Once upon a time, in the heart of Transylvania, there was a mysterious place that people named “the Bermuda Triangle of Transylvania.” It seems like some evil creature may appear from behind a tree at any moment – there might even be ghosts and mysterious creatures that came from space, as stories said. It looks like no surprise that people are disappearing here. The Isla de las Munecas or the Island of the Dolls might look even creepier because it's home to hundreds of dolls hanging from the trees and scattered throughout the overgrown vegetation. 17 miles south of Mexico City is a small island, no larger than a football field, that has been collecting dolls since the 1950s. Isla De Munecas actually translates into Doll Island and is called The Island of the Dolls by English speaking people. Don Julian Santana Barrera claimed to have witnessed a small girl drown in the canal that surrounds the island and depending on which version you hear, it's either to appease the little girl's spirit, protect the little girl from demons in the after life, or honor her. Listen in as Samm and Amy discuss possible theories as to why Don Julian ended up amassing over 1,000 dolls on this island before his tragic and somewhat mysterious death in 2001. This week on Wow! That's Not Normal, Chanelle & Jensen talk about the incredibly creepy Island of the Dead Dolls. Also known as Isla de las Munecas. In the small city Xochimilco, just outside of Mexico City, there was a man named Don Julian who discovered the body of a young girl and then began experiencing paranormal accounts. He then found a doll in the spot that he found the young girl and decided to hang it on the island. As things got worse and worse, he decided to hang more and more dolls around the island for protection.
