Craig and Scott are trying to discover free music that's actually GOOD. They usually fail. In this episode we have our now regular feature: Guess That Reversed Song! Also: all the songs accidentally end up being really good and we get really angry. Then the last two tracks come on and do something strange... The RulesPick 8 tracks total (4 tracks each) The music has be royalty free (Creative Commons licensed for us to play or public domain) Pick them as blind as possible (don't listen to them fully) If you're struggling, pick the ones with the most interesting name When the track is playing we dip at 1 minute and ask: "is it good enough to continue?" The song can be stopped immediately if it is "obviously s**t" Score the song out of 11 The 8 Songs In This Episodehttps://freemusicarchive.org/music/Snail_Bob/Unshellfish/SnailBob-CountDickula_1217 (Count Dickula by Snail Bob) https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Strobotone/C3SIX__The_C3S_Ignition_Mix/Strobotone_-_San_Fran_Interlude_Edit_1091 (San Fran Interlude by Strobotone) • Also on https://soundcloud.com/strobotone (Soundcloud) https://freemusicarchive.org/genre/House (The Trippers by Sro) https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Zombie_Dandies/Dandys_Little_Monsters/The_Zombie_Dandies_-_Dandys_Little_Monsters_-_02_Halloween_Again (Halloween Again by The Zombie Dandies) https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Forget_the_Whale/What_I_Tell_Myself_Vol_2/Forget_the_Whale_-_Another_Trick_Up_My_Sleeve (Another Trick Up My Sleeve by Forget the Whale) https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Bisou/Musical_spaceshift/Bisou_-_Musical_Spaceship_-_09_Panda (Panda by Bisou) https://freemusicarchive.org/music/Metalogue/Paroxysm_1926/Metalogue_-_Paroxysm_-_03_Technical_Debt (Technical Debt by Metalogue) https://freemusicarchive.org/music/J_Syreus_Bach/Strange_Jazz_Abstract_Jazz/Goodbye_Grandmother (Goodbye, Grandmother by J. In Episode Four Saul and Jolene discuss putting on a big game, or large event at a gaming convention. We talk about our experience running a large event. We with the help of many friends we put on Aliens: Live Action Boardgame at KublaCon in Northern California. We discuss the elation and amount of work needed to put on a large event at a convention. A special thanks to Jeff Wilcox the Special Events Co-ordinator at KublaCon. Sorry I totally forgot his name during recording. Without him giving my crazy idea a chance without really knowing me, allowed me and my friends to create a great experince running our Aliens: Live Action Boardgame at Kublacon. Thank you very much Jeff!! Another thanks go to Rennie Saunders, Jeff's assistant who worked many times side by side getting our game ready to the show. Could not have done the game without them both! And thanks to the people that helped put this event on. From Felipe who mentioned the original game he saw and said we should do it. To the C0-Gms that helped us put on the game, from the Alien and Marine Handlers to the "Bucket Monkey" to the "Wheel of Death" holder that made our game as good as it could be. Cipriano Morales, Cathy May, Blaine Story, Don Blake, Jolene Morales and Ken. And to all the people that stuck around after the games were over and helped this weary group peel hundred of feet of masking tape off the floor, and take down the barriers we used in the game. Thanks for a great experience! Music by Metalogue playing Fatal Extremes Available at FreeMusicArchive.com
Episode number two with Michael Manley from Public Good Software. We discuss Public Good's approach to making news actionable using machine learning to identify articles which are connected to the focus areas of charities. Public Good has been able to help a number of charities raise a ton of cash and even find kidneys for people in need of a donation. Summary of Michael's interview is here: https://gist.github.com/michaelsmanley/c1376b3ca40b430506f2393b8286bbb2 The book I was trying to remember is "Geek Heresy: Rescuing Social Change from the Cult of Technology" by Kentaro Toyama.
