I had the pleasure of having my dear friend, Liz Stone, as a guest on my newest podcast episode. She has her own unique story of experiencing and then dealing with unresolved trauma for years, so I was excited to bring her on and dive more into this topic today. Liz Stone is a trauma survivor and now a trauma healing mentor and sound healing practitioner. She is the owner and founder of the Balanced Stone, a beautiful healing center in Utah that offers hope and healing through trauma informed resources, classes, and practitioners.    In today's episode, we're talking about: -What trauma actually is, and how it impacts everything as it becomes ‘locked' in your tissues -Liz's personal story of experiencing what's known as ‘trauma stacking' as a teenager, which eventually led to agoraphobia and PTSD in her adult life -How the healing process starts (and what may or may not work for you when you're trying to heal) -Why your body (specifically your heart) is actually the safest place for you to be -Various methods and tools you can use to reconnect with your body -Recognizing that the authority in your healing is you (your higher self)   My conversation with Liz was truly special; she is so full of joy, love, and wisdom, and she has a sincere desire to help others navigate their trauma. We talked about how so many of us are ‘doers', and we use being busy as an avoidance tool. We think we're going to ‘do' our way to our health and clean up our trauma, but that's just not how it works. Trauma creates resistance for you to be able to experience the joy, happiness, peace, clarity and calm that are on the other side. It's time for you to take that first step (wherever you decide to start), because you are worth it, and you deserve to live the life you want!   Connect with Liz on Instagram and Facebook Learn more about Liz and how you can connect with her to start your own healing journey: https://thebalancedstone.com/ Learn more about the #time2heal Introductory Program: https://wendy-bunnell.mykajabi.com/time2healprogram Download your FREE copy of the 5 ways to discover your inner voice and begin your inner shift with me: https://wendybunnell.com/ I would love to continue this conversation-connect with me over on Instagram! What can law students do in school to start building networking skills, or hone the traits they already have? Being successful at networking as an introvert What if you're thinking of having a solo practice, but hate the idea of business development? Liz Stone is, among many other things, the Academic Chair, Indigenous Studies at Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. In just a moment I'll ask her to introduce herself so that you can hear in her own voice and in her first language who she is. Today our conversation touches on Edward Hall's cultural iceberg as it relates to teaching and learning. Additionally, we will discuss emotion and experience and discuss how and why we should value things such as holistic learning in which we engage the physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional parts of our brain. We will talk about the importance of intersectionality, stories, relationships, and the environment to our constant state of learning and also about credentials and what they might mean and what we value and why it matters. Thank you for listening to this conversation on Universal Design for Learning and culture, specifically what we can learn from each other and from indigenous values and culture.
