mediates is better, since it is enacted on better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second. 8 For he finds fault with them when he says:3 “Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,9 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not continue in my covenant, and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord.10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.11 And they shall not teach, each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,' for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.” 13 In speaking of a new covenant, he makes the first one obsolete. And what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. Of David. 145 I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.2 Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.5 On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness.7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness. 8 The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.9 The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. 10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O LORD, and all your saints shall bless you!11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power,12 to make known to the children of man your2 mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. [The LORD is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.]314 The LORD upholds all who are falling and raises up all who are bowed down.15 The eyes of all look to you, and you give them their food in due season.16 You open your hand; you satisfy the desire of every living thing.17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works.18 The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.19 He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.20 The LORD preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak the praise of the LORD, and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever. Footnotes [1] 145:1 This psalm is an acrostic poem, each verse beginning with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet [2] 145:12 Hebrew his; also next line [3] 145:13 These two lines are supplied by one Hebrew manuscript, Septuagint, Syriac (compare Dead Sea Scroll) (ESV) Amos 2 (Listen) 2 Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,1 because he burned to lime the bones of the king of Edom.2 So I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the strongholds of Kerioth, and Moab shall die amid uproar, amid shouting and the sound of the trumpet;3 I will cut off the ruler from its midst, and will kill all its princes2 with him,” says the LORD. Judgment on Judah 4 Thus says the LORD: “For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they have rejected the law of the LORD, and have not kept his statutes, but their lies have led them astray, those after which their fathers walked.5 So I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the strongholds of Jerusalem.” Judgment on Israel 6

My interview with author Dr. Angela Sutton about her book, Pirates of the Slave Trade: The Battle of Cape Lopez and the Birth of an American Institution, is now posted. Pirates of the Slave Trade follows three fascinating figures whose fates would violently converge: John Conny, a charismatic leader of the Akan people; the infamous pirate Black Bart, who worked his way from an anonymous navigator to one of the British Empire's most notorious enemies in the region; and naval captain Chaloner Ogle, tasked by the Crown with hunting down and killing Black Bart at all costs. At the Battle of Cape Lopez, these three men and the massive historical forces at their backs would finally find each other—and the world would be transformed forever. This book highlights the root of societies' greatest evil, Chattel Slavery. To discuss slavery and where it started is impossible without reading this book. I hope all will.

Amin. (Dod).
