Chez NVIDIA, l'intelligence artificielle n'est plus seulement un outil, c'est un cap stratégique. Le géant des cartes graphiques, mené par Jensen Huang, affiche désormais un objectif ambitieux : parvenir à un rendu 100 % IA dans les jeux vidéo.Depuis plusieurs années déjà, le deep learning s'est invité dans nos parties. Les joueurs connaissent bien le DLSS, ce Deep Learning Super Sampling qui permet d'améliorer la fluidité et la qualité d'image grâce à l'IA. Dans sa troisième version, il introduisait la « frame generation », intercalant une image générée par IA entre deux images calculées classiquement par le GPU. Avec le DLSS 4, NVIDIA va encore plus loin : ce sont désormais jusqu'à trois images créées par l'intelligence artificielle qui peuvent s'insérer entre deux images « réelles ». Une technologie regroupée sous le terme de Neural Rendering, ou rendu neuronal.Et ce n'est qu'un début. Lors de la conférence Hot Chips 2025, organisée fin août à l'université de Stanford, NVIDIA a confirmé que son horizon est clair : un futur où chaque image d'un jeu serait intégralement produite par l'intelligence artificielle. Pour atteindre ce but, l'entreprise mise sur sa nouvelle architecture Blackwell et sur la puissance colossale de cartes comme la GeForce RTX 5090. Dotée de 32 Go de mémoire vidéo GDDR7 et d'une bande passante record de 1 792 Go/s, cette carte a été pensée pour supporter la gourmandise du rendu neuronal. Autre élément clé : l'utilisation du format FP4, qui réduit l'empreinte en mémoire et accélère les calculs, un pas indispensable vers cette révolution.Mais au-delà des performances, NVIDIA met aussi en avant un argument énergétique. Le rendu neuronal, en optimisant les calculs, pourrait réduire la consommation électrique des GPU, un atout majeur pour les ordinateurs portables. Alors, quand verra-t-on des jeux 100 % IA ? Pas tout de suite, reconnaît NVIDIA. Mary Fowler is the latest guest on the Official Man City Podcast!
