I don't think it's hyperbole to say that Jeffery is one of the most humbling guests we've ever had on the show. He has taken one of the most tragic things that can happen to a fellow human – the death of half of his family in a devastating car crash – and let him lead him on a journey of healing and trying to help the world. In our conversation, he goes into detail about his experiences after the accident, and how he realised that we might be living heaven on earth. Jeffery has a sense of humour and humility and beyond that, he is a shining example of radical hope and acceptance in action. KEY TAKEAWAYS - if we could consider each other as part of the human family and aim to care for one another and work through our disagreements rather than shutting each other out, we could heal so much of what feels so disconnected in the world. - choosing joy is just that: a choice. It might be difficult at first and feel very counter-intuitive, but joy is like a muscle. It gets stronger with practice. - listening can be one of the most spiritual experiences and services you can do. It requires complete presence to be with another person and not be fast-forwarding until the point where you get to talk. - replace the word “devil” with “ego”. “Get behind me, ego.” BEST MOMENTS (Jeffrey's personal mantra) “I am a powerful, loving manifestation of the divine creator”. “Wisdom is intelligence applied. I have the knowing, but have I done anything about it?” “I don't claim that I can go about healing people with cancer…but I do claim to go about and love them and walk with them as they go and deal with whatever their journey is, which is perfect, even if it looks completely different than mine or anyone else's.” “I don't know if anything is out of order; I think there is a divine order to all of it, if I'm willing to see it, open my eyes and see it.” ABOUT THE GUEST Jeffery was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Utah. He is an author, a speaker, a creative director, a spiritual keeper, and a shaman. Most importantly, he considers himself a man, a human being, who tries to be of service in the ways he can. In 1997, Jeff and his whole family (his wife and two young boys) were in a car accident. His wife and one of his children were killed on impact, and Jeff himself was seriously injured – a small selection of what he dealt with was a broken back, his left leg needing to be amputated above the knee, and a collapsed lung. But before he knew what his road to recovery would entail, he left his body and crossed over to the other side, where he was told he had to go back. From that moment, Jeffery was set on a spiritual path. He studied every tradition he could think of, and in his speeches and one-on-one mentoring work, he tries to help people cross over to the other side of their own obstacles. Beyond his public speaking and his individual coaching, Jeff is a best-selling author of several books. He has spent his life in the pursuit of joy and spiritual freedom. He has remarried and enjoys being a family man. 26 years ago Jeffery C. Olsen and Dr. Jeff O'Driscoll's lives crossed in ways that no one could ever imagine.  Their story goes beyond simple belief and into the stratospheres of the miraculous, leading them to form a friendship and bond that would last forever.  In March 1997,  Jeffery Olsen was in a horrific car accident that took the lives of his wife, Tamara and his youngest son, Griffin, leaving himself fighting for his own life - riddled with horrendous injuries, ongoing life-threatening complications, and an amputated leg above the knee.  An event, filled both with unimaginable devastation and miracles, Jeffery Olsen was a supreme witness to it all  - having both near-death and near-life experiences that colored his world and imprinted on his being.  Dr Jeff, one of his physicians, was his own witness during that day - seeing and communicating directly with Jeffery's deceased wife in the operating room, along with a resident nurse,  and being given a blessed message of his patient's future.     In this special two part episode, we ask the deep questions of the heart, of the soul, and of a life well-lived as they both share their extraordinary learnings, experiences, and vulnerabilities - collectively through this event and individually in their own lives.  If you are looking for a message of strength, peace, and completion, this is one talk that will stay with you long after you listen and as you go back to listen and remember, again and again.   To learn more about their works in the world and their award-winning books, go to: For Jeffery C. What is a shared-death experience?  You will find out on this fascinating episode, The Veil Pt 2, where I interview Dr. Jeff O’Driscoll, an attending emergency room physician while Jeff Olsen (in the previous podcast episode, The Veil Pt 1) was fighting for his life. While in the hospital room, Dr. Jeff shared a profound “lifting of the veil” experience with a nurse wherein they beheld Jeff Olsen’s wife who had passed on that day. Through this and other veil-rending experiences throughout his life, Dr. Jeff – like Jeff Olsen in the previous episode – has developed a larger vision for humanity and a respect for the unique paths of each human soul. After decades as a trauma one emergency room physician, he is now doing healing work and speaking full time. His book, Not Yet: Near Life Experiences and Lessons Learned is a 2018 Best of State Award Winner.   Dr. Jeff O’Driscoll’s personal mission creed is, “I exist to help souls heal.”  Beautiful, isn’t it? In this episode: What actually IS “the veil”? His profound experience with a homeless man in the Emergency Room Why it is imperative that we allow someone else the freedom to walk their own spiritual path, even – and especially – if it is not ours. What he would say to someone who says God respects our free agency and so, “He does not intervene.” Why is it so important to be OPEN to truth, in whatever source it comes from? And the bomb… Is there just “one way” to follow God? If you missed the previous episode, Episode 019: The Veil Pt 1: Beyond Religion, Beyond Beliefs, Beyond Death, please go back and listen! Jeffery C. Olsen shares how all of life is in divine order and how belief systems can really mess with our souls. (and not in a good way!) These next 2 episodes – The Veil Pt 1 & 2 – turned out to be very special.  Jeffery C. Together, Jeff and I explore the deeper meaning of spirituality, religion and truth.  He's the creative director of BYU-tv, an international speaker, a spiritual healer, and bestselling author of the book “Knowing: Memoirs of a Journey Beyond the Veil and Choosing Joy After Tragic Loss.” Jeff says his greatest joy comes from being a husband and father.
