In this podcast, the students tackle the issue of disproportionality in the medical field. Youth host Nicole Crawford dives into the background data of Covid-19 statistics and reveals the disparities in infection rates of minority communities compared to the more significant population. Following this, Nicole gives her personal opinions as to why this should be alarming to all community members and breaks down the backgrounds that we can see rooted in systemic oppression concerning how these foundations have manifested themselves in our society today.

In this podcast, the students tackle the Corona Virus's prominent social issue from an economic lens. Youth host Nicole Crawford first dives into all the data you need to know about how money is circulated and shared in our community. This is then broken down further as she discusses how the economic recession has affected low-income communities and minority-owned small businesses. This podcast acts as a financial resource to the youth and gives insight into how local and global economics have roots in racial disparities. After giving listeners an insight into why this is so important to our communities, she regards the solutions to economic inequity as a communal problem. She leaves them questioning the validity of what it means to be wealthy and financially stable in a capitalist society.

In this podcast, the students tackle equity solutions in an attempt to bridge the gap in resources for our communities. Youth host Nicole Crawford highlights a plethora of local resources and organizations that are doing the work to promote positive and progressive social change in our communities. Among these organizations, she speaks to the Black Child Legacy project in the Sacramento area and its many contributions to reducing child deaths in the Sacramento area. Following this, she then dives into the relevance of these resources in our communities and reveals why resource accessibility is crucial to our collective society's sustainability. Lastly, she shares her perspective on bridging the gap of resources and maintains her stance that accountability is one of the first steps to achieving equity in our local community.

The students discuss how Covid-19 has affected the black youth and specifically hearing from a local Sacramento African American High School student within this podcast. Youth host Marcel Martin discusses how the African American youth's everyday lives were changed and damaged due to Covid-19. One of the most significant changes that he mentioned was how the African American youth was heavily affected by the shutting down of schools all over the nation. Leaving black youths across America with plenty of time on their hands. Marcel also discussed the mental health of the African American youth and how rates of anxiety and depression started to rise due to our political climate involving the death of George Floyd. Marcel also discussed how the evidence that Black people are four times more likely to die from Covid-19 compared to their white counterparts due to inadequate medical resources are causing anxiety, fear, and depression. The students start to talk about how many African American youth are becoming more politically aware and active with protest. Marcel brings up the topic that many young black artists, dancers, singers, and athletes struggle to practice what they love because of COVID-19. Finally, the podcast concludes with an Interview with a local African American youth heavily affected by Covid-19.

Within these podcasts, the students break down how politics were affected because of Covid-19, the black community's socioeconomics, and how has COVID-19 affected us. Youth host Marcel Martins discusses how Covid-19 shed light on the racial disparities affecting our community. One example of racial disparities that he mentioned was the disproportional medical resources and lack of adequate representation. He emphasizes how this could detrimentally tip the number of cases. Marcel then talks about how our healthcare system and the government failed the black community highlighting how America handles things like a pandemic. Finally, he starts to discuss how Covid-19 has affected the black youth, especially in his community. He talks about how life has become extremely hard for the African American community because of COVID-19, not speaking out about health issues within these communities just because they do not affect your misrepresentation results.

Within this podcast, the students discuss how Covid-19 and the events of George Floyd's death and Covid-19 have inspired the African American youth to take to the streets and protest. Youth host Marcel discusses how the wake of the many black lives lost in this time; activism has become well known in all aspects of society. The African American youth have been the primary leaders behind many different political awareness activities and activism during this pandemic. Local activism in the Sacramento area and many different organizations have sparked change for our communities. Marcel then goes on to talk about The Black Child Legacy. This local community organization that focuses on supporting people to tackle the social issues troubling our communities. Like, police brutality, gang violence prevention, black mental health awareness, preventing students from going to prison after school, and human trafficking. Marcel mentions the increased rates of anxiety and stress for African Americans. The students talk about the increased rates of activism within the African American youth, which begs the question, How has COVID-19 affected activism, and how have people found ways to advocate for those in need? Lastly, he discusses how the CARES Act could fund housing, schools, and violence prevention. This is extremely important to the black community because of the dissociate effects caused by COVID-19.

Within this podcast, the students discuss how Covid-19 has impacted the black community on a massive scale in many different ways. Ranging from local impacts, instate impacts, and even more. Youth host Marcel discusses how not being in school due to COVID-19 could limit low-income black students from resources like access to the internet, access to a computer, and tutoring. The students have found that there has also been evidence of disproportionate access to testing based on racial and economic background. If this is the case for regular citizens, then many homeless people in black neighborhoods are prone to infection. He then expresses that African American kids have to survive day to day, be cautious at all times, and more due to their skin color. COVID-19 makes this worse because it confines a community that is already struggling to limited support. The students provide resources and insight on how these negative impacts are being handled. In particular, Marcel mentions the Wi-Fi bus hotspots provided for students within our local community who may have internet problems. Finally, the students discuss how the shutting down of schools has affected student's diets. Many students relied on school for food through free or reduced lunch. The lack of wealth of African American households is a detrimental issue for Black children, causing food and housing insecurity and stress for African American children.

In this podcast, the students give insight into how different school districts create resources and solutions to ensure equal education experiences for all students. Youth host Nicole Crawford brings listeners into this topic by first giving insight into some of the challenges and changes in our educational system due to Covid-19. She then highlights how many of the local school districts in the Sacramento area have taken steps to accommodate these changes better and provide resources to disadvantaged youth. In all, this podcast acts as a resource that gives insight into how our educational system has changed on a local scale and for students and parents in providing specific information on how to find educational resources in their school districts.

In this podcast, listeners hear from the youth how they are perceiving and handling the pandemic from a personal perspective. Your host Nicole Crawford interviews Dominique Brooks, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School, in an engaging, intellectual conversation on how the black youth are pushing to be heard in our community. The students also speak to how we can see racial tensions and a lack of social consciousness on all our society levels, including in how this pandemic is being handled. In all, this conversation is a fantastic representation of the power that our youth holds and how willing our young advocates are to have tough conversations and to create sustainable and long-lasting social change.

In this podcast, the listeners hear an authentic youth conversation on the many struggles we have been faced with during this time. Your host Nicole Crawford engages in an insightful and inquisitive conversation with Natomas Charter School Senior, Lazeane Evans. The students discuss the role of racism and microaggressions in the classroom, youth activism, solutions for the achievement gap often seen in an educational setting, and many more topics. This conversation is one to tune in to hear from both students on how the youth are pushing for progressive social change.

He has been teaching and coaching football for over 18 years now here in the Sacramento area and in that time has had 17 playoff appearances, reached nine section championships, winning seven of them, and reached the state championship game 4 times, winning one of them. However, Coach T doesn’t measure his impact by his success on the football field.
