We start off this week with a quick chat with Jamie Bishop, gasman for NASCAR Truck driver Parker Kligerman, who won Saturday's event at Mid-Ohio. Jamie is a longtime friend and supporter of the show who may ... or may not ... return the victory-lane caps he was given by Parker following Saturday's victory. In the third and final installment of our interview with Todd Bodine, Todd discusses the day that his older Geoff was involved in that just absolutely horrifying accident during the inaugural Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona. He also talks about his THRILLING Busch Series wins at Kentucky and Darlington … but NOT the one he pulled off at Rockingham. Finally, we wrap up our conversation with his move to the truck series, his championships and finally the move to television.Hosts Rick Houston and Steve Waid then dig into the November 23, 2006 issue of NASCAR Scene, which featured extensive coverage of championship efforts by Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Todd Bodine, Mark Martin's final win and departure from Roush Racing and Rick's 2006 reaction to polls naming Mark Martin as the greatest driver in Busch Series history. On this show I down with a man about town, Mr. Jamie Bishop. Jamie isn't just a musical professional, he also has a very D-I-Y work ethic and has started multiple successful businesses – just in the time I've known him. He's been successful in all of his pursuits and has earned himself a reputation for being a dependable and contributing member of Harford County. But, before we put too much shine on the shoe, I also know Jamie likes to have a good time and cut-up. When he's not pickin' n' grinnin' or strummin' the sorrow, he's likely at a local brewery catching up with friends. Join me in welcoming friend and fellow musician, Mr. Jamie Bishop to THE MOG!As always, we did a deep dive into the origin story of this artist from Baltimore, MD. #music #baltimore #acoustic Veteran Avenue - "Lovesick & Sorry" featuring Jamie Bishop on drums: https://open.spotify.com/album/1uWfHwJG3bwGBKgawUBDs3?si=QgjM9kIRShqBv7WjgT72YwSpecial thanks to: Double Groove Brewing, Vagabond Sandwich Company, Music Land Store, Heather Sipes - Baltimore Decal Gal, Black Eyed Suzie's, REB Records-MD & Caprichos Books

This week Beer Sessions is heading down the Hudson River. Jimmy welcomes Sam Merrett and his carbon-neutral sail freighter Schooner Apollonia; Dennis Nesel from Hudson Valley Malt in Germantown, NY; Matt Curtin from Sing Sing Kill Brewery in Ossining, NY; and Jamie Bishop from Mill House Brewing Company in Poughkeepsie, NY. Sam and Dennis lament on how things used to be, citing the “Flintstones” method of making malt and the old trade routes up and down the waterways. Now up against the climate crisis, Sam is hoping the Schooner Apollonia will become the future of transporting malt and other products around New York. Jamie, who already uses Hudson River water to make his beers, emphasizes just how cool it is to see his malt supply unloaded from the river. He also declares maltsters the “heroes of brewing,” since every malt has a unique signature that creates all different craft beer styles. Matt says he always aims to formulate his beers with close to 100% New York State ingredients, and the Schooner Apollonia has helped put a special story behind his beers. Sam, who controversially admits he’s “not a beer guy” also talks about the special connections he’s fostered with the group and the endless possibilities that can come with establishing more trade routes along the water in the future.Heritage Radio Network is a listener supported nonprofit podcast network. Kyle Royer who is a master smith from America came over to Australia to the Blade Symposium to teach his skills to the Australian knife makers. He also ran a masterclass on mosaic Damascus for 4 days after the Symposium. Having tasted what Australia has to offer food, views, animals, the bush and of course knives. Jamie Bishop from Sausage Man Forge has a walk around and chats to some of the makers who attended the Blade symposium to see what they thought. How he has found his trip in Australia. Bushwalks and tourist areas in Sydney. How he found teaching live as opposed to online teaching and online courses. Getting to see the knife that someone made from his takedown bowie course. How Josh Royer is very responsible for masking the video and online stuff happen. Josh filming and having his camera tethered to a projector screen so over 70 people could watch like they were next to him. He enjoyed the knife sharpening competition and thinks that people should do at things like hammer ins. He talks about the work he will be doing when he gets home involving the other half of the mosaic billet he made for the show. Potentially making another sword after he’s back to America. Chats about why he likes the show at Little Rock Arkansas. What it’s like to have people come and show him their knives everywhere he goes. Tells us what he learned from knife makers specifically Jackson Rumble. We discuss the ABS and passing on tradition and skills from one maker to another. The time it took for him to go through the ABS system. He says he’s very humbled to have been asked to com Kyles Master Yoda ending. Make your metal flat and keep your forge hot. Jamie Bishop had a chat with some of the makers from the Symposium and then did a bit of a run down for the symposium. https://www.instagram.com/sausagemanforge/ Links https://www.instagram.com/kyleroyerknives/ Scoutcrafter YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/ScoutCrafter Find us at https://www.instagram.com/tobyfireandsteel/ https://www.facebook.com/MurrillandSon/ Products and site www.tobyfireandsteel.com Email toby@tobyfireandsteel.com TFS Knifemaker Challenge Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/711126822742169/ Handle contour video https://youtu.be/GhurYaJwBQU Knifeprint Toby Fire and steel affiliate link
Who is Kev Slattery? A knife maker, teacher and the president of the Knife Art Association. Since leaving the IT industry, Kev Slattery has become a well-recognized part of the Australian knife making community. This throwback interview was recorded at last year’s symposium for YouTube, so I thought it fitting to share it for the first time with this amazing podcast community. What we spoke about Kev has been a full-time knifemaker since leaving his job as a systems administrator approximately 7/8 years ago. Behind every fulltime knifemaker is a partner with a well-paid job. He got into knife making when he asked his wife for a knife course for his birthday instead of the usual car parts. When teaching knifemaking courses, he does 2 knives so students can learn and then reinforce their learnings. He talks about a way he has chosen to teach his students. Knifemakers don’t make mistakes we just make smaller knives. How to set out his workshop instead of just putting the most recent tool in next. His favourite knives to make are hunting knives, but also makes others like kitchen knives. Getting tips from master smiths at Blade Show and making changes to your knives. Disk grinders. Started out grinding knives on a belt sander. Grinding belt use rotation. How Kev’s pricing structure works. Knife show etiquette and what to expect. When a show spectator uses you Australian Knife Makers Guild Patch as a coffee coaster. Acidic fingerprints on a carbon steel knife. Being a full-time knifemaker, how he manages to get out and keep sane. You start making knives out of scrap steel, people start dumping scrap steel on your driveway. Buy steel, buy a grinder and make knives. You can get a false perception of how good your knives are when you have nice friends. I see some of my old knives and I’d love to get them all back and replace them. A 2015 issue of the journal American Imago featured four essays focused on grief and loss. The issue, titled "Memory and Remembrance: Essays in Psychoanalytic Autobiography", contains "Lockout: Spacing Trauma and Recovery in the Aftermath of the Virginia Tech Shootings," an essay written by Virginia Tech University faculty, Stefanie Hofer. She lost her husband, Jamie Bishop, on April 16, 2007 during the deadliest school rampage in the US history. Hofer joined us to talk about her post-traumatic writing and how it has helped her to persevere and heal.

Does a man's use of porn harm his wife's heart? What if you were a Christian woman and you discovered that your husband was looking at porn? Would it bother you? Would it be upsetting to you? Would it make you feel insecure or unsure about yourself? Would it make you feel like something was wrong with you, because if he was satisfied with you, he wouldn't be looking at porn... right? And then, what if you discovered that he was looking at porn... over and over and over again? Hear the AMAZING story of Jamie Bishop, and how her husband's use of porn deeply effected her heart, and created a growing vulnerability within her that eventually led to her affair with another man. Although this marriage was clearly moving toward complete destruction, you'll be surprised to hear how God intervened in an unusual way to prove there's no situation outside of his redemptive reach. Not only can God heal a man's addiction to pornography, but he can also heal a woman's deeply broken heart.
