In this episode of The Daily Windup, we talk about the challenges and solutions faced by the Hawaiian community during the pandemic. We talk about collaborations with the Governor of Hawaii to tackle the high unemployment rate caused by the travel industry's collapse. Through brainstorming sessions and identifying various problems, they developed a groundbreaking initiative—creating a university to train individuals in STEM fields and provide opportunities for technological advancements. One of the major hurdles they encountered was the lack of high-speed internet access on certain islands, such as Molokai. So a unique solution called "university in a box" was born. This innovative approach involved a specialized version of XF 5,000, an application capable of running offline on laptops. Students could access all the university's resources and training material without an internet connection and periodically synchronize their progress during visits to designated locations with high-speed internet. Join us in this insightful episode as we explore the transformative power of education and technology in rebuilding communities and fostering economic growth.

Steve Scully, an IT contractor who worked on Jeffrey Epstein's private island, delivered a damning revelation about former President Bill Clinton's presence on Little Saint James. According to Scully, he personally saw Clinton at Epstein's villa, making it clear that the former president had, in fact, visited the notorious location despite years of denials. Clinton's longstanding claims that he was never on Epstein's island have been called into question by multiple witnesses and flight logs showing that he flew on Epstein's private jet—the infamous “Lolita Express”—on numerous occasions. Scully's testimony aligns with broader suspicions that Clinton, like many other powerful figures, maintained a relationship with Epstein far deeper than he publicly admitted. While Clinton's spokesperson dismissed Scully's account as false, no reasonable explanation has been provided for why the former president's name appears so frequently in Epstein's flight logs, or why multiple sources have tied him to the island. This is yet another example of how the rich and powerful have been shielded from true accountability in the Epstein scandal, with damning evidence swept aside while key figures attempt to rewrite history. In July 2019, during a search of Jeffrey Epstein's Manhattan mansion, FBI agents discovered a locked safe containing hard drives, CDs, diamonds, and passports. Due to the initial search warrant's limitations, agents photographed but did not seize these items. Upon returning with a broader warrant, they found the items missing; however, Epstein's attorney, Richard Kahn, later returned them. The contents of the hard drives and CDs remain undisclosed. to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

“We've been refurbishing and reusing hard drives since 1996,” says Ross Gentle of Ultratec. “When we found out we could work with the Turing Trust donating some hard drives, it was a complete and utter win-win as far as we were concerned.” Ultratec, a U.K. based specialist refurbisher and repairer of Hard Drives and SSDs, is in the business of doing the right thing: every hard drive that can be restored to active use, is another device that's not in a landfill. Recently, the ASCDI member company, made another good choice. They donated five hundred drives to the Turing Trust. The donation helped the Turing Trust in its work, while Ultratec took steps to make sure the drives were properly wiped of previous data, protecting customers. The entire process protects the earth from the issue of improper disposal of IT equipment, and drives themselves, as we learn in this podcast, are now helping people achieve new goals. In this podcast, Noah van der Linde of the Turing Trust offers a brief presentation of his organization's work in helping everyone share in the benefits of the digital revolution. We learn how donations, such as the one Ultratec made, can help people, and even entire communities, gain needed equipment for new uses, such as education. Ultratec is part of a long standing ASCDI tradition, dating back to the early days of commercial grade computing, of companies giving back to communities near them and around the world. The ASCDI- The ITAD Association is a non-profit. In a related statement, Joe Marion, ASCDI President, said that the Ultratec donation demonstrates, ESG- Environmental Social Governance, in motion. “Choosing Ultratec and other ASCDI Members is their safest route to ESG because ASCDI covers the E & S in ESG.” The Turing Trust “Founded by Alan Turing's family, The Turing Trust seeks to continue his legacy by using technology to empower disadvantaged communities. Alan is widely regarded as the father of modern computing, and he saw IT as a tool for solving immense challenges. He also had a passion for helping others: he funded one member of his foster family to work in Africa and sponsored a Jewish refugee's schooling during World War II. In honor of Alan Turing's altruistic spirit, we refurbish IT equipment, install a range of educational software and provide it to those who need it most. In the last 13 years we have enabled access to computers for over 169,000 students across Africa, Asia, and the UK. With your help and a great deal of hard work, we believe that one day every child will be able to enjoy the transformative power of technology that Alan envisioned.” - James Turing, Founder of the Turing Trust. Ultratec Founded in 1996, it is a specialist refurbisher and repairer of Hard Drives and SSDs. Globally, it supplies between 600K and 1M drives per year, with over 250,000 drives currently in stock.  Ultratest uses the industry-leading Genesis Solution to ensure that all devices are fully Data Sanitized, in accordance with Industry Standards: NIST 88-800, and are returned to Grade A peak performance. LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/ultratec/ Website: www.ultratec.co.uk Ultratest Solutions Created in 2018, Ultratest was built on the knowledge gained by Ultratec over 20+ years of buying/selling and refurbishing Hard Drives and SSDs. Ultratest has developed the industry-leading Genesis Solution, a blend of hardware and software that not only Erases Data but can also repair and refurbish devices to return them to a Grade A full-health status.  Ultratest has also designed the Nemesis, a revolutionary solution for the Data Erasure or Networking Equipment, such as Switches, Routers, Firewalls and Access-Points.  Products that are regularly overlooked when it comes to data sanitization.  The solution also ensured that the product licensing remains intact so that the asset value is retained. THEY'RE BACKKKKKKKKKKK. Jeff and Joey reunite after Mardi Gras and Disney separate them for nearly two weeks and opt to avoid any spoilers up top, so the good stuff is saved for their Three Stars of the Week. Let's talk Kraken, shall we?! This week's Kraken Reaction (4:52) has two going back to right after the All-Star break where the team hits the road on the east coast and disappointment ensues. Jeff and Joey discuss everything that went both right and wrong in their games against the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings, how the Boston boys come alive every time they return home, Grubauer's' successful return to net, why the OT losses need to stop, and how Jared McCann is in another category all to his own. Jeff also takes the opportunity to discuss the Red Wings (Detroit Red Wings podcast) and how the hell it is even possible to smuggle an octopus into a stadium. No Dumb Questions (36:15) features member of the Kraken Pod Fam Shannon chiming in from Instagram on if a player is allowed to use their skate to maneuver the puck once their stick has been broken which gives Joey a reason to deep dive into the NHL rule book. Three Stars of the Week covers everything from "Never Split the Difference" to Spotify now having audio books, Mr. and Mrs. Smith on Amazon Prime, an epic Disney recap, and tales from Mardi Gras featuring Jeff going full-on Joey mode the night before his parade and plenty of drunken shenanigans. With much thanks for a listener's suggestion, we invited Pete Isgrigg back to the B&H Photography Podcast for an incredibly informative conversation about memory cards, external hard drives, and other digital image storage solutions. Isgrigg, who previously joined us in 2019, is from the Channel Marketing team at Western Digital (WD), which is the parent company of SanDisk and G-Technology, all very well-recognized names in the digital storage field. Isgrigg brings a wealth of knowledge to the conversation, and we start with simple terminology and the basics of SD cards, but then we discuss the latest memory card formats, capacities and speeds, and card readers, as well as best practices with memory cards in your photography practice.   During the second half of the program, we focus on digital image storage and hard drives and we ask Isgrigg to explain SSD and HDD and the various interfaces and ports. We also get very practical advice on which devices are better for long-term storage and which for everyday use, and how best to keep your files secure and available. It's hard to imagine a more helpful conversation so thank you, Pete, and huge thanks to our listeners. Keep the suggestions coming!   Guest: Pete Isgrigg www.bhphotovideo.com/c/promotion/15…solutions.html www.bhphotovideo.com/c/promotion/16…es-at-b-h.html www.bhphotovideo.com/c/promotion/15…le-memory.html www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/podcasts
