The Housing News podcast is a weekly wrap of HousingWire's top news stories. This week, Jacob Gaffney talks with John Pataky, TIAA Bank's EVP and chief consumer and commercial banking executive. With GDP coming in strong, is the chance of recession finally remote, or is the sky falling? Plus, if your tech isn't what Millennials want, can you survive long term? Listen to find out.
HousingWire's Jacob Gaffney visited with Movement Mortgage CEO Casey Crawford minutes after announcing his company's Jan. 9, 2019, acquisition of Eagle Home Mortgage's retail operations. Movement announced the move as part of a presentation to Eagle's combined Bellevue, WA, offices just outside of Seattle. Gaffney and Crawford discussed the transaction, the "why" behind it for Movement and the overall outlook of M&A in 2019.
Millennials aren't buying homes! Millennials prefer to rent! Millennials only want to live in the city! We've all heard conflicting info about the millennial generation in regards to whether or not they even want to buy homes. It's getting hard to know what to believe. But as the single largest demographic of potential home buyers out there, we should probably get to the bottom of what is important to them, and learn how to speak their language. As you know because you listen to this show, we have to know how to speak to our audience in a way that resonates with them to get their attention. So how do we do that with millennials? This week we brought in Jacob Gaffney, the Editor-In-Chief of HousingWire, to find out what the truth is about millennial homebuyers. HousingWire is a well respected, highly reputable source of real estate industry news. One of the biggest reasons why is because of Jacob Gaffney and his leadership. They research and investigate each story so deeply, and are so well rounded in their coverage, that I could think of no one better to educate us on millennial home buyers than Jacob Gaffney.
Jacob Gaffney is the Editor-in-Chief of HousingWire and HousingWire.com. He previously covered securitization for Reuters and Source Media in London before returning to the US in 2009.
