SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY TRAILER BREAKDOWN & ANALYSIS!!! We're going LIVE to break down the official trailer for Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Brand New Day—the next chapter in the MCU's Spider-Man saga and one of the most anticipated superhero films of 2026. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), the film marks Tom Holland's return as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, following the emotional fallout of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where the world forgot his identity. Set several years after those events, Brand New Day follows Peter as he continues protecting New York City completely on his own while uncovering a larger criminal mystery that could reshape his future as Spider-Man. The film brings back familiar faces including Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned, while introducing major new players like Jon Bernthal's Punisher, Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner / Hulk, and Michael Mando's Scorpion, alongside new cast additions such as Sadie Sink. The trailer teases a more grounded, street-level story mixed with high-stakes Marvel action—featuring new villains, intense set pieces, and a deeper look at Peter navigating life completely alone. With hints of emotional reunions, evolving powers, and unexpected alliances, Spider-Man: Brand New Day looks to kick off a bold new era for the character as part of the MCU's Phase 6, ahead of the next wave of Avengers films. Join us as we react to every moment of the trailer, break down the biggest reveals, speculate on the story, and discuss what this means for the future of Spider-Man in the MCU! Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesIt's a big week for Marvel news! First up, Jon Bernthal has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, as his take on The Punisher makes the transition from Marvel Television to the big screen. He joins newcomer Sadie Sink, alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon who were also confirmed to be returning as MJ and Ned, respectively. Elsewhere, on Wednesday Disney announced that Marvel Studios is scheduled to release an untitled film slated for December 15, 2028, which if holds true, would be the studio's fourth theatrical offering for that year. In Variety's article on said possible fourth 2028 Marvel Studios film, the writer suggested that Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier has gone from being in talks, to officially tapped as the director for the upcoming X-Men film. Fresh details on the recently cast Clayface film from DC Studios co-head James Gunn said the film would be R-rated during his appearance on the DC Studios Showcase Official Podcast. "It's just a great horror movie that is a great, smart, fun horror movie which is in a genre that I happen to love, which is body horror," he said; continuing with, "It's rated R… It's not anything now because the MPA has to watch it, but it's most likely rated R. It's pretty intense." In other DCU news, box office tracking for Superman via the National Research Group (NRG) has the film projected to open between $125 and $145 million domestically, with more conservative estimates ranging between $90 and $125 million. The fledgling DCU certainly seems to be living up to its Gods and Monsters thematic moniker. It was a story of highs and lows at the box office this weekend, with the newcomers 28 Years Later and Pixar's Elio unable to dethrone Dreamworks' live action How To Train Your Dragon remake, which passed $358 million at the global box office in just two weeks. Although both new films bowed to the reigning champ, the narrative is far more devastating for Pixar and Elio; despite positive critical reviews, the celebrated animation studio's latest feature struggled to muster even a meager $35 million globally; a record low and troubling sign concerning the performance, or lack thereof, for original films at Pixar. Danny Boyles' legacy horror sequel 28 Years Later fared far better, debuting to $30 million both domestically and internationally, for a $60 million total haulMarvel Comics has announced Spider-Man '94, a four issue limited comic run that will close the cliffhanger left by Spider-Man The Animated Series from its final episode in 1998. The series is written by long-time Spidey veteran and a writer on the original animated series, J.M. DeMatteis, with art by Jim Towe. Russell Crowe is boarding at Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists' Highlander in the Ramirez mentor role made famous by Sean Connery in the original 1986 movie. He joins Henry Cavill who is playing the lead role. AMC has released a teaser trailer for season 3 of Walking Dead spin off Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon and announced that the series will premiere on September 7. James Bobin, director of The Muppets, is in talks to helm Netflix's Dragon's Lair, based on the classic 1980s arcade game, per The Hollywood Reporter. Ryan Reynolds, originally set to star, but no longer, is producing alongside Roy Lee, Trevor Engelson, and game creators Don Bluth, Gary Goldman, and Jon Pomeroy.Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new trailer for ‘Weapons' written and directed by Zach Cregger which offers more eerie footage from the film. It's a big week for fans of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding franchise; Death Stranding 2: On the Beach releases this week on June 26, for the Playstation 5 exclusively. Kojima Productions also announced an animated feature film being written by Raised by Wolves‘ Aaron Guzikowski; this is in addition to the previously announced live action Death Stranding film adaptation in development.

Jack Quaid delivers standout performances in both Novocaine and Companion, showcasing his range as an actor and his ability to play very different characters with conviction and nuance.• Novocaine follows a man with congenital insensitivity to pain who must use his condition to rescue a woman he cares about after a bank robbery• The film brilliantly portrays how dangerous not feeling pain can be – from setting timers for bathroom breaks to avoiding solid foods• Both movies feature excellent soundtracks that enhance the viewing experience, with Companion's music particularly standing out• Jack Quaid plays completely opposite characters – a cautious introvert in Novocaine and a manipulative villain in Companion• Despite modest box office performance, Novocaine offers a fresh, original concept in the action genre with clever fight sequences• Companion delivers shocking twists about artificial intelligence and human-robot relationships that keep viewers guessing• Both films maintain excellent pacing, with neither wasting screen time on unnecessary plot points• Jacob Batalon steals his scenes in Novocaine, bringing welcome comic relief as RoscoeCheck out our upcoming episodes covering The Sinners and Snow White, and follow us on Instagram and TikTok for behind-the-scenes content and updates.
I'll admit it. All us guys, at one point or another, have fantasized about being some one-man action hero that kicks a bunch of bad guy butt to rescue a beautiful woman. It's a great fantasy until reality kicks in and you start thinking “I don't wanna do that! I could experience pain!!!” The main character in this week's movie, “Novocaine”, doesn't have to worry about the pain part AND he reluctantly has to be a one-man action hero. “Novocaine” stars Jack Quaid as Nate Caine, a young bank assistant manager who has a condition that prevents him from feeling any pain. He lives a solitary, boring, uneventful life as a soft-spoken, gentle guy until one day a beautiful co-worker named Sherry, played by Amber Midthunder, asks him to lunch. This takes the movie into cutesy-pie rom-com territory where Nate and Sherry just click as a couple and all of a sudden Nate is walking on sunshine. That is until the bank robbery. Nate's bank is hit by some no-good bad guy bank robbers and wouldn't you know it, they take Sherry as a hostage to get away from the cops. Well Nate isn't going to let some baddies just take his new lady love away from him without him doing something about it. Gone is the fantasy and enter reality. Nate is on a mission to rescue HIS beautiful woman and he's got the advantage of feeling no pain. This of course makes for so many great scene possibilities and writer Lars Jacobson digs in and takes full advantage. Does Nate succeed and save his damsel in distress? Of course he does! However, is it worth going to the theater to see it? Check out this episode to find out! “Novocaine” also stars Ray Nicholson, Jacob Batalon, Betty Gabriel, Matt Walsh, Conrad Kemp, Evan Hengst, Craig Jackson, Lou Beatty Jr., Garth Collins and Tristan de Beer.Support the showFeel free to reach out to me via:@MoviesMerica on Twitter @moviesmerica on InstagramMovies Merica on Facebook

WHAT A GREAT TIME!! Coy Jandreau sits down with the cast of Novocaine for an exciting deep dive into the action-packed, romantic thrill ride that has audiences buzzing. In the first half, Jack Quaid (The Boys, Oppenheimer, Companion, Scream 5) and Amber Midthunder (Prey, Roswell, New Mexico) discuss their on-screen chemistry, influences from classic films like True Romance and Before Sunrise, and how their characters' playlists shaped their performances. Jack reveals his dream of seeing Nathan Kane cosplays, while Amber playfully confirms the fan-coined "Sherry Cherry" as canon. Then, Coy chats with Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: No Way Home, Reginald the Vampire) and Ray Nicholson (Smile 2, Licorice Pizza) about the film's action sequences, the challenge of balancing romance and adrenaline, and how shooting in Cape Town brought the story to life. With discussions on theatrical vs. streaming releases, cinematic influences, and unforgettable on-set moments, this interview is packed with fun reveals and great insights into the making of Novocaine! Garfield Wilson's filmography is packed with some of our local industry's best-loved and most critically acclaimed productions, including Continuum, Schmigadoon, The Man in the High Castle, Virgin River, Ivy and Bean, and Snowpiercer. His roles are often ones that require power, presence, poise, and physical acumen, and he's using all of those qualities (and more!) as Balestro on Reginald the Vampire, which kicked off its second season on May 8. SyFy's cult favourite dark comedy follows the adventures of a slushy store employee turned vampire and his human and formerly human friends. Reginald is portrayed by Jacob Batalon, who played Peter Parker's best friend Ned in five MCU films and who is now leading one of the most diverse and wildly funny shows on TV. Garfield's Balestro is the Big Bad of the new season. He's a powerful and intimidating angel who descends from heaven to announce the eventual extinction of vampires – which, obviously, is not welcomed by Reginald the vampire, his vampire friends, and the humans who love them. In addition to his family and his work in the industry, Garfield is passionate about his activism on behalf of Trans kids. Garfield's daughter Tru has been a Trans activist since the age of nine, giving TED Talks and advocating for the civil rights of Transgender and genderqueer people, and her proud dad has been by her side every step of the way. In this fascinating and wide-ranging conversation, Garfield talks avenging angels, slushy-loving vampires, and raising Trans kids in intolerant times. Episode sponsor: UBCP / ACTRA
