Episode #100. I can't believe its been 100 episodes! You'll notice that this is the second episode that we are publishing this week and the reason for that is that my team and I launched the very first episode three years ago today. We thought it would be a special way to commemorate the podcast's anniversary. For today's episode, I thought it would be fun to switch things up a little and have my friend Hannah Davis interview me for the podcast. Hannah is previous Paid Vocation guest, tv host, media personality, communications coach and formerly the host of Good Morning Texas. She is an incredible interviewer and it was such a pleasure to be interviewed by her. Before we dive into the interview, I want to thank you so much for listening to this podcast. I have loved all of the conversations and have learned so much along the way. Thank you to my amazing Dklutr team led by Anne Garcia. This podcast is a labor of love and I'm deeply appreciative of every single team member who helps make it a reality. Thank you for being a part of the Paid Vocation community. In this episode of The Healers Café, Manon Bolliger (facilitator and retired naturopath with 30+ years of practice) speaks with Dr. Robb Kelly, PhD For the transcript and full story go to: https://www.drmanonbolliger.com/Dr-Robb-Kelly Highlights from today's episode include: So, everything is going good. We got the wife back, just got in a great job, amazing, fantastic and then we self-sabotage…alcoholics and addicts for what they can see as no reason. Well, the reason is childhood trauma, and it's still stored, because we've got to deal with it. that's what we do with trauma, it becomes our comfort zone, it becomes our buffer, even though I know it's painful, and it's going to be horrible. It becomes the only thing that I know, in times of trouble. So, the idea is, is to address that, to smash that box and make sure you can't get back in. But right now, it's people often ask me, you know, what's the answer? And the answer is dialogue and education are relative because people don't understand that alcoholism is a disease, so is drug addiction and that it's a predisposition, we don't have a choice over this. So when we take our first drink, it sets up that cycle internally. ABOUT DR. He's even shared the stage and studio with some of country music's heaviest hitters, from CMA musicians in Miranda Lambert's band to Fort Worth Producer of the Year Bart Rose. But it's more than just Todd's success to date that makes him such a compelling country artist. What's most readily apparent in Todd Barrow's music is his heart. Todd's music is no country for old men. While he undoubtedly draws his sonic influence from titans like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, his melodies skew modern. He plays almost every instrument, from piano to guitar, mandolin, harmonica, and drums, and the multi-instrumentalist doubles as a songwriter for himself as well as for other artists.

Show Summary This was the most interesting and informative interview I've ever done. I made a new friend with Dr. Robb Kelly. He was so great in answering myth-busting questions for me. Alcohol DOESN'T kill brain cells. I've always heard it did. We talk about the hypothalamus, how oxygen heals, and so much more. Read more about him in the next couple of paragraphs, check out his links, then listen to this amazing interview. “We are born with million dollar minds, stop hanging around .10 minds. So if you're sitting there with suicide on your mind, just so depressed you can't get up for your kids, I want you to call me and I will give you a five minute pep talk that will change your life. And if it doesn't, I will send you $100 for the courtesy of calling me.” -Dr Robb Kelly (214-600-0210 Texting is quicker and best) Dr. Robb Kelly, PhD is a sought-after recovery expert who believes in treating the causes of addiction and not the symptoms. The Real Estate InvestHER Show with Elizabeth Faircloth and Andresa Guidelli
You create your reality, and it all starts in your head. Will it be the worst or the best day? It's all up to you.In this episode, Liz and Andresa sit down with Staci Danford to discuss the power of the human brain, and how we could 'reboot' it, and use it to our advantage. She also talks about how we could intentionally fill up our memory bank and practice gratitude so we are less influenced by external factors, and we can live life as we planned it.Staci Danford has a Master's Degree in Mind, Brain, and Education. She's a TEDx speaker and has been a GRATITUDE consultant for the ABC News show, Good Morning Texas. She is also the owner and operator of The Grateful Brain, a consulting company that uses Neuroscience to help individuals, schools, and companies understand that: YOUR BRAIN POWER IS YOUR SUPERPOWER… but only if you know how to use it! Staci and her husband Larry live in Azle, Texas. She is the mother of three incredible children and a precious grandbaby who is 6 months old!Tune in until the end to learn how you can take charge of your life by correcting your brain patterns and strengthening your mind. Let's get started!Quotes• “The difference is, I call it casual thanks, just saying thank you. When somebody holds the door open for you, or somebody lets you into traffic and you kind of give them a little happy wave. That's not gratitude. That's just saying thank you. That's appreciation. It's different. But deep gratitude has to activate the chemicals in your brain because it activates an emotional feeling.” (10:53-11:16)• “The secret is to ask your brain why. Why am I grateful? Why am I saying thank you?" (11:27-11:32)• “One of the myths of gratitude is it's the cure-all and it's not. As a matter of fact, the newest research shows that when people force themselves to be grateful, it actually backfires.” (20:40-20:50)• “The greatest discovery of neuroscience in the last 100 years is neuroplasticity, and that tells us that up until the day we die, our brain has the ability to be malleable and change. But how does it change? Repetition. Repetition is the secret to everything” (26:37-26:53)• “The world is not here for your joy and amusement. And sadly, your brain does not care about your happiness. It does not care about you at all… Your brain is your job. You have to make yourself happy. Your joy is your job. And if somebody is upsetting you, you need to know why. The why is the problem not the people.” (29:44-30:14) • “If you understand how to tap into your clients' gratitude language, you could probably sell them anything because people all want to be seen, heard, and understood. That's our brain's innate wiring system. We all want that.” (41:29-41:47)Connect with Staci:Website: https://thegratefulbrain.comIG: @stacidanfordFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/staci.danfordLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/staci-danford-m-b-e-71a03a102/ Resources mentioned: Brené BrownThe Molecule of More by Daniel Z.
