Last Ounce of Courage (2012) follows a Bob, a war vetern (who is the mayor) who lost his son in the Iraq War. Bob doesn't want the real message of christmas to disappear, but sadly, his small town around him is starting to lose those Christian Values. Luckily, his grandson, Christian (not to be confused with Christian Values) returns from L.A and shares the same sentiment, will this family be able to save Christmas from the Cuckle Berry Finns of the world? And will Oscar and Carl be able to sit through this bible belt, fox news, extravaganza, to find out (other than the target audience) who would watch this?
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! This year has been a real turd sandwich, so we’re ending it by taking the biggest bite! Putting a big stinky bow on 2020 is our discussion of “Last Ounce Of Courage.” It’s a film for everyone staying home this holiday season, but really craves those long-winded and eggnog-soaked dissertations from your conservative family members. Our rollicking conversation with Know Your Enemy Film Correspondent Jesse Brenneman is now out from behind the paywall! Be prepared: we dive into Darrel Campbell's 2012 war-on-Christmas fever dream Last Ounce of Courage, a deranged film that nevertheless offers real insight into the conservative mind. (If you really love freedom, you can watch the film here, before you listen. But it is not at all necessary.) Jesse is a seasoned radio producer and dear friend—and funny. In this week's episode, comedian Micah Sherman joins us to break down a movie so jingoistic the American flags are made up of smaller American flags. Last Ounce of Courage is a retelling of The Grinch That Stole Christmas from the point of view of the mayor of Whoville, a Vietnam veteran whose obsession with Jesus stems from untreated PTSD.If you'd like to hear more from Micah, you can check him out HERE, or you can check out his comedy album here. And if you'd like to hear more from our maestro, Ryan Slotnick, you can check out Evil Giraffes on Mars.Special thanks for sound effects.
