This week, Madison is joined by National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame Director of Research and Education, Bethany Dodson and Information Literacy Librarian and Professor at Middle Tennessee State University, Jason Vance to discuss 2024 Cowgirl Honoree, The Pack Horse Library Project. The Pack Horse Library Project ran from 1936 to 1943, with librarians on horseback traveling 10,000 square miles of rugged eastern Kentucky to provide reading materials to isolated families, some of the hardest hit by the Great Depression. The WPA “book women” rode out at least twice a month, in all kinds of weather, with each route covering 100 to 120 miles a week. At its height, the program helped serve almost 100,000 people. By the time the Pack Horse Library Project ended in 1943, it had made a lasting impact on the people of rural Appalachia. This is an exciting day! We got Jason Vance on the show for today and today is the release of the 50th episode for the Business Shift! Jason has been experimenting with ideas and business since the late 90's. He's worked with some of the largest companies in the world and his friend's mom down the street. He's married with 6 kids and a large black dog and once had a client's website go down because of a lawn mower. He's been doing this a long time. He's had huge clients and small ones. Big wins and catastrophic losses. To connect with Jason: Website: https://jasonvance.com/
This week Clint and Dawson sit down with Jason Vance. Jason has been riding bicycles for 40 years. He began racing in the late 90's while at Oregon, focusing on track cycling. After moving to Nevada to pursue graduate studies, He was introduced to MTB'ing by a colleague and would eventually abandon all skinny-tired aspirations. An academic position would bring him to Charleston SC; after navigating the hurdles of tenure (and addressing his neglected health), He fell in love with the rugged trails in Pisgah Forest. Through chance encounters, he stumbled upon the southeast ultra-endurance community in 2018, via Eric Wever's Pisgah 36, Kim Jordan Murrell's Dirty 130, and Karlos Rodriguez Bernart's Cross Florida ITT. He soon found himself craving long miles across the beautiful forest roads and trails of western NC, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia -and any chance he is forced to take a 30 minute nap in the dirt. Currently, he is first to ride all of the ITT's in the Cherokee forest in 3 days. First to do all three on an single speed. First to do the Mountain 430 in the opposite direction. And the first to do the Dirty 130 in the opposite direction. Thanks for listening! Find all our episodes at dayfirepodcast.com This podcast is powered by ZenCast.fm

Trappers Alvin Yates, Billy Thompson, Jason Vance, Brian Bernoski, Bob Wiseman, Frank Short and Steve Rankin join me around the table and talk trapping in front of a pretty good crowd. We talk about how they got started trapping, their favorite animal to trap, challenges to trapping and advice to new trappers, all while joking around and giving each other a hard time. Enjoy!

On this week’s episode, we talk with Jason Vance, a former web design freelancer who’s building his next company in marketing. In just 9 months, Jason has hired 9 employees for his marketing agency because there's a whole lot of work that needs to get done. But now Jason feels like he may be holding his team back by causing a bottleneck. It's hard going from doing everything yourself to hiring and trusting employees to take on important tasks. But it’s a subject Clay and I have a TON of experience in which leads to a fantastic conversation with Jason about productivity, systems, empowerment, and trust. In this episode of the podcast I sat down and had a conversation with Fayth Martinez & Jason Vance. Fayth's father opened up the first Blue Boutique back in the mid 80's. Now Fayth helps run and manage all of the Blue Boutiques here in Utah as well as Va-Va-Voom, the sister store of Blue Boutique that Fayth & Jason own in Wendover, Nevada. We also talk porn, sex toys, and Utah's silly liquor laws which lead us into conversation of Jason's documentary that he is working on called Behind Zion's Curtain.
