A Heart after God Bible Teaching Ministry with Pastor Brad Abley
Why Is There Suffering or evil in the World? This is a common question for humanity. Today's passage in Luke 13:1-5 addresses this issue, but it's only one area among the vast answers in Scripture which address this critical topic. Today's message is most vital because the answers come from Jesus. On occasion, someone has told me, "Ok; I'll give you the answer, but it may not be what you want to hear!" And usually, the person is correct. The truth may sting but it always helps to change behavior and thinking. This is what we find from the teaching of Jesus today -- a teaching He addressed regarding current events of His day -- and in direct response from someone who wanted to know the reason for suffering and evil.

The devotional reading for today can be found in Luke 7:1-17 where I discussed the two miracles that he performed and what we can learn from it. Thanks to our Spotify sponsor for the music, you just heard and if you want to look for it the title of the song is "I Believe it Now" by Side Prophets and Olivia Lane. My prayer is that you will have a great faith when you pray to Him. Always remember to Come to Jesus and that he loves you and that when you pray come to him with humility and great Faith that he will heal and answer your prayer. I hope that you won't just open your ears and heart as you listen to His message but that you will also apply it in your life. Take care and stay blessed!

Christians believe that our sins are forgiven when we have faith in Christ. But how do I know that I have faith? Is forgiveness what I really need from Jesus? In Luke 7:36-50, Jesus confirms that forgiveness is what we most need and identifies superior love as the best evidence for the experience of forgiveness.
Terry starts our series looking at various people's encounter's with Jesus by looking at the story of Bartimaeus through the eyes of Luke.
WHO IS THIS MAN, JESUS? This is still the central question Luke's constantly bringing us to. Who is Jesus? In Luke 9:18-20, Jesus asks Peter who he thinks he is. Peter's reply: "God’s Messiah." Many in our time see Jesus as merely a great moral teacher. He had some wonderful things to say, but he is a "god". But this brings us to a problem that I will let C. S. Lewis, author of Mere Christianity explain: "I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I'm ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don't accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. ... Now it seems to me obvious that He was neither a lunatic nor a fiend: and consequently, however strange or terrifying or unlikely it may seem, I have to accept the view that He was and is God."* Lewis brings us to the same intersection Jesus brought Peter. We must decide who we believe Jesus to be. * Lewis, C. S., Mere Christianity, London: Collins, 1952, pp. 54–56. (In all editions, this is Bk. II, Ch. 3, "The Shocking Alternative.")
From the series "Prayer" as part of Practicing The Way. Prayer was the center point of Jesus’ relationship with the Father. It was woven into the fabric of his daily life, and it seems like it wasn’t a chore for him - he really enjoyed his Father’s company. Most of us can’t relate to that. Prayer feels boring or awkward or hard. Could it be that we have yet to experience prayer like Jesus? In Luke 11, Jesus’ disciples ask, Teach us to pray! Jesus’ answer is a framework for prayer that has the potential to open up a whole new dimension to our life with the Father.
