Talking Off The Couch podcast focuses on mental health and mental wellness within the community of color. Tatiana Smith who is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Dallas, Texas decided that it is time to shed light and break stigmas about mental health/wellness in the communities of color. This podcast is a voice for the mental health community as well as the average person. Talking Off The Couch will make you feel Ok about not being Ok.   This week's episode I speak with my guest Courtney Sanders about Finances, Budgeting, and Mental Wellness. We go into the two ways to set up your accounts like Segregated funds and Automatic Savings, best apps for saving and budgeting, and business strategies.   Courtney Sanders as seen in Forbes and Essence is an entrepreneur, author, and speaker. She is the founder of Think and Grow Chick which was birthed in 2009, when she made some not-so-smart decisions and found herself drowning in debt, bad grades, and the possibility of not being able to finish my college education. From this she begin to blog about her journey and it has gotten her to the place she is at today. She is a sought-after speaker focusing on Woman's Empowerment and finances.   Takeaways from this episode:   Start Now when it comes to Saving.   When it comes to Business it doesn't have to look pretty. Consistency doesn't have to look the same all the time, but the End result needs to be the same.   Take time for You!   Where you can find Courtney:   Web: www.thinkandgrowchick.com     Facebook: @thinkandgrowchick   Instagram: @thinkngrowchick   Twitter: @thinkngrowchick   Resources and Books Mentioned:   Think and Grow Rich   The Richest Man in Babylon   No Excuses Woman-21-Day Self-Discipline Challenge     Simple App and Temi App   Digit-https://digit.co/r/ZkpgypeR_G?ab       Podcast hashtag #talkingoffthecouch and #TOTCpodcast   Email: info@talkingoffthecouch.com   Facebook-Talking off the Couch Podcast   Facebook Group-Talking Off The Couch Village   Instagram-talkingoffthecouch   Twitter- podcasttotc   If you are interested in working with Tatiana as a therapist you can find out more about her services at www.tsmithcounseling.com   If you have questions or would like to discuss sponsorship opportunities, email us at: talkingoffthecouch@gmail.com   Make sure to also visit our website at www.talkingoffthecouch.com

Today's episode features a phenomenal young woman named Courtney Sanders of the Think and Grow Chick.  Courtney's platform provides mentorship, empowerment, financial advice, and entrepreneurship help to millennial women all over the world. Courtney managed to make a multiple six-figure salary with her Think and Grow Chick platform.  Courtney's road to success didn't come simply; in fact, Courtney earned a full ride to Howard University only to lose her scholarship the following year.  Find out Courtney's wake up call, and her relentless drive to educate and elevate her financial position.   Key Takeaways: The Side Hustle is Real: Courtney managed to use odd jobs, waiting tables, and selling unused belongings to pay off credit card debt.  Courtney humbled herself to use her drive to earn money and advance her financial position. To What Extent Do Our Financial Purchases Appease Others? Courtney said much of her consumer debt stemmed from delivery services and buying clothes to stay in fashion.  It makes us both question to what extent do we make purchases to help elevate our social status or to show others that we "have money".  Do we make purchases to show status and put on appearances? The Story of Babylon Courtney discussed a part from The Story of Babylon that she keeps with her to this day: for every dollar you make, keep ten cents.  In other words, save 10% of every dollar you earn.  To this day Courtney uses this mantra in both her business and personal finances. It has been such an honor to interview Courtney.  Thank you so much for the opportunity!    Follow Courtney: @thinkngrowchick Follow Ashley: @stacksnthecity Music: Bensound.com

It’s Nicaila here with another special REWIND edition of Side Hustle Pro. Take a listen to this best of episode with Courtney Sanders. This is one of my favorite episodes because Courtney is so thorough! She is an entrepreneur who started making money online by packaging her expertise in productivity systems and goal achievement and has impacted thousands of people. But, even though she was starting to make 4 then 5 figures monthly in her business, she didn’t just quit her job. She planned it out, she was prepared and she really set a high standard for herself of what she needed to achieve before she would allow herself to quit. So Courtney’s episode is one that I came back to many, many times in 2017. I would literally re-listen to it over and over again as I prepared to leave my job. 1) Because it was like talking to a life coach and 2) It was a reminder that I could not just quit impulsively and expect success, I needed to establish a plan. In this this episode, Courtney breaks down: The inspiration for Think And Grow Chick and when she realized she could help other women think and grow into their best selves How she grew her company into a profitable business How she juggles her side hustle with her full time job Financial wisdom she has learned along the way When she knew it was time to take her side hustle to the next level Links mentioned on this episode REGISTER for Podcast Moguls Masterclass Think And Grow Chick website Click here to subscribe via RSS feed (non-iTunes feed): http://sidehustlepro.libsyn.com/rss Announcements Side Hustle Pro is now over 6100 members strong. If you want to learn how to build a successful business, Courtney Sanders is the person to talk to.  Not only has she built her own side hustle to multiple 6-figures in about 2 years, she's helped thousands of other women do the same. I chose Courtney to open up this series because building profitable business starts with self-discipline and focus.  Courtney specializes in just that.  Courtney is an authority on women’s empowerment, she offers training and personal development online & in-person education.  In this episode, Courtney details her progression as the Think and Grow Chick from having her first event where she lost $300, to self-publishing her first book, to developing a sales funnel and a mastermind that has earned her multiple six figures in her business.  And she breaks down exactly how she did it!  Courtney explains why when she was steadily grossing almost 6K per month, she waited almost a year before quitting her job.   Since launching Think and Grow Chick, Courtney has had the opportunity to speak to and develop training programs for a number of organizations, including The White House My Brother’s Keeper and was recently featured in Forbes Magazine! Finally, Courtney leaves you with three tips to help you start of 2018 on the right foot. You can find out more about Courtney and this episode at www.artsteele.co/ep33-courtneysanders Enjoy!

On this episode, I'm sharing the art of reaching out to potential collaborators, customers and clients via the cold email. While many of many of my guests are people I know or have met, 50% of the women I interview on my podcast were complete strangers before I reached out to them via email. In this episode I’m sharing the art of writing enticing cold emails that get responses. Here are some of my key tips:   Preparation Do your research - Google, social media Consider what’s in it for them Eliminate words like, “pick your brain” from your vocabulary Keep a Google doc with your email templates and tweak for each individual outreach Revise as you learn what works Start a Template Document Make sure every person you reach out to knows why you appreciate their work and the value  the collab would bring Be prepared to GIVE before you get Make it EASY for them to collaborate. Propose dates and times (hello, Calendly!) and offer to work around their schedule.
