The narrative unfolds with accusations, revelations, and a dark confrontation that leads to a tragic conclusion, leaving the audience questioning the nature of love and trust. In the shadowy corners of human relationships, suspicion can brew like a potent potion, transforming love into a tangled web of doubt and fear. This narrative explores the mysterious interplay between witchcraft and suspicion, as told through the lens of a couple caught in a whirlwind of love and mistrust. The Enchantment of Love: In the beginning, love often feels like magic. This 1955 novella--it's slim, tricky and SO GOOD--is the bedrock of Mexican literature. Its complexities and virtuoso innovations make it particularly exciting to look at in depth. Parsha "Vaetchanan" (for "And I pleaded," Deuteronomy 3:23 - 7:11) is arguably THE portion that contains some of the most important "statutes and commandments" in the Bible. Not only "the Ten," but also the one known often simply as "The Shema," for the first word, and the fact that Yahushua called it the Greatest Commandment of all, 'Hear, O Isreal...YHVH Elohenu, YHVH Echad." And you shall YHVH with "all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might." The Erev Shabbat reading includes that, and more: https://hebrewnationonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/SSM-8-8-25-Vaetchanan-teaching-podcast-xxx.mp3 During the Sabbath Day midrash, Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship suggests that there are several elements in the 'theme' of this parsha that are not only central to our understanding, but also must serve as a basis for some of the most important questions - and the tests that will answer them! - that explain what has gone wrong with a nation, and a world, that has not only forgotten Him - but apparently HATES Him. And they are fundamental to what we must 'come out of,' and thus Who we serve. This portion is, at least in part, about idolatry, and certainly obedience to His "statues, judgments, and commandments." And He says THREE TIMES, in this parsha alone, that He is the 'Jealous God,' literally, "El Kana." There is an important connection in that theme. And Mark suggest that He has told us EXACTLY what we need to know in order to "rightly divide the Word," and discern the difference between the fake and the Real. SCRIPTURE: Daniel 6 SHOW NOTES: We invite you to visit our ministry website, Discover God's Truth, where you will discover additional resources to support your spiritual journey. Daniel was an amazing man who believed in the power of fervent prayer. The more we study his life, the more we are challenged by his commitment to the Lord and his faithful prayer life. He was taken captive to Babylon as a young teenager and served there for over 60 years. In this historical episode, he learns that the king has signed a decree stating that no one should pray to any god or man for thirty days, except to King Darius. "Daniel became distinguished above all the other high officials and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him. And the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. Then the high officials and the satraps sought to find a ground for complaint against Daniel with regard to the kingdom, but they could find no ground for complaint or any fault, because he was faithful, and no error or fault was found in him to criticize or condemn. He was faithful, always responsible, and completely trustworthy." Daniel 6:3-4The text does not explain why the other officials wanted to remove Daniel. Perhaps his integrity made it difficult for them to engage in bribery, fraud, and political corruption. They knew Daniel was a God-fearing man who did not worship pagan idols, so they devised a plan to trap him."When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house, where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously." Daniel 6:10 Daniel's choice: obey his God or the government. It was very clear to Daniel that he would obey God. The new decree did not deter him! He would continue to pray three times each day for the city's welfare and give thanks before his God! Then the king commanded, and Daniel was brought and cast into the den of lions. The king declared to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, deliver you!” Daniel 6:16SONG: "Before the Throne of God Above" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MUNywhsZPU

The only sitting U.S. president to ever be arrested was Ulysses S. Grant, who was busted THREE TIMES for the same crime: speeding. The first was 9th April, 1886, when he tore through Washington, D.C. in a horse-drawn buggy. General Grant scoffed at the idea of getting arrested and simply rode off: the 1860s version of flipping the bird. Grant's love for fast horses wasn't just a reckless hobby—it was part of his identity. Even at West Point, he was known more for his exceptional riding skills than his military prowess, and his ability to charge fearlessly into battle on horseback had made him an unstoppable force in the Civil War, leading the Union Army to victory. But back in peacetime D.C., his speed-demon tendencies weren't quite as heroic.
