Since achieving fame, Snoop has had a number of brushes with the law. In 1990, he was convicted of cocaine possession. Three years later, he pleaded guilty to gun possession. The Dukes of Hazzard was one of many TV shows to be adapted in the early and mid-2000s. Some were good, most were not. Dukes falls into the latter category. But it shouldn't have. Helmed by Broken Lizard's Jay Chandrasekhar and starring Johnny Knoxville, Sean Williams Scott, Burt Reynolds, and Jessica Simpson (amongst many other notable names), the ingredients were there. Yet despite its talented cast and director, it's a painfully unfunny update that mostly runs on fumes. The script, which ranges between mediocre and outright awful, has no real ideas of its own. This movie desperately wants to be Starsky & Hutch, which isn't all that shocking since they apparently sought Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson for the lead roles. Even worse, Dukes recycles jokes from movies that came out over a decade before it. There simply is not enough moonshine in Georgia to make you forget how much better the films it's trying to emulate are. On the plus side, the care chases are pretty damn sweet. In the end, though, like the Confederate Flag that adorns the General Lee, the concept was better left to the scrap heap of history. She started out her career with episodic TV and small film roles in the early 1970s and has worked along side such legends as John Astin, Mickey Rooney, and Milton Berle. She’s made appearances on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, Starsky & Hutch, The Love Boat, Beverly Hills, 90210, The Wayans Bros. and Profiler. And had roles in films such as The Witches of Eastwick, and The Fabulous Baker Boys. She’s probably most remembered as one of my favorite characters, Big Rosie Greenbaum on Laverne & Shirley. Glaser, raised in a Jewish family, is the youngest of three children. He was born Paul Manfred Glaser in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the son of Dorothy and Samuel Glaser, who was an architect. Glaser attended the Buckingham Browne & Nichols School until 1961 before transferring to the Cambridge School of Weston completing high school. Glaser attended Tulane University, where he was roommates with film director Bruce Paltrow, majoring in theatre and English with a minor in architecture and graduated in 1966. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity. He earned a master's degree in fine arts from Boston University in acting and directing in 1967.After appearing in several Broadway productions, Glaser appeared in his first feature film in 1971, playing Perchik in the film version of Fiddler on the Roof. After having appeared as an extra on NBC's The Doctors, he was cast in the contract role of Dr. Peter Chernak on the daytime series Love Is a Many Splendored Thing, and made guest appearances on shows such as The Waltons, Kojak, The Streets of San Francisco and The Rockford Files, but found fame playing Detective David Starsky opposite David Soul in the television show Starsky and Hutch, of which he directed several episodes. It ran for four seasons (1975–1979) on ABC.After the series, Glaser continued to act on television and in films, and directed the 1987 film The Running Man starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as well as the 1992 film The Cutting Edge. He also directed episodes of several well-known TV series, including Miami Vice, Robbery Homicide Division and Judging Amy. Glaser returned to the big screen in 2003 in Something's Gotta Give, as Diane Keaton's ex-husband, and with a brief cameo in the 2004 film version of Starsky & Hutch, where his old role was reprised by Ben Stiller. He also directed the children's film Kazaam starring Shaquille O'Neal. On November 30, 2007, Glaser starred as Captain Hook in a pantomime version of Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley, Greater London, England. He took the lead role in the 2008 pantomime season at Sunderland's Empire Theatre. He guest starred in an episode of CBS's The Mentalist on October 1, 2009 titled "The Scarlet Letter". The 2017 film "Baby Driver" takes place in a world of vivid colors and nonstop music, but all of the feebly-depicted characters are black and white and the chords the film attempts to hit end up sounding dissonant. Its director, Edgar Wright, seems to have lost his knack for comedy and instead resorts to a bunch of stale criminal lingo that sounds like he learned it by watching old episodes of "Starsky & Hutch." Ansel Elgort plays Baby, a car thief with superhuman tinnitus powers who, as a teenager, inadvertently stole a vehicle loaded with thousands of dollars in drugs that was owned by an Atlanta kingpin. As a result, he's forced to become an indentured servant getaway driver for several years in order to pay for the cost of the stolen merchandise. Lily James plays Debora, a singing waitress who works at a diner that Baby habitually frequents because his dead mother, a former singing waitress, used to work there. She instantly falls for Baby upon meeting him while he’s looking at the kids menu. Then, things continue to get real Oedipal real fast as she takes on a romantic role in his life as well as a quasi-maternal role. Kevin Spacey plays Doc, an underworld boss who carefully organizes major heists in the Atlanta area out of his secret warehouse lair that’s smack dab in the middle of downtown and is frequented by so many criminals that there is no way that it wouldn’t be exposed. He also makes a big point of claiming that he assembles a different crew for each and every job, but then we see him recycle the same people almost immediately. Jon Hamm and Eiza González play Buddy and Darling, a murderous and passionate pair who engage in high-stakes robbery to fuel their cocaine habits. It’s hard to determine what’s less believable, Jon Hamm as a hardened criminal or Eiza González casually firing two automatic weapons at the same time. Jamie Foxx plays Bats, a trigger-happy buffoon who kills almost everyone he meets and is incapable of completing a sentence without inserting some sort of failed pun or nonsensical remark. First, of course, there was his big break as Perchik in the 1971 film adaptation of Fiddler on the Roof, followed by his years as the star of ABC’s long-running action series, “Starsky & Hutch,” in which he played Detective Dave Starsky opposite David Soul’s Detectie Ken “Hutch” Hutchinson. The show was hugely popular in the 1970s when it aired new episodes and reruns propelled it for many years to come. Glaser’s second act was unplanned: His wife Elisabeth Glaser was tragically struck down by AIDS in 1994. Before dying, she bravely made her illness a campaign for greater public understandng and empathy for AIDS victims, putting a broader face on something many people preferred to see only as something that afflicted the gay community. Some elements of the fantasy story in Chrystallia may ring true for people who have followed the Glaser story over the years, particularly its story of a mother of two adolescents wasting away before their very eyes. Rage, a 2011 release from id Software which Matt worked on, won the most Game Critics Awards at this year’s E3, including “˜Best Console Game’.Just Cause, co-written with Storylab founder Neil Richards for Eidos, debuted as the #1 game for Xbox 360 in the UK and was named “Best Adventure Game” at the 2006 E3. His current projects include a major game for the revolutionary Nintendo 3DS. For two years the ZoogDisney weekend bloc re-shaped the Disney channel, bringing it squarely into the interactive and “˜tweens world. He has written a kids book series for Scholastic , The Kids of Einstein Elementary which blends adventure and math and he also scripted episodes of the award-winning PBS animated series, Cyberchase. Other games include the landmark Aladdin’s Mathquest with math expert Marilyn Burns for Disney, as well as the multi-award winning A Cartoon History of the Universe (Putnam). His novel Beneath Still Waters was filmed and released by LionsGate and Penguin/Putnam published his latest suspense novel, Nowhere. His new novel,Vacation, will be published by St. Martin’s Press in 2011.
