TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ DAHRAXT DAHRAXT is the techno project of the electronic music artist Alessandro Mannella ( formerly known as Mannella ). Italian-born and Berlin-adopted, he expresses his multi-faceted talent producing music, DJing and performing live. Apart from being heavily influenced by the UK techno sound, DAHRAXT's musical narratives oscillate between industrial techno and distorted electro soundscapes, all the way to the more mental techno textures. Moving at a young age to Ibiza, he crafted his DJ mixing skills performing regularly at important venues like Space and throwing illegal parties around the island. Not long after, he moved to Berlin and immediately caught the attention of many, playing at the iconic Tresor basement and shaking the dancefloors of other major clubs such as About Blank, Arena and Suicide Circus, as well as hosting events at the former Griessmühle. Eventually, as one of the founders of the multidisciplinary event project ENIGMA, he brought a brand-new event concept at Tresor Club. Besides Germany, DAHRAXT has made appearances at other influential venues across Europe such as Gare (Porto) and FOLD (London) among others. Touring overseas and taking part in the underground festival circuit, DAHRAXT has performed with the likes of Ancient Methods, Ben Klock, Detroit Techno Militia, Nene H, New Frames, Tommy Four Seven, Scan7, Sunil Sharpe and many more. His unmatched dexterity in bringing the crowd into his own visionary trip and the intensity of his DJ sets allowed him to also gain a residency at the techno party Vocoder in Mexico City (2018) and most recently at ARIA, London. As a long-time vinyl collector and supporter, in 2015 DAHRAXT founded two record labels: “Jtseries”, (a techno dancefloor-oriented imprint) and “PicNic34” (having a more experimental direction). On those, he has collaborated with Blawan, Cristian Vogel, Charlton, Kucera, Santiago Salazar, Tobias, Vladislav Delay and VSK to name a few. I'm still swamped with work, especially now that the semester has begun. New episodes will arrive later this fall. Until then, here is another bonus mix. It's probably my favorite mix I've ever done, made for Secret Thirteen, originally published in December 2014. S13 founder Justinas Mikulskis writes: “Secret Thirteen 139” is a picturesque and unique mix composed by Joseph Sannicandro. This mix is like a truly precious musical treasure every die-hard music lover could be searching for ages. In this over 1 hour long musical mosaic Joseph connects 55 pieces by his beloved and inspirational artists such as Tim Hecker, Vladislav Delay, Jon Hassell, Giuseppe Ielasi, Hue, Nicola Ratti, Machinefabriek, Klaus Schulze, MB, Steve Roden and many others, to form a complex, but at the same time a delightful soundscape. The opening and closing recordings by his The New Objective project tightly binds the overall mix's concept and mood. The mix radiates a strange musical luminosity, which guides the mind and the soul to the pure infinite satisfaction even when it is played in complete darkness. Divine ambiance, unexpected twists between music genres, fluid melodies and harmonious and thoughtful attitude to even the smallest details bring this mix to another dimension, a dimension where the nature meets man and his fundamental desire to perceive cosmos. As Joseph whispered, the mix could stand in parallel with Giuseppe Penone's metaphorical sculpture “The Hidden Life Within“. And it's quite a good example, because both, mix and sculpture, are based on the magical and fantastic groundwork, also the form, which could not be replicated. In the beginning we asked Joseph to interpret the outer space theme with his mix through his own perspective, but in the end the recording expanded into a much deeper, more metaphysical exploration of the whole universe with all it's phenomenons and wonders. Sly explains his creative process and his formula for making a hit song. Sly has worked with Grace Jones, Cyndy Lauper, Bob Dylan and every reggae and dancehall star in Jamaica. With his partner Robbie Shakespeare they are responsible for countless hits. They made a breakthrough on the U.K. pop charts with 1987's Rhythm Killers, an experimental funk/dance album produced by the equally prolific and boundary-breaking Bill Laswell. Active well into the 21st century, the duo produced hit singles by No Doubt, released dub albums like 2014's Underwater Dub, and collaborated extensively with artists ranging from British reggae singer Bitty McLean to Finnish electronic experimentalist Vladislav Delay.

It was a Saturday night when Vladislav Delay played the first LiveSoundtracks show in Barcelona. The choice of film, Aki Kaurismäki’s I Hired a Contract Killer, was Delay’s. Our intention was to highlight how beautiful the synergy between sound and image can be.And we choose a futuristic hotel design by Richard Roger for inciting enthusiasm. A few days after that night, Chris Mann wrote on Resident Advisor : “LiveSoundtracks will take the show on the road around Europe and offer more events in the future, and from the success of this outing, they’ll be something to look forward to.” After 10 years we can say he brought us luck. Throughout these years, we have produced numerous cultural events in Barcelona. We have been invited by festivals and universities around Europe. We have worked with renowned artists, DJs and musicians from all over the world. We won a contest and we became a festival. We have launched a course in soundtrack composition and we have started a radio show. During these years, we have experienced changes. We have changed to be more visible, to better communicate our ideology and to explore new expressions in art, through music and cinema. We have discovered that in order to move forward we need to step back to the origins, with an eye on the future.

Anacleto Vitolo A.K.A. AV-K / K.lust / Kletus.K part of several collectives such as X(i)NEON, Internos and Algebra del Bisogno, born August 2, 1985 in Battipaglia (SA), Italy. He began his musical career in 1998 as an Hip Hop DJ. Shortly after he became interested in music production, from the classical hip hop beat to the current mix of elements such as Industrial, Trip Hop, Glitch, Ambient, Noise, Experimental Electronic, Minimal and some New Wave influences. 2008 winner of “M.E.I. tech 2008” (Indipendent Labels Meeting – elettronic music section). In 2010 and 2014 took part in “FLUSSI 2010” festival sharing the same stage with some of the most important musicians of the contemporary electronic scene as Murcof, Thomas Fehlmann, Vladislav Delay, Retina.it, Emanuele Errante, Mokira, Mount Kimbie, etc. In 2013 signs a contract as Publishing Artist with FatCat. Experimental Kolkata based duo JESSOP&CO. pick a diverse and immersive selection of tunes for Wild City Mix #104. “We have no musical talent, but if we don’t do this, we will go crazy.” We first heard JESSOP&CO. after they sent us a private SoundCloud link with this cheeky imgur attachment. They’ve held our interest since then with the debut ‘সূক্ষ্ম’ EP and more recent live performances at REProduce’s Listening Room Sessions in cities across the country. The duo is, in their words, “inspired by the decaying/rotting, the macabre discoloration of this city and its inhabitants and the various other forms of malaise (particularly those which suddenly creep up on you as you are about to descend from your favourite form of conveyance or mode of intoxication)”. The duo employs elements of drone, noise and ambient in their music, producing some of the most foreboding, all engulfing walls of sound we’ve had the pleasure to listen to recently. JESSOP&CO.’s forward thinking, genre irrelevant mix #104 mix clocks in at a lengthy hour and forty minutes (relatively speaking) and had us completely immersed from start to finish. They’ve decided to exclude a tracklist but you can expect everything from ambient, glitch and a sizable dose of Warp-esque ‘IDM’ with music by the likes of Autechre and Vladislav Delay, to techno and even straight up King Tubby dub. This set was recorded live at Unsound Festival New York at The Bunker in Brooklyn on February 5, 2010. Better known as Vladislav Delay and Luomo, Sasu Ripatti's productions as Uusitalo are not as well known, but just as good. He was a last minute fill in for Tobias Freund at The Bunker party during Unsound, and he filled those huge shoes as well as anyone could.

It's a chilly early morning, and I my feet sink into the hard shell of a snow that built up over the night. The sun warms my face, but the air is crispy and dry. I hurry towards my destination, in time with the beat, on my headphone commute. The music compiled in this mix by Mr. Tom features some of my favorite ambient dub and ambient techno artists, like Vladislav Delay, Lulu Rouge, Yagya, Trentemoller, and Gas, so I couldn't resist from sharing it with you. Appropriately titled Polar, the music wraps cold and empty white noise, into deep thumps of the bass and endless delays, so characteristic of the genre.
