Welcome to the #ShareYourHotness Podcast episode 158! Richard Davidson (Alkalarian) 1st * Keynote Speaker, Author, Heart Attack Prevention Advisor, Retired U.S. Navy Diver, CLO (Chief Longevity Officer), I Walk My Talk Richard Davidson was born in 1941 and raised in Salt Lake City, UT. His life journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, marked by a remarkable career in the U.S. Navy and a passion for promoting his own health and wellness through the concept of “Alkalinity”. In 1959, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and demonstrated exceptional dedication and skill, achieving the prestigious rank of Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO) and Chief Warrant Officer within 10 years. He acquired diving expertise in Para-SCUBA, Mixed Gas, and Hard Hat Diving, as well as qualifying as a Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician. After a distinguished service of 20 years, he retired from the Navy in 1982 as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO4). Richard's entrepreneurial spirit led him to own a Sir Speedy Printing Center and as a Book Publisher from 1991 to 1996. During this period, he collaborated with over 700 authors, contributing significantly to the literary landscape. In 1999, Richard became an Associate at the Salt Lake City "Water and Wellness Center," where his journey towards advocating alkaline water and wellness began. Inspired by influential works such as "Alkalize or Die" (1992) by Dr. Theodore A. Baroody and "The pH Miracle" (2002) by Dr. Robert O. Young. Basically, Richard started the "Alkalinity Movement" in 2002. His dedication to promoting alkaline mineral water led to its introduction at the Water and Wellness Center in 2004. In 2007, Richard embarked on a 4-year sabbatical in Missouri, where he immersed himself in learning Dr. Mayr's 100-year-old natural wellness program. His commitment to health took a personal turn in 2009 when he experienced a "Massive Heart Attack." Recognizing the symptoms, he acted swiftly, and due to his active Alkalarian lifestyle, he underwent a successful recovery without any side effects. Richard's passion for educating others about the “alkaline” concept saw him conducting live classes from 2011 to 2015, and virtual classes from 2018 to present, spreading up-to-date awareness about the potential benefits of maintaining a balanced body pH level. Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, Richard explored works like “The Acid Alkaline Food Guide” by Dr Susan E. Brown (2004), "The Alkaline Cure" by Dr. Stephen Domenig (2014) and "Get Off Your Acid" by Dr. Daryl Gioffre (2018), further solidifying his expertise in the field. Richard's passion for wellness and advocacy for the Alkalarian lifestyle led him to establish the "Alkaline Club of America," aiming to certify one million "Alkalarian" individuals. He is currently dedicated to the "Heart Attack Prevention" business, resolute in his mission to save lives and prevent heart-related health issues. With his first book set to be released in 2025, Richard's influence is poised to grow even further. His journey will culminate in a possible TEDx talk and a promising professional speaking career. Richard is associated with influential figures like Jack Canfield, author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul," and actively participates in the National Speakers Association (NSA) Mountain West Chapter, alongside esteemed individuals and worldwide speakers, like Dan Clark and Kathy Loveless. For those seeking to embrace a healthier lifestyle through alkalinity, Richard Davidson is a trustworthy guide. Welcome to the #ShareYourHotness Podcast episode 154! On January 1, 2021, at 10:45 pm the doorbell rang. A police officer stood at the door and though she didn't truly hear the words -- she could see the policeman's lips uttering, "I am sorry, Scott has passed away." As the mother of three children, and hearing this for the third in her life, she fell to the floor, screaming in pain. She asked over and over - Why, knowing she would never know the answer. As the days moved forward, she moved with them, if only as a shadow but she still moved. She had to. Because that is how one survives losing a daughter who only lived 8 days (1978), and a son who died at age 19 (1999) in a vehicle accident. Now, her only child had died of a drug overdose at 37. She fought the addiction battle alongside her younger son for over five and a half years. Yes, she grieved and still does for each of her children. Each loss has taught her life will always have meaning and purpose as long as she keeps going. Currently, she is in the process of writing a book and beginning to speak about resilience in grief, the pain of family addiction, and how 'recovery" lives in both of these worlds. Living in beautiful Detroit Lakes, MN, with her husband John, and their cats, Kipper, and Wilson, she and John enjoy retirement and spend a good deal of time traveling to experience other parts of the country and the world. Welcome to the #ShareYourHotness Podcast episode 149! My name is Katie Bunnell, and I know firsthand the challenges faced by single mothers pursuing education. In 2005, my life changed abruptly when my husband, Byron, passed away. Suddenly, I was left to care for our three-month-old daughter on my own. With everything turned upside down, the dream of providing for my family became even more urgent. Attending college became a vital goal, but it also highlighted the immense difficulty of supporting a family while pursuing higher education as a single mother. Finding scholarships and resources was a struggle, but my determination drove me forward. I managed to graduate from Utah Valley University in just two and a half years. Inspired by my journey, my family and I established Live Your Dream, a 501(c)(3) public charity. It brings me healing and purpose to turn my own hardships into a source of support for others. I am deeply grateful for my family, board members, donors, and sponsors who contribute their time and resources to help single mothers achieve their educational goals. Our target population is single mothers who are residents of Utah who desire to gain a higher education. These women may attend college, university, bootcamp, or technical school. We believe that by providing scholarships, we are breaking the poverty cycle for single-mother families in our community. According to census bureau reports, approximately 30% of Utah single mothers live below the poverty level. The Utah Department of Workforce Services reports that "Obtaining a quality education increases employment opportunities, increases lifetime earnings, and supports economic stability for parents and their children.” While raising money for our endowment fund, we are awarding scholarships to deserving women during both the fall and winter/spring semesters. We offer tuition ($2,000- $3,000), fees ($1,000), and book ($500) scholarships. Scholarship recipients may receive the scholarship for multiple semesters. We have an online scholarship application located on our website www.liveyourdreamfoundation.org/apply. The scholarship application deadline for Winter/Spring 2025 semester is November 1, 2024. The scholarship application deadline for spring 2025 semester is November 1, 2024. Since its inception in 2010, Live Your Dream has awarded 317 scholarships totaling $508,539.64. Our scholarship recipients become members of our Live Your Dream Family, benefiting from our foundation's commitment to support them in their educational and life pursuits. We partner with local nonprofits to offer year-round family activities. Generous contributions from our amazing donors enable us to undertake diverse service projects, offering valuable opportunities for both the single moms and their children to participate and benefit. We ensure the provision of essential back-to-school supplies for children from single-mother families and extend holiday support through various means, such as Thanksgiving meals, Christmas gift baskets, Sub for Santa, Mother's Day gift bags, and more. Additionally, we offer care boxes to uplift single moms. Each current recipient receives dedicated peer mentoring, fostering personalized support throughout their academic journey. In our commitment to supporting single mothers, we also facilitate connections with local resources whenever they need additional assistance. We measure our impact through various metrics including the number of scholarships awarded (150% increase from 2021 to 2022), the impact of the scholarships on recipients' educational attainment and financial stability, and feedback from recipients regarding the effectiveness of the support provided. Our scholarships have not only increased the chances of higher education for over 650 children but have also bolstered the confidence of the mothers, showcasing the lasting impact of our support. Because of the scholarships we have awarded, over 650 children have a higher probability of gaining a higher education due to their mothers gaining an education, as supported by the research in Honoring Our Mothers by Seeking Higher Education, Madsen, 2022. Welcome to the #ShareYourHotness Podcast episode 146! Motherhood is one of Michelle's favorite things, chocolate might be a close second! But having this opportunity to care and give to Brianne during her recovery has deepened that meaning and has been one of the most rewarding roles of her life! Michelle has a passion for people and places; throughout her life, she has collected both. She has had the opportunity to travel the world, and very few who meet her come away without being friends. Whenever we can't find Michelle in our travels, we know she is making friends with someone new. Watch out… we have been invited over for dinner in England and a Chateau stay in France. Michelle has co-written several travel books with her husband, hosted tours all over the world, speaks at events throughout the US (mostly on how “Travel can Change your Education”), is a partner of Simplified Homeschooling, and is involved with a few health opportunities. She is brilliant, compassionate and should have a degree in brain recovery at this point since trying so many natural ideas during Brianne's recovery. She is a mother of 4, grandmother of 5 and family is her favorite of ‘ALL'. So... who is Brianne that we keep on mentioning? Brianne came to this earth with a light and energy bursting from every pore. She loved people, she loved life and as she grew, she loved learning. This thirst for knowledge led her to many opportunities including starting college at 16 and exploring the world, her favorite place being France. Her exploration of everything French led her to teach French immersion at the elementary level. Her exploration of the world led her to go even further where she taught for two years in China at an International school after receiving her Master's Degree. Brianne's love expanded to overflowing after the birth of her cute little boy (which we are so glad she shares with her parents). He is everything to her. It was shortly after his 2nd birthday that her life changed, and she has now spent over 6 years in a miracle-filled recovery and continuing to inspire everyone she meets. For someone who has nearly lost everything, she is the most positive, loving, and giving person you will ever meet. She loves everyone deeply, forgives easily, and is a shining light to all those who meet her. You may also check out https://www.tbifightclub.org/. Welcome to the #ShareYourHotness Podcast episode 133! Hi guys my name is Melanie Rangel I have been married for 20 years this year. My husband and I have 5 wonderful healthy children (1 boy (19) 4 girls (15, 11, 4, & 5 months) and we also had another baby girl who is our angel who would've been (17 years old). On top of being a full time mother and wife I am also a full time student up at the U of U, earning my bachelors degree in social work. My passion in life is to one day help grieving mothers in the maternity ward who just received devastating news that their baby most likely will be stillborn or won't survive. I want to be a mothers support system during her toughest moments in life. My passion is to prepare these mothers on what to expect and to also encourage them to spend as much time with their baby as they can handle. As a young mother, I had endured my lost at the young age of 18. During our hospital stay, my husband and I were so numb we didn't know what we should do such as taking photos of our baby girl, bathe her, to even be able to have that choice to bring her back to hospital room until I felt ready to let her go. We had no guidance whatsoever, yes we were surrounded by family but then again we still felt so alone. I am also very passionate to advocate on mental illness and to help young adolescents on their journey through their toughest years. I had watched my oldest suffer through his personal struggles with severe PTSD from being attacked by two pit bulls at the age of 6 years old. During his early to late teens I had watched him suffer from suicide ideation tremendously. It was so hard to watch from the sidelines. Aside from that I personally know what it felt like to not have a single friend and practically felt unworthy and unloved from my parents. I felt so alone since I was a little girl but still somehow gained resilience growing up. As a young mother at 16 years old I was very lucky enough to have found my husband at the young age of 15 but due to my upbringing and unhealed trauma I suffered a lot with mental illness for the past 17 years. I am now learning how to heal from my past trauma.

Episode Notes I am Virginia Heiner, I was born and raised in Utah. I was adopted at birth. I met my now husband in High School but it is important to note that we were not high school sweethearts. We hung out in the same crowd and went on 1 date in which I asked him and his mom responded for him. It's a funny story but essentially he was a stalker and very persistent, clearly he won as we have been married for 18 years and counting and have 4 amazing kids. We currently reside in Holladay, UT in the home my Mother-in-Law grew up in. Among being a Mom, Wife and all the other titles we gather as we grow through life. I work as an English/American Sign Language Interpreter in our community serving the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Hearing community. Bridging language and cultural barriers. I enjoy cooking, but not cleaning up afterwards to remedy that I came up with a great system. Rule my home is if you cooked dinner you don't have to clean up afterwards. Win for me! I enjoy naps, spending time with my family and friends. I am an extrovert through and through. If you meet me, I consider you a friend and you are stuck with me. I strongly believe that we are ultimately responsible for ourselves, owning my errors and even our own trauma and healing, I strongly believe in helping others whenever possible. And that we should always show kindness and love to others. Showing up daily with compassion and empathy towards our fellow humans that are growing in this life is the ultimate task and isn't always easy to do.
