Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken directed by Steve Miner, and starring Gabrielle Anwar, Michael Schoeffling and Cliff Robertson. Episode Roundup: The Cowpunchers discuss a very odd, dare I say, confusing, scene of horse touching. Detective Amy begins to suspect Mel of having once been a horse girl. Mel has some quibbles with some of the horse husbandry in this film!

From wardrobe malfunctions to the classic "I'll be right back" trope, our conversation is sprinkled with humor and disbelief.
This week Ken welcomes actor, writer, and all around great human Amy Stoch to the show. Ken and Amy discuss fabled central time, growing up in Ohio, Love Boat, having a 9pm bedtime, the Clevland Browns, the artistic nature of Clevland, Clevland Playhouse, PhD studies, Mary Martin in Peter Pan, Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, coming into the acting business as a model, Star Search, catalog work, having a sense of humor, how to stand out from the pack, A&P, Rosie O'Donnel, Sinbad, Rebecca Bush, the acting competition on Star Search, the power of a live audience, being discovered, moving to LA for the first time, going out on audictions, the good old days of Hollywood, seeing behind the scenes, walking Hollywood Blvd, The Hollywood Hills, Chicago, how the pros always fly into Burbank, how commercial work has changed, the power of unions, being paid for your work, Chicago productions, taking the time to look back and recognize all the cool things you've gotten to do, working with Andy Griffith, Gunsmoke, how amazing James Arness is, being able to give back to your parents through your work, having a comedic apetitude, Summer School, working with Carl Reiner, the Bill &Ted series, Soul Man, Steve Miner, seeing Barbara Streisand, when they film in Boston, being killed off on Days of Our Lives, being allowed to improv, the new smart dumb genre ushered in in the late 80s, doing or not doing nudity on film, being credited as "girl in bed", keeping momentos from your work, getting your script signed by everyone you worked with, the difference between movie and TV acting, having women behind the scenes on your side as advocates, and how different the entertainment world is today.
¡Gracias y feed the cvlt!
It's our second Steve Miner movie in a row, as we're reviewing WARLOCK (1989) in our latest episode! We thought this would be an interesting movie to discuss after having so much fun talking about HOUSE (1985) in our previous episode, but we bumped it up the priority list after our host Eric watched its sequel WARLOCK: THE ARMAGEDDON (1993). A review of that sequel is coming up soon (with a very special guest!), but before then we'll have our Halloween special, and Jake announces his pick for that episode at the end of our WARLOCK chat. In the meantime, we had a great time discussing a terrific script from David Twohy, along with some scenes trimmed from the original script, the directorial work of Steve Miner, and of course the fabulous central performance by the late Julian Sands. We really hope everyone enjoys this one. Believe it or not, this episode's been a long time coming for us. We've talked about covering this movie since the beginning of the pod, but we finally sat down to review HOUSE (1985)! This film from director Steve Miner and writers Fred Dekker and Ethan Wiley has been a favorite of our host Nick for many, many years, and it was a delight to finally discuss it on the show. Although this review is not without its cost, as Nick has to endure far more comic talk than he could have possibly anticipated before we hit "record." But we had a blast chatting about the movie, taboo tooth-brushing techniques, Herculean efforts to unearth four eighties comic books, introducing the K.R.E.O.N. certification system and much more. We really hope everyone enjoys the review. We recorded our milestone 150th episode on Friday, September 13th and decided to mark the occasion by covering the 2nd film in the Friday franchise. With our special guest Eugene we're going back to 1981 to revisit the original Baghead Jason. This film made absolutely no sense considering the info from the first movie. Audiences didn't care. Pack your sleeping bags and don't stand with your back to a window because it's time for Sean S. Cunningham & Victor Miller's FRIDAY THE 13TH (1980) to prove that a movie capitalizing on a trend can become a trendsetter in its own right. We then look at how FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 2 (1981), directed by Steve Miner, altered the trajectory of the franchise and overall trend.
Laci and Matt are off to learn how to be better camp counselors by getting back to basics. Safety. Canoeing. Shooting arrows. Singing “Hang Down Your Head Tom Dooley.” Making love and drawing the ire of Mrs. Voorhees. Trying to keep their bodies fragrance free, so as not to attract bears. On a totally unrelated note, this episode is about Friday the 13th Part 2, Matt's favorite entry in his favorite horror series. It's the debut of Jason as the killer, although he still hasn't quite nailed his look. Still, it's an absolute blast and a wonderful time capsule of the 1970s turning into the ‘80s. So put on your little Mickey Mouse shirt and even littler short pants and join us at Camp Crystal Lake… actually, this one's at Camp Packanack, but it's all kind of the same. Apologies, life got crazy with upcoming graduations, job changes, and well life. However, we didn't want to leave you high and dry without an episode this week. We figured if we were going into the vault to rerelease an episode we had to do Steve Miner's House to fit with this month's theme. Apologies and we will be back on Wednesday with the House of a 1000 Corpses episode.

Welcome to the Horror Project Podcast. Join hosts Laura and Phil as they review Lake Placid (1999).This was a first time watch for both us, and it wildly swerved every expectation that we may have had going into it. (We've only waited 25 years to check it out). With an incredibly strong cast delivering performances which left us scratching our heads, Brendan Gleeson we are looking at you!?! With an odd accent which travels from Dublin to Maine, plus everywhere in-between.We also discuss Betty White's disregard for her own cattle and the CGI / animatronic hybrid which creates the giant killer Crocodile. We couldn't help but compare it to the dinosaur's featured in Jurassic Park which was released only 6 years earlier. Plus we shall be finding a place on the leaderboard for the movie during our Ranking. We hope you enjoy the show, thanks for listening!Email - Horrorprojectpodcast@hotmail.com X (Formerly Twitter) - @TheHorrorProje1Instagram - horrorprojectpodcastTikTok - @horrorprojectpodcast

We've always loved Julian Sands, and were saddened to hear of his disappearance and the revelation of his passing in 2023. To celebrate his life and career, we discuss a personal favorite, along with a pair of campier entries that, if nothing else, are fun to laugh about. What happens when a warlock escapes the clutches of death, travels through a portal three centuries into the future, to locate three parts of The Grand Grimoire to undo creation? Well, you'd better believe that a determined witch-hunter follows to try to stop him! Julian Sands is Warlock (1989)!Not into warlocks and all that stuff? Well, how about Julian Sands as an infuriatingly meek surgeon who opportunistically uses a hit-and-run accident to imprison, and physically alter, the woman of his dreams? Probably not a particularly healthy thing to do. It's a story of obsession and possession, with some questionable acting. But hey, if Boxing Helena (1993) is a match for your fetish, you do you.And then from there, if you thought that the acting in Boxing Helena was bad, get ready for some of the most remarkably poor acting you have ever seen from a complete cast. Thankfully, Julian Sands returns as the warlock, the one marginal bright spot. Though it probably would have helped if these actors had some decent dialogue to work with. However, as it stands, Warlock: The Armageddon (1993) is probably best used as a device to torture your enemies.
Jason Teasley and Mark Radulich present their Lake Placid Movie Series 1999 2012 Review. Lake Placid is a series of American monster horror comedy films created by David E. Kelley. Produced and distributed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, the series began with Lake Placid (1999) directed by Steve Miner, and was followed by five television sequels, Lake Placid 2 (2007) by David Flores, Lake Placid 3 (2010) by Griff Furst, Lake Placid: The Final Chapter (2012) by Don Michael Paul, Lake Placid vs. Anaconda (2015) by A.B. Stone, being a crossover with the Anaconda series, and Lake Placid: Legacy (2018) by Darrell Roodt. Each installment revolves around the presence of giant, 30-foot-long man-eating crocodiles in the fictional location of Black Lake, Maine, and the efforts of various groups to capture or destroy the creatures. All of the films (except for Legacy) reference members of the fictitious Bickerman family.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsoFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulich

Two decades after the horrific Halloween night in which Michael Myers returned to Haddenfield, Laurie Strode finds herself desperately trying to put her life back together under an assumed name at an elite private school. Raising her son, Laurie is still haunted by the trauma of that night twenty years ago, unaware that a Shape is lumbering through the darkness directly towards her. At time of recording, it was not ranked on the list of the best movies of all time on the Internet Movie Database.

The coming of the Eclipse marks the end of our "Spooky Penis Season" but as the runes need collected, the druids gather the sparkly Disney juice, and a Sands is born. Yeah, that's right! We're covering one of the late Julian Sands seminal roles as the eponymous WARLOCK! As a trilogy of films, Julian Sands plays the WARLOCK in the first two movies, alongside Richard E. Grant in the original Steve Miner film and Chris Young in the Anthony Hickox sequel. This is the film that we're uncovering this time, in WARLOCK: THE ARMAGEDDON! And we brought a friend, Tighe, ready to speak over "the rudest that ever troubled daylight!" in the most congratulatory and nostalgic episode in a long while. It's a shame that not only is Julian no longer with us but within this month, Anthony, the Director, is sadly no longer with us. Rest in Peace Kings!

To end out #AuGHOST, a celebration of the ghost films released by New World Pictures, we talk about a movie that started a franchise (albeit one New World only half participated In): HOUSE! The film about a haunted house taken over by a deceased owner's nephew with his own strange history brought director Steve Miner and producer Sean S. Cunningham into the New World fold, just as they had finished working on the first three FRIDAY THE 13TH films! Miner would quickly become a go-to director for New World, while Cunningham would shepherd the rest of the franchise, which we will rank in this episode! Also we will discuss the incredible George Wendt, how to flirt your way into getting free babysitting, the wrong way to cook a microwave dinner, and Marc's fascination with toilet flushing! We've had a great time during this #AuGHOST, and HOUSE is the perfect way to close it out!
Join Jeff and Kev as they talk Steve Miner's cult classic, Warlock. Is it a classic? Is it a cult classic? Is it as amazing as some think? Is Julian Sands underrated? Is it entertaining? Is it a good film? All these questions and more you definitely weren't looking to ask in this digestible movie review! You can find the podcast at SunsAndShadows.com or your podcast app of choice! ⛸ "This summer, terror won't be taking a vacation" or so they say with Halloween H2O, which was oddly released at the beginning of August 1998, which marks this week as the film's 25th anniversary. Of course, we at The Cherry Picker like to celebrate Halloween 365 days of the year, so now is just as good a time as ever to revisit this nostalgic little darling. In this episode, we really deconstruct every aspect of Jamie Lee Curtis's initial triumphant return as Laurie Strode, where we talk about everything from the film's extremely flawed production, the 90s Scream influence, and why this is the arguably the best version of Laurie Strode. And as always, you should also stick around til the end so you can help us choose which character you think deserves to die the most.● ● ●▶️ Watch the Video Podcast☑️ Vote in the Cherry Picker● ● ●
What's better than watching Betty White curse out a bunch of cops? We can't think of much — other than getting the chance to gush about it for an hour and a half. And we knew that if we were going to do that, we had to bring in the experts. So we invited Out on the Lanai, the first Golden Girls podcast, to join us on a new Spooky Tuesday as we covered Lake Placid (1999). Half a creature feature and half a Bill Pullman rom-com, this flick features Bridget Fonda mid-breakup spiral as she drags her butt out to the boonies of Maine to flirt with lady cops, banter with eccentric billionaires, and hunt for prehistoric monsters. Whether you're comparing it to The Meg or to Nope or to Ally McBeal, there's no denying that this movie makes for one golden time with the girls.Follow Out on the Lanai on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. With the unfortunate passing of Julian Sands, we wanted to honor this incredible and magnetic actor by releasing a special Patreon episode where we covered 1989's WARLOCK with the film's #1 fan and Retuning Champion, Megan Sunday! Along the way, we dig into the film's hostile attitude toward cats, stay on the lookout for a Steve Miner Butt Shot, learn to use a purse like a Dutch Oven, and generally lust after the hotness that is Julian Sands!! All this, plus we examine the Warlock's complicated relationship to windows, Megan opens up about the kinds of smut she enjoys reading, and Patrick finally explains what the Santa Ana winds are to Gena!! We unpack Matt's lifelong fear of crocodilians by taking a look at 1999's big budget B-movie spectacular, Lake Placid. Is this schlocky special effects extravaganza just a Jurassic Park ripoff, or a sly commentary on the genre with a brilliant cast (Bridget Fonda, Brendan Gleeson, Oliver Platt, Bill Pullman, and Betty White) operating at the top of their game interacting with a killer croc made by a master of practical creature effects (Stan Winston) and directed by a guy (Steve Miner) who seems to know what he's doing? Spoiler: It's the latter. This movie RULES. We were as surprised as you will be. Want to watch this episode? From the depths of Kaijune comes the King of the Monsters.... GODZILLA!But not the Godzilla many fans were expecting when a US remake was announced in the '90s, and not the first attempt to make a US version of the legendary kaiju.Steve Miner had tried to get a 3D version off the ground in 1983, and then there was the infamous Jan de Bont version in 1994. Both stories are fascinating enough, but always lurking in the background of the 1994 version were Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin. They'd been offered Godzilla in the early '90s but turned it down repeatedly. After the 1994 project imploded due to budgetary concerns, they were offered it again. It would be the combined movies of Armageddon and Deep Impact that changed Emmerich's path, and sent him to accept a US remake of Godzilla, alongside Dean Devlin, with full creative control for the pair. And as we know, full creative control always goes to plan... I would love to hear your thoughts on Godzilla (1998) !CONTACT.... linktr.ee/CatchingUpOnCinema This March, “VHS Cover Art” Month returns at Catching Up On Cinema! Every week we'll be reviewing films with incredible cover art from the VHS era. This week, Trevor and Kyle review Steve Miner's, House (1986)! Produced by veteran horror producer Sean S. Cunningham, and written by a young Fred Dekker, House (1986) is a strange supernatural “horror comedy” that feels like a lame imitation of superior contemporary genre films such as Evil Dead (1981), Poltergeist (1982) and Ghostbusters (1984). A tonal mess of a film, House features some decent makeup effects, but the editing lacks energy, and the movie sadly fails to deliver engagement in the form of chuckles or scares. Despite all of these liabilities, House's biggest stumble comes in the form of its clumsy and half-hearted exploration of the Vietnam war and the trauma inflicted upon those that participated in that conflict. While it is apparent that at some point in production, aspects of the script were likely meant to be using supernatural shenanigans and frequent disruptions as some form of nonliteral metaphor for the protagonist's struggle in allowing himself to confront his repressed trauma, (e.g. writing a book about the war) the execution of these elements in the finished film are confusing, underdeveloped, and often lame. Often feeling like a hodgepodge of interesting ideas that found themselves cobbled together in exactly the wrong film, House is a cult horror-comedy that this author sadly found very little enjoyment in viewing, and will likely only remember for its decent effects work and the inherent novelty factor found in its cast of (at the time) contemporary TV stars. A prequel to X (2022) and the second installment in the X film series, it serves as an origin story for the title villain, whose fervent aspiration to become a movie star led her to committing violent acts on her family's Texas homestead in 1918.” NEXT WEEK: Eyes Without a Face (1960)Website: http://www.bloodhauspod.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/BloodhausPod Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bloodhauspod/ Email: bloodhauspod@gmail.com Drusilla's art: https://www.sisterhydedesign.com/ Drusilla's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hydesister/ Drusilla's Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/drew_phillips/ Joshua's website: https://www.joshuaconkel.com/ Joshua's Twitter: https://twitter.com/JoshuaConkel Joshua's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/joshua_conkel/ Joshua's Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/joshuaconkel
