Charlotte Mikkelborg is the series director of the Adventure series on Apple TV, which is shot on Apple Immersive Video and co-produced by Atlantic Studios (formerly Atlantic Productions) and Apple. I think it has the strongest storytelling released by Apple so far, and it also has some of the most innovative and cutting edge shots that really show the power of the 180-degree format of Apple Immersive Video. In this conversation, we cover Mikkelborg's 10-year journey into working with immersive formats starting with 360-degree video, multi-sensory VR, and most recently 180-degree video. We also talk about the emerging grammar of 180-degree filmmaking, and the introduction of close ups, which I feel like work sometimes and other times feels almost too close or can feel a bit uncanny or jarring when changing scales or results in warping or other distortions. We also talk about some of the behind-the-scenes insights about the Adventure series. One concerning thing that I noticed after watching all of the Apple Immersive Videos released so far is that many of these videos do not contain any credits for who worked on these projects. I did an audit of all 22 of the published Apple Immersive Videos, and I found that 14 of the 22 don't have any credits at all,. Most of these are by Apple Sentity LLC productions, which is presumably Apple's in-house production team. I found that 5 out of the 22 have partial credits, including the four episodes of the Adventure series as well as Man vs. Beast, which features DGA director Ryan Booth. And there are 3 out of the 22 Apple Immersive Videos that have full and complete credits including Submerged that features DGA director Edward Berger, and the Prehistoric Planet Immersive series, which is a co-production with Fairview Portals. See the table below for more information: It is deeply concerning to me that only 3 out of the 22 Apple Immersive Videos seemingly have full and complete credits. Apple did not provide any comment about why this is or why some of these pieces have no credits, why some have partial credits, and why some have full credits. It is nice to see at least some credits on the Adventure series, which is a co-production between Apple and Atlantic Studios (formerly Atlantic Productions), but they're only listing the director, executive producer, and key talent while all of the other key creative talent are not being credited. Atlantic Productions did not provide any official comment about why there are only partial credits, while a few other productions have full credits and many other productions have no credits. You can see find a partial a list of some of the Adventure series creative talent on IMDB, and episode 3 protagonist Ant Williams posted a partial list of credits on his Instagram announcement post. I was able to get some additional context from Mikkelborg about the credits situation, and it does sounds like the co-productions likely have a bit more leeway in dictating what types of credits are shown. While the Prehistoric Planet Immersive series co-produced by Fairview Portals series has full and complete credits, and the Adventure series by Atlantic Studios only has partial credits. The two Apple Sentity LLC productions that do have credits also happen to be directed by directors who are a part of the Director's Guild of America (DGA). The DGA has specific credits requirements, "For feature films, the Director's screen credit must be accorded on a separate card, which shall be the last title card appearing prior to principal photography. This credit shall be no less than 50% of the size of the displayed title of the motion picture, or of the largest size in which credit is accorded to any other person, whichever is greater." The rules may be different for immersive productions or emerging media projects, but the director credits for Submerged and Man vs Beast seem to both meet DGA's credits requirements for film.
Are we looking the wrong direction when it comes to UFO phenomena? Maybe we should be looking down — into our oceans. In this in-depth interview, legendary UFO researcher Richard Dolan dives deep (literally) into the mysteries of Unidentified Submerged Objects (USOs). Drawing from his extensive new book series: A History of USOs, Richard shares mind-blowing cases of underwater UFO encounters — from chilling US Navy confrontations to strange sounds in Soviet submarines, and even mysterious sightings over the Great Lakes. What you'll learn in this episode: Are USOs the same phenomenon as UFOs? The hidden naval encounters you've never heard about Are global military powers tracking USOs in secret? The astonishing frequency of transmedium objects Historical cases from as far back as Christopher Columbus! Are there secret underwater alien bases? Lake Erie and Great Lakes USO encounters Soviet Navy incidents USOs and potential links to nuclear submarines Why military secrecy around USOs is even stronger than UFO secrecy The global hot spots: Puerto Rico, Catalina Island, Mediterranean Sea, South China Sea, and more! Richard Dolan also answers: Are we being watched beneath the waves? Are underwater craft studying our military technology? And could they be operating from hidden oceanic bases? A History of USOs: Unidentified Submerged Objects (Volume 1: From the Beginning to 1969) by Richard M. Dolan is the first installment in a groundbreaking three-volume series that explores the fascinating and often unexplained phenomenon of USOs—Unidentified Submerged Objects. This meticulously researched book delves into the earliest reported sightings of mysterious objects observed in oceans, lakes, and rivers, spanning centuries and covering 178 carefully documented cases up to 1969.Dolan's work is both a historical and scientific inquiry, examining accounts that have often been overlooked or forgotten. With a keen eye for detail, he places these encounters within a broader historical and technological context, raising questions about the nature of these enigmatic objects. Are they advanced technology from unknown civilizations, natural phenomena, or something else entirely? This volume sets the stage for understanding the long history of USO encounters, laying the foundation for the rest of the series. The book is enriched with maps by the author and illustrations by Allan Lavigne, providing a visual dimension to the narratives. Dolan's research draws from a wide range of sources, including military reports, eyewitness accounts, and historical records, all analyzed through a detailed system that evaluates factors such as time, location, shape, color, and witness credibility. This methodical approach allows readers to identify patterns and themes that emerge across decades and continents.Volume 1 is not just a collection of stories; it is a thought-provoking exploration of the unknown, challenging readers to reconsider their understanding of the oceans and the universe. Whether you are a skeptic, a believer, or simply curious, this book offers a compelling journey into the uncharted depths of our planet—and beyond.BioRichard Dolan is a leading researcher, historian, and writer on the subject of UFOs.He is the author of two volumes of history, UFOs and the National Security State, both ground-breaking works which together provide the most factually complete and accessible narrative of the UFO subject available anywhere. He also co-authored a speculative book about the future, A.D. After Disclosure, the first-ever analysis not only of how UFO secrecy might end, but of the all-important question: what happens next? Richard is also the author of UFOs for the 21st Century Mind, a fresh treatment of the entire subject. In it, he discusses the important sightings, the encounters, the politics, the cover-up, ancient aliens, the bizarre science, disclosure, and offers advice on being both critical and open-minded in today's world. More recently, Richard has written a series of booklets developed from select lectures on such topics as the idea of a secret space program and UFO secrecy and disclosure in the Trump era.In addition to his UFO work, Richard wrote and hosted a series on the phenomenon of false flags for Gaia Television. This ten-episode series is groundbreaking as the first historical perspective of false flags through the ages, events in which governments or other agencies committed horrible and traumatic acts which were then blamed on other parties in order to justify and pursue certain objectives. Richard is currently researching and writing the first-ever history of false flags, with a strong focus on the 20th and 21t centuries.Since 2012, Richard has hosted a weekly radio show, The Richard Dolan Show, on KGRA radio, and currently offers audio podcasts for members of richarddolanmembers.com. He has been featured on numerous television series and documentaries, including Ancient Aliens, Hangar One: The UFO Files, Close Encounters, and many others. He is also a frequent guest on Coast-to-Coast AM with George Noory.Prior to his interest in UFOs, Richard completed his graduate work at the University of Rochester, where he studied U.S. Cold War strategy, European history, and international diplomacy. Before that, he studied at Alfred University and Oxford University, was a finalist for a Rhodes scholarship. But for the past two decades, Richard has been a dedicated student of all things related to UFOs, steadily expanding his interests within that topic from his initial focus on government documents and the cover-up. Now his interests include it all, from the deepest aspects of the coverup, to contact and abduction, the science behind the phenomenon, how the phenomenon has affected world culture, his theory of a breakaway civilization, the possible relationship of artificial intelligence and biotechnology to the UFO phenomenon, and the implications of the end of secrecy, that is, the world After Disclosure.Today, there is no aspect of the phenomenon Richard won't study. He continues to look forward to exploring this topic in all its depth, a topic he believes opens our doors of perception, challenging us to see the world differently and more clearly. In addition to his research, Richard's company, Richard Dolan Press, actively publishes innovative books by authors from around the world, which can be visited at richarddolanpress.com.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DWYHCSHW/https://richarddolanmembers.comRichard Dolan online: https://bit.ly/DolanLinks https://www.pastliveshypnosis.co.uk/https://www.patreon.com/alienufopodcast

Submission guidelines can be found at http://www.TallTaleTV.com ---- About Tall Tale TV ---- Hi there! My name is Chris Herron and I'm an audiobook narrator. In 2015, I suffered from poor Type 1 diabetes control which lead me to become legally blind for almost a year. The doctors didn't give me much hope, predicting an 80% chance that I would never see again. But I refused to give up and changed my lifestyle drastically. Through sheer willpower (and an amazing eye surgeon) I beat the odds and regained my vision. During that difficult time, I couldn't read or write, which was devastating as they had always been a source of comfort for me since childhood. However, my wife took me to the local library where she read out the titles of audiobooks to me. I selected some of my favorite books, such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter, and more, and the audiobooks brought these stories to life in a way I had never experienced before. They helped me through the darkest period of my life and I fell in love with audiobooks. Once I regained my vision, I decided to pursue a career as an audiobook narrator instead of a writer. That's why I created Tall Tale TV, to support aspiring authors in the writing communities that I had grown to love before my ordeal. My goal was to help them promote their work by providing a promotional audio short story that showcases their writing skills to readers. They say the strongest form of advertising is word of mouth, so I offer a platform for readers to share these videos and help spread the word about these talented writers. Please consider sharing these stories with your friends and family to support these amazing authors. If we think of submerged cities, lost beneath the waves, we're probably most likely to think of Atlantis, that thought-experiment that took on a life of its own. Closer to home, there's the lost Welsh kingdom of Cantre'r Gwaelod, believed to lie between Bae Ceredigion and Ynys Enlli. Yet there are countless tales of submerged villages along both the west and east coast of England too, not to mention villages lost to the depths of lakes or reservoirs. Many of them share a preoccupation with drowned church bells continuing to toll beneath the water. Others tell stories of losses often assigned to divine retribution. So how do these villages appear in folklore? Let's take a look in folklore in this week's episode of Fabulous Folklore! In this episode of Basic AF, Tom and Jeff cover a mix of Apple news, including minor OS updates, Apple's immersive content plans for Vision Pro, and Submerged, Apple's first short film for the Vision Pro. They also touch on Jeff's new obsession—The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom on the Nintendo Switch. Here's what you can expect:No Apple Ring in Sight (for Now): Jeff reacts to a report by Mark Gurman suggesting that Apple currently has no plans for a smart ring. Though it's not official, Jeff shares his disappointment, having hoped for a wearable alternative to the Apple Watch.OS Updates and Battery Issues: The hosts discuss iPadOS 18.0.1 and watchOS 11.0.1, focusing on battery performance and the quirks of living with beta software. Notably, iPadOS 18 is now available again for the iPad Pro M4 after being temporarily pulled due to issues with bricking devices.Apple Vision Pro's First Short Film: Tom dives into his experience with Submerged, the first short film for Apple's Vision Pro. He describes the immersive World War II setting, where a submarine crew faces a torpedo attack, and shares his thoughts on the stunning visual details. Tom also notes how some close-up shots felt uncomfortably realistic in the Vision Pro, almost placing him in the characters' personal space. The movement inside the sub was impressive but occasionally unsettling, with fast dolly shots that made the immersive experience intense. Despite these quirks, Tom found the film visually captivating and hints at how future VR films could push boundaries even further.Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: Jeff gushes over his new favorite game on the Nintendo Switch, though he has no ability to remember the name of said game, therefore making up some other game that doesn't exist. (The Legend of Zelda: Heroes of the Kingdom? Sure, whatever you say, Jeff.) In The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, the true and actual name of the game, players take on the role of Zelda instead of Link, solving puzzles and exploring vibrant environments.New Apple Focus Features: Jeff gives a rundown on Apple's new “reduce interruptions” focus feature, explaining how it intelligently manages notifications to help reduce distractions.Question or Comment? I'm joined by guests Guy Serle, Ben Roethig, and Marty Jencius, Jeff Gamet and together we dissect the nuances and impacts of these updates. We kick things off by discussing the recent release of Vision Pro 2.1, the fourth beta update for developers. Both Guy and I notice that the update seems to be lacking significant visible changes. We speculate on the upcoming Mac virtual display support for MLB and MLS games while also acknowledging the essential fixes that the update addresses. Eric, a fellow developer, has opted to roll back to the public beta due to personal usability concerns, exemplifying a trend amongst beta testers. Next, we pivot to the implications of the recent release of Apple's first scripted immersive film, "The Submerged," which promises a unique storytelling experience leveraging the capabilities of the Vision Pro. Although none of us had the opportunity to experience it firsthand, we express excitement about its potential and the importance of regular content updates to retain user engagement. As we transition into our discussion on iOS updates, we emphasize the need for listeners to update to iOS 18.0.1 due to critical bug fixes and security patches. Guy shares his experience with the touchscreen issues on the iPhone 16 models, while I confess my decision to remain on the beta track despite some drawbacks. Our conversation naturally evolves into the new features awaiting users in iOS 18.1, including enhancements to Siri's functionality and new tools for spell-checking and grammar. We also dissect the introduction of wired Xbox controller support in the latest macOS and iOS versions, discussing its significance for gaming enthusiasts. From there, we explore Apple's move toward integrating Apple TV+ into the Amazon Prime Video ecosystem. This highlights Apple's strategy of reaching a broader audience and streamlining access to its content, a move that both Ben and I agree is vital for sustaining Apple TV+ growth. The episode's discourse doesn't shy away from the implications of new features such as satellite messaging capabilities in iOS 18, designed to enhance communication in remote areas. This feature, which allows users to send messages without a traditional cellular connection, sparks a thoughtful debate on the practical applications and potential overuse of such a technology during non-emergency situations. In the latter half of the episode, we touch on the retirement of long-time Apple executive Dan Riccio, reflecting on his contributions and the future of Vision Pro development under Mike Rockwell's leadership. Our conversation culminates with a rundown of compelling Apple TV+ series, including the upcoming season of "Shrinking," and the ongoing impact of shows like "Ted Lasso" and "Slow Horses," highlighting how these productions may shape the conversation around Apple's television strategy. This episode is filled with engaging insights and practical advice on how listeners can leverage the latest Apple technologies while contemplating the future direction of the company and its myriad services. We finish by encouraging our audience to stay connected and share their thoughts as we navigate this expansive technological landscape together. Are there moments when your life feels small? Take note of any patterns. Do you feel less than great whenever you get together with that one friend who seems to have a glamorous, exciting life? Or do you feel discontentment bubbling whenever you spend time on social media? SUBSCRIBE to our sister podcasts:Your Daily Prayer: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-prayer/Your Daily Bible Verse: https://www.lifeaudio.com/your-daily-bible-verse/ Full Transcript Below: What to Remember When Your Life Feels Small by Deidre Braley Matthew 18:1-4: At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying,“Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Does your life ever feel small? Mine sometimes does. Just last weekend, in fact, I had the unsettling experience of smallness at a country concert that was featuring a major artist. As the sun sank below the edge of the stadium, the crowd's anticipation mounted. When the singer finally ran onto the stage, donning his guitar and saluting the audience, the stadium erupted. Girls clutched each other and screamed. Phone flashlights turned into constellations amongst the pulsing galaxy of people. Tens of thousands of lips moved in unison to sing the opening song together. Submerged in this world of smoke and lights and adrenaline, I had the unsettling feeling of being small. A longing began to stir deep in my belly—something like an exhilarating hunger. I suddenly wondered what it would feel like to live in this alternate reality called fame. Back at home, I knew that laundry was piled on our bedroom floor, that our toddlers would be wanting pancakes in the morning, and that the dishes would be nearly toppling in the kitchen sink. My line of work, in comparison to rocking and selling out this stadium, seemed so humdrum and un-noteworthy that I could hardly stand it. As it turns out, this hunger I was feeling—this longing to know what greatness feels like—came about long before electric guitars and jumbotrons. The disciples felt it too. One day, they even asked Jesus, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” (Matthew 18:1) Jesus didn't name a rockstar. He didn't list off kings, or bible heroes, or professionals revered in their fields. Instead, he beckoned for a child to come and stand among them. “‘Truly I tell you,' he said, ‘unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me…'” (Matthew 18:2-5). Earthside, we perceive greatness as notoriety and wealth, power and fanfare. It involves being or having more than someone else. But in the kingdom of heaven? Greatness looks like humility, trust, and inclusion. Greatness looks like a child, turning to the Father for everything. If we align our life's work to what the world deems ‘great,' then our days will be filled with striving and discontentment. We'll be ever subjected to the fickleness of humanity. But when we align ourselves with what Jesus values—when we humble our souls and trust in the only one that is truly great—we are able to bask in an eternal greatness that gives our souls rest and contentment. So when we find ourselves caught in a pattern of discontentment, wondering when our time will come, or if anyone will ever notice us, or if our lives will ever possess that magnetic essence of greatness, let's come back to that image of Jesus, pulling the child near and saying,“This. This is what greatness looks like in my kingdom.” Intersecting Faith & Life Are there moments when your life feels small? Take note of any patterns. Do you feel less than great whenever you get together with that one friend who seems to have a glamorous, exciting life? Or do you feel discontentment bubbling whenever you spend time on social media? Once you are able to identify when, where, or what makes you feel “small,” you can develop strategies to help you fight the lie that greatness comes from what the world hails, like fame and wealth or power and position. These strategies could include: Limiting how often you expose yourself to these people or situations.● Memorizing Scripture to pray over yourself when you're feeling overcome withdiscontentment or inferiority. Surround yourself with others whose lives model humility and surrender to the Lord.● Finding solitude, then stopping to ask the Holy Spirit to reorient your priorities andremind you who are—and who he is.
