Halloween 2018 aka Halloween H40 was well received by audiences and critics alike. Upon revisiting 1998's Dimension entry, Halloween H20, I found it unneeded in the Halloween saga of Laurie Strode and Michael Myers. "Ed you're talking as if he were a human being!" Ed from 'The Film Effect Podcast' returns for his second dose of Halloween goodness by joining Sean to discuss the much-beloved? Halloween IV: The Return of Michael Myers (1988). Discussion Points: -Yes, Sean does these reviews just to do an impression of Donald Pleasence as Doctor Loomis. -Ed brings his best Steven Seagal impression. -The amount of love in the film community for this film. -Stew from Stew World Order sends in his rating for the film. -Ed brings fantastic trivia and insights into how the film was made. -Sean doesn't understand that Sheriff Brackett didn't move to the former Soviet Union. -Ed helps out put this film into context in the odd Halloween timeline(s). -Ed and Sean discuss an idea for why the mask is so white. -You're talking as if he were a human being Ed. -The pick-up shots to add more gore. -Loomis's change of direction. -The rushed production. -That uplifting ending. Raised Questions: -Do you consider this the second best instalment of the whole series? -Do you prefer the 'Earl and the Gang' or the 'Evil Dies Tonight lynch mob'? -Why can't Sean remember the Sheriff's name in this film? -Do you wish Halloween (2018) was called Halloween H40? -Would you watch Halloween: Overtime? -Is it generous to call this film a "smash sequel"? -Why does Ed keep talking as if Michael Myers were a human being? -Would you watch a Halloween film set in the summer with Michael sweating from his eye-holes? -Where were the risk assessments for that transfer ride? -Is it possible to discuss a Halloween film without discussing all the others? -Have you ever dipped your tie in coffee? -Would you watch Michael Myers versus The Winter Soldier? -What kind of a party where Rachel's parents at? Shout-Outs: -Josh from 'Talking SMAC (Superheroes, Movies, Animation and Comics) podcast. -The 'Stew World Order' podcast. -FilmFloggers' Halloween 4 review with Ben and Tom. An absolutely hilarious review. Trailer: FilmFloggers: www.filmfloggers.com Review It Yourself now has a Patreon! In this podcast retrospective, host Brandon-Shea (@BrandonMutala) is joined by co-host Zach (@mooreonzach) to discuss the 11 films spanning 40 years in the Halloween film franchise. They’ve reached the end of the series here, with David Gordon Green’s Halloween. What do the hosts make of this sequel/re-quel/recalibration? Okay, just cutting to the chase, they were not disappointed. They go into how the new film honors the original film and the franchise as a whole. And they also touch on fandoms in general, and how positivity is the key to life. They’re going deep in this final episode. Thanks for listening, and here’s hoping Blumhouse greenlights a new Halloween II soon!
