Welcome back to another fun filled week of FroKnowsPhoto RAWtalk. This week we start of with my “whitewater rafting” photos that I discussed last week. We didn’t have an official plug but we discussed Kessler Crane and RedRock Micro both who make awesome gear. Yup Getty is being sued for 1 Billion Dollars for allegedly selling a photographers work which was donated to the library of congress years ago. You can find all the Photo News stories starting at 21:38 . You will find stories on what Getty Photographers will be using at the Olympics, what $125,000 worth of Nikon gear looks like and that Segate has rolled out 10TB hard drives. I think many of you will be happy that D d d d d Dan was able to cut the photo news stories right into the video. This is something we’ve been wanting to do for a long time and I wanted to let you know that it will continue to evolve as time goes on. Don’t forget to hashtag things you feel are hashtagable and leave them as comments wherever you are watching. Please be sure to LIKE / COMMENT / SHARE all of the videos as that helps us reach even more people. Welcome back to another WEEK of RAWtalk which so happens to top the two hour mark once again. Did you know that Facebook mobile automatically corrects your image when you post it? Yup, they do, but you can turn that function off which I highly recommend doing. Go into your mobile settings and turn off the option for auto correcting images that you publish via mobile. You get to see the new I SHOOT RAW t-shirt commercial for the 8-bit “DOOM” shirt. There were a ton of Flying Solo questions this week with many of them asking me to discuss shooting weddings. I don’t think I have shared so much info on how to market for and shoot weddings ever. If you want to shoot weddings and command a higher than average price you may want to check this weeks show out. We didn’t spin the Wheel of FRO once this week, we didn’t spin it twice, we spun it THREE TIMES!!!! Did you get to spin it? Gear of the week showed us the Kessler Crane and the Aputure 7 inch field monitor that comes in at only $219. Thank you for watching or listening to this weeks show, without you guys the show would not be possible.
The fine folks at Kessler Crane recently sent me one of their most popular products, the PocketDolly v2, for review. The PocketDolly is an inexpensive yet incredibly well made dolly specifically designed for Video DSLRs. The PocketDolly measures 38.5 inches yet provides approximately 35 inches of travel allowing some the addition of some great movements […]
Episode 27 - iPhone 4 Music Videos - on the Digital Convergence Podcast by 16x9 Cinema with host Carl Olson - a visual artist, photographer, and filmmaker based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Sponsored by Kessler Crane. Featuring: iPhone 4 Music Video filmakers Kyle Roberts (Dr. Pants' Sarsaparilla Girl) and Marty Martin (Steve Failows' FLAKJAKT Cascade). Kyle Roberts, whose day job is working with pro broadcast video, talks to us about how he stood in line for the iPhone 4 as soon as it was available and decided to attempt to make on of the first music videos made on an iPhone 4. He connected with Dr. Pants and filmed the video for their song - Sarsaparilla Girl - at Pops (one of the largest root beer stores in the USA) along Route 66. Kyle's video received mentions on NPR and in USA Today. Kyle talks about his stop-motion filmaking with a Canon 7D camera and Dragon Stop-Motion software. Marty Martin, who is an independent filmaker, photographer, and visual effects artist, also attempted to be one of the first to produce an iPhone 4 music video. He teamed up with songwriter and musician Steve Failows of FLAKJAKT. Steve wrote the song Cascades specifically for Marty's iPhone 4 music video. Filmed in a number of locations, Marty talks about the challenges he faced in working with the limitations of the iPhone 4. An interesting side-point: both interviews were conducted on the very iPhone 4s used to create the music videos :)
Episode 8 of the Digital Convergence Podcast by 16x9 Cinema with host Carl Olson - a visual artist, photographer, and filmmaker based in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The guest for this episode is Eric Kessler, founder and CEO of Kessler Crane. Eric talks about how and why he founded Kessler Crane - manufacturer of jibs, dollies, sliders, and cranes for videographers and filmmakers. He relates how hyrid DSLR cameras have made a huge impact on Kessler Crane's product lineup and development. He shares exciting details of their new Oracle electronic motor control system married with the CineSlider. At the time of recording this podcast (February 25, 2010), Philip Bloom was beta testing Kessler Crane's Oracle system and the CineSlider. We take a few moments to speculate on the future of controllers, time-lapse photography and motion control. This episode is a long one - almost 50 minutes in length! But the time flies by as Eric enthuses on everything motion control and hybrid DSLRs.

The first in our series of shorts comes episode number 7. A quick and dirty 20 minutes covering all things San Francisco (yes we know San Fran was a while ago but bear with us, thats what the shorts are for, to get caught up, even though we recorded it weeks ago and it should have been posted already, and we already recorded the second short about Seattle, and that one isn't even edited yet, but I digress). We cover the iPhone 3GS (again), the Olsen Twins, the Boxee Meetup, Adam's iPhone fail, and drunk Jamie gets a free ride. All this and more brought to you by Kessler Crane. Ok here we go - Filmblazer Weekly Episode 6: My Name's Jack! Has it really been a month since our last podcast? Indeed it has fellow Filmblazers. We actually recorded this podcast when our intrepid duo was in San Francisco but alas, as life always gets the better of us, it has taken a while to edit. But go easy on the podcast editor, after all, the Shreveport movie isn't even up on the website yet. And the premiere was 2 months ago! Is it even finished yet? No one knows for sure. So on to the good bits: In this episode, brought to you as always by our friends at Kessler Crane, we explore all things Albuquerque. From the horrible campgrounds in San Francisco to the corrupt files that caused the Albuquerque movie to be a tad unfinished. Learn how hard it is to find a desert in the middle of the desert, all about green chili (chile?), the problems with writing the movie, what a zia is, Josh's 11 year rain dance, the fighting words at the premiere, the Epic Trip from NM to CA, and some pie that is better than Strawns (watch out Shreveport). Hot off the heels of Episode 3, here comes Episode 4 of Filmblazer Weekly, now featuring intro and outtro "music." In this episode, covering all the events of T3 Shreveport, we hear firsthand accounts of many of the events from the kickoff to the premiere of "Never Left the Building." Also, in this rather educational episode, you will learn of the best coffee in the world, the difference betweeen 4 and 400 million dollars, how to get free pizza, how to run your own editing sweatshop, and where to get the best pies in Shreveport. And as a side note - Adam pretty much doesn't talk for the last half of the podcast - its because the internet in the BattleWagon was spotty and he couldn't hear Josh and Jamie that well.
