We're heading back to high school for a Legend of ‘99 - that's 25 years ago! When a prank goes wrong leaving the most popular girl in school dead in the trunk of a car, her clique will stop at nothing to cover up their crime. Starring Rose McGowan, Rebecca Gayheart, Julie Benz, and Judy Greer, this film written and directed by Darren Stein didn't take a huge bite out of the box office, with many critics souring it at the time of release. However, as time passed, audiences have come to see it as a cult classic alongside similar films like Heathers and Mean Girls. There has even been talk of a musical or television adaptation. But are we sweet on Jawbreaker, or is this wallflower in desperate need of a makeover?   For more geeky podcasts visit GonnaGeek.com    You can find us on iTunes under ''Legends Podcast''. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 102nd episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. I open with a complicated correction that involves my having mixed up Rachel Nichols and Elisabeth Harnois, the shows they were involved in, their connections to Joss Whedon productions and also cross connections through "Criminal Minds." This set covers discs 1826 to 1850 in my Classic Collection. For my Fuzzy Feature, from Discs 1849 and 1850, comments on the pilot episode of Matt Nix production "The Good Guys," along with my 12th ever "VideoFuzzy the Video" posted here: https://youtu.be/aT5HIqRBS50 I also traced Cross Connections turning up in this collection for Golden Threads Michael O'Neill and Stephen Weber, plus Tahmon Penniket, William B. Davis, Gary Anthony Williams, Erica Gimpel, Ally Walker, Marion Ross, Chrisotpher Lloyd, Scott Bakula, Fred Willard, Swoosie Kurtz, Allison Janney, Terry O'Quinn, Marilyn Manson, Mitch Pileggi, Jon Waters, Bob Clendinen, Neil Patrick Harris, Molly Shannon, John Michael Higgins, Idina Menzel, Judy Greer, Kelsey Grammer, Saul Rubinek, Rachel York, Brent Sexton, Kevin "Repo" Thomas, M.C. Gainey, Kate Vernon and Wade Williams. Plus from "Mid-Century Modern" and elsewhere, I recognize my latest Golden Thread: Bruno Amato. In my Classic Collection, I encountered a few disc errors, suggesting my current DVD player may be wearing out. In the meantime, lots of high-drama season finales in this set. Comments on "Grey's Anatomy," "Fringe," "The Simpsons," "Chuck," "Breaking Bad," and a discussion on the Weeping Angels in "Doctor Who." In Old Business, I track down a musical comedy clip of Martin Short listing celebrities and other notables who refuse to appear on "The Late Show with David Letterman." I'd archived a portion of that one to disc 225 but hadn't seen the first half in perhaps ever until I found it on YouTube in a clip compilation of Martin Short appearances hosted by David Letterman and Paul Schaffer. I posted it here, cued to the 22-minute mark: https://bit.ly/3G52J9e In What I've Been Watching, comments on the Vernal Theatre's outstanding production of "Kiss Me Kate," the second season premiere of "Doctor Who" on Disney+, the first season of "Continuum" and pilot episodes of "Millennium," "Profiler" and "Mid-Century Modern." SPREADING THE WORD! "VideoFuzzy: The Video - Celebrating 100 Episodes!" is posted at https://youtu.be/eWfcCDiOZ2I. Please share as you're able to with anyone you feel might enjoy this production. Kenny and Mike discuss discuss and spot faith elements in the film Eric LaRue. Included in this epispose is an interview with Director Michael Shannon and the film's star Judy Greer.  The film, based on the play by Brett Neveu who also was the screenwriter, presents the parents of a school shooter and the challenges that they face in their lives, their relationships with each other, and with their community. The film also portrays how the faith communities of each parent respond to the needs of the parents as well as the faith and extended communities. Faith Elements:  The film depicts how faith communities and leaders should NOT respond to persons involved or impacted by tragedy. Faith leaders, members, and communities should not be focused on solving the issue and removing the pain but should offer a ministry of presence, allowing the victims to share their pain without a rush to "get through" things.  While faith and faith communities are places to find and receive comfort, they first are places that are willing to step into and be in the midst of the uncomfortable spaces, including pain and anger.  Judy's character responds to her husband's trying to convince her to seek solace in his non-denominal and "giver her burden's to Jesus" by saying she does not want to because they are "my burdens." The incident has become a part of her, and to seek immediate comfort would be forget and deny the incident has happened and is to deny and erase such an important part of their life. Such desire for immediate relief comes through denying the pain and what work that needs to be done.

In this special episode, Jen and Amy get a visit from a Hollywood darling we've loved in countless films and shows like The Descendants, Archer, 27 Dresses, Arrested Development and 13 Going on 30 to talk about her newest project based on the beloved children's book, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever! Actress Judy Greer talks about what it's like to collaborate on such a treasured holiday story that she somehow missed out on as a kid but was lucky enough to discover when she was cast for the role. She sets the scene for what it was like to film the movie last fall in wintry Winnipeg with a cast full of kids on set and also takes a moment to share some highlights from earlier in her career. Also in this episode:  Amy and Jen talk about their mixed feelings toward pageants and public performances. As you might guess, one of them loves them, one hates them. In our GenXcellence segment, Jen and Amy recount their first movie-without-parents experiences. And we Rant or Rave about decorating the house at Christmastime. *** Thought-provoking Quotes:  “I directed so many programs with my sisters and my girl cousins, and my parents were very, very mediocre audience members. If you're going to have four kids, guess what you get to do? You're going to sit on the brown corduroy couch and watch our shitty programs. That's part of the deal. We practiced for six hours. It might seem odd to consider that "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" is kind of an anomaly among Christmas movies: It's set in modern day, but actually focuses on the real meaning of Christmas--you know, the religious meaning.  Perhaps you remember reading the book when you were a kid.  Maybe you've seen the stage production that's made the rounds over the years.  Or maybe you even watched the 1980's TV movie.  But now there is a new feature-length version coming to theaters on November 8th.  In this Movie Show Digital Extra, producers Chet Thomas and Darin McDaniel join Andy Farnsworth to talk about the movie, the 20+ year journey to get it made, the desire and efforts to make sure it stayed fully true to the source material, how they got "The Chosen's" Dallas Jenkins to direct, how they cast the young Herdmans, and why this particular story has resonated with so many people over the decades. The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Lionsgate) stars Judy Greer, Pete Holmes, Lauren Graham, Molly Belle Wright, Beatrice Schneider, Kirk Woller, and Elizabeth Tabish.  Directed by Dallas Jenkins. Based on the book by Barbara Robinson. It's Election Day in the United States -- a crazy, stressful day for so many people -- but we wanted to take a moment here at Breakfast All Day to check in, say hello and share a couple of film reviews in case you need a break from thinking about politics. First, we discuss "Emilia Pérez," a Spanish-language musical from French filmmaker Jacques Audiard. It was a major award winner at the Cannes Film Festival this year, and it's France's Oscar entry in the international feature category. But while we admired the extreme ambition on display, as well as the committed performances from Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña and Selena Gomez, we didn't think it totally worked in the execution. Still, we love a big swing around here. In theaters in limited release and streaming on Netflix starting Nov. 13. Then, we have a little something that'll warm your heart: "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever," an old-fashioned holiday comedy that offers faith-based messages in a way that secular audiences can enjoy, as well. It's based on the beloved children's book and stars Judy Greer, Pete Holmes and Lauren Graham. In theaters Friday. Whatever happens this week, we're here for you, and we'll be back on Friday with Movie News LIVE! at Noon Pacific at our YouTube channel. We hope to see you then.

It's our Season TEN premiere AND our ONE HUNDREDTH EPISODE! Thank you to all of our listeners! We are thrilled to be back with our third Abortionpalooza, but much less stoked about the fact that thanks to the overturning of Roe V. Wade, uterus-owning Americans currently have less bodily autonomy than they did in Nineteen Hundred and Seventy Three.  We kick things off with a brief history of abortion depiction on television and examine season 3, episode 5 of the teen cop drama, 21 Jump Street, "Whose Choice is it Anyway?". It originally aired on December 11th 1988 on the Fox network. It stars Holly Robinson-Peete, Stacey Edwards, and Dana Ashbrook (Twin Peaks). The teleplay by Michelle Ashford (Masters of Sex, Cat Person), is surprisingly progressive and they even go so far as to make an anti-choice terrorist the villain.  Then we tool around with Lily Tomlin and Julia Garner in 2015's "Grandma", directed by Paul Weitz (American Pie, About a Boy), and co-written by Tomlin, who put a lot of her own voice in it. Garner plays a high school girl who asks her free-wheeling grandmother (Tomlin) to help her scrounge up enough money to make it to an abortion appointment by 5 pm. Judy Greer, Marsha Gay Harden, Laverne Cox, and John Cho round out a fun supporting cast.  We touch on themes such as who *needs* to be involved in deciding what to do about a pregnancy (*spoiler alert* it's pretty much just the person carrying the fetus), where should kids get information about pregnancy and birth control, and why women should be valued for more than just their fertility.  On the Lunchtime Poll, we reveal some information we wish we had never received.
