To celebrate the release of my book The Next Workplace; Designing Dynamic Environments that Inspire Human Potential, I hosted a series of events in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney to start a bigger conversation on all things work, people & place. And how we can leverage one of our greatest assets, our Work Place, to elevate our human potential. Our first event was in Brisbane, hosted by Hall Chadwick, a past client of COMUNiTI. In Part 1 of our conversation, shared with you in the last episode, Director Rob Sendall and I were interviewed by Nadia Taylor, CEO of Mapien, another past clients of COMUNiTI, were we reflected on “Unearthing a Brand Story; How Hall Chadwick went back to its roots to redefine the Employee Experience”. Today in Part 2 of our Brisbane Launch conversation, Rob, Nadia and I are joined by Kate Hill, Corporate Real Estate at APA and Jessica Sharpe, Chief People Officer at Entain Aust, as we dive into a lively conversation. Through this conversation we discuss the role of the employee experience in our workplace and how brand experience shows up and the purpose of the workplace and how this supports their organisations to perform. We close out our conversation with an emotive conversation on the controversial 4-day work week, the opportunities and challenges whilst also taking a look at what flexibility can look like in varying service and product-based industries. Nadia Taylor and her all female fishing crew hit a very full Glenbawn Dam for the Family Bassin event in the Hunter. Like all of the competitors, in this catch and release tournament, they found there was a lot of water between the fish but the ones they did catch were trophy Australian Bass.

In this episode, Lindy Hughson, managing editor & publisher of PKN Packaging News, and Nadia Taylor, co-founder and director of tna Solutions, and patron of the 2021 PKN Women in Packaging forum, talk about diversity in the workplace and the benefits it brings. The discussion starts with the story behind tna Solutions' formation, its pioneering of packaging technology and overcoming early obstacles. Nadia, an emigrant to Australia, confirms that respect for different cultures and equality of people has been a key part of the organisation's operation since the beginning, including maternity policies and pay scales based on the role being performed regardless of gender, heritage, race or religion. We then move on to discuss the importance of mentors and inspirational role models, along with the concept of reverse mentorship where new skills can be learned from the young. This leads to a review of steps companies can take to support equality, including identification of biases and how to address them.We wrap up with a discussion of how tna Solutions is supporting young women in STEM to develop more female engineers and the charity efforts of the Nadia and Alf Taylor foundation which is helping young people in disadvantaged communities, especially young girls, through education, health care and social enterprise.------------------------------The PKN Podcast is produced by Southern Skies Media on behalf of PKN Packaging News, owned and published by Yaffa Media. The views of the people featured on this podcast do not necessarily represent the views of PKN Packaging News, Yaffa Media, or the guest's employer. “If in doubt, do it!” Putting off starting a family in exchange for your career, is a conversation that I have had many times with my female friends and colleagues. In this episode of Work Life by Design I'm chatting with Nadia Taylor from Mapien on her experience of shifting from thinking she didn't want children to integrating her new son Atlas not only into her career but also into her workplace. As a passionate advocate for returning mums to the workplace, I was fortunate enough to watch as Nadia navigate this experience successfully, returning to work with Atlas in arms at 2 weeks old. Nadia inspired me that it was possible to continue to operate a successful business and return to work with a baby with a little planning. As an Executive Director at Mapien, Workplace Strategists, Nadia shares with us her career journey of growing from a graduate to building a million dollar practice and how deciding to have a child was decision she had put off. We discuss the impact that a lack of role models can have on your perception of what is acceptable, the fear that stops us from asking for opportunities at work, along with the cultural shift that comes from having a baby in the office. If you are considering starting a family and how you can continue your career or are an organisation looking to embrace greater flexibility for your workforce, you need to tune into this episode! In this very first episode of Work Life by Design, I am pleased to be introducing you to Nadia Taylor. Nadia is not only an Executive Director at Mapien Workplace Strategists, she is also an amazing woman! Mapien have been on an transformational journey over the past 2years that has seen them evolve from a traditional, slow moving organisation to one that has rapidly adopted change, achieved a successful business merger and acquired several businesses. I have had the joy of knowing Nadia for about 4 years now. COMUNiTI have also had the extreme pleasure of calling Mapien one of our clients and the privilege of supporting them in this transformation that saw them achieve their highest financial performance in their 35year history only 6mths after moving into their new work environment. In this episode Nadia shares just how important it is to have a strong foundation of values in your organisation and the business value that can be achieved by measuring every decision against these values. Nadia has an extensive knowledge of leadership and people experience which she has combined with a hands on approach to growing a people focused business. She also loves to travel and explore new horizons, preferably with her 3 year old son Atlas by her side.
