Lauren Regula's first appearance with softball Team Canada came at the 1999 Junior World Championships in Taipei. She joined the senior national team in 2002, helping Canada to a ninth-place finish at the world championships. She made her Olympic debut at Athens 2004, starting five games and being in the winning pitcher in all three of Canada's victories.  Following a fifth-place finish at the 2006 World Championships, Regula missed the entire 2007 season with a wrist injury. But she was healthy enough to return to the Olympic Games at Beijing 2008, helping Canada to a fourth-place finish as she recorded two victories.  After the heartbreaking loss in the bronze medal game in Beijing, Regula retired and didn't pick up a ball for eight years. She started a family, having three kids. She has since been open about the postpartum depression she began to suffer from in 2012. It continued until 2018 when she says she hit “rock bottom” and finally got the help she needed in the form of therapy and hormone therapy. After a long road to recovery, she has said she feels like she has “a new lease on life”.  It was in 2016, while she was still struggling with postpartum depression, that Regula came out of retirement and pitched her way back to a starting role with Team Canada, winning a bronze medal at the WBSC World Championships. In late 2018, she suffered a small tear in her left hip labrum and did not throw again until she was invited to join Canada's training camp from which the 2020 Olympic team would be selected.  In her third Olympic appearance, Regula pitched 5.1 innings in three games. She struck out seven and did not give up a single hit or run as Canada won the bronze medal. Regula played collegiately at Oklahoma State University, primarily as a pitcher but also in the outfield when not on the circle. Over her four seasons with the Cowgirls she was a member of the All-Big12 conference team each year. In her senior season in 2003, she struck out 451 batters on her way to a 26-10 record, was awarded the OSU Female Athlete of the Year and named a First Team All-American. After having finished at OSU, Regula joined the National Pro Fastpitch league for two seasons. She posted the first no-hitter in Chicago Bandits history in 2005 on her way to a 17-1 record, earning Pitcher of the Year honours. In this episode, Lauren breaks down her struggles with guilt over being away for the Games, her love of her family, what gives her strength and drive, and shares the importance of perseverance in the face of hardship. She's such an inspiration, sharing lessons we can all apply in our every day life about the importance of showing up for yourself, surrounding yourself with people who also support you, and giving yourself the grace to be the best version of you that you can be.  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episode 197 For four seasons, Jessie Warren played third base for the Florida State Seminoles softball club. The 4-time All ACC player was consistently one of the most productive hitters in the lineup. In 2018, she led her club to their first ever Women's College World Series title beating Washington. Jessie was named the Most Outstanding Player after leading the team in eight different categories, including a .404 batting average, 21 home runs, 70 RBI and a .836 slugging percentage. In Game 1 of the WCWS, she made the play of the year in college softball, snagging a seventh-inning sacrifice bunt attempt on a diving catch to preserve their 1-0 victory. That catch was the No. 1 play on ESPN’s SportsCenter Top Plays and even got the attention of people like Kobe Bryant on Twitter. Her final game with Florida State, Jessie went 3-4 with a home run and 2 RBI to help the Seminoles to an 8-3 victory and their first ever NCAA National Championship. After her college career ended, Warren was selected seventh overall in the National Pro Fastpitch Draft by the USSSA Pride where she helped her team to another title, the Cowles Cup championship, defeating the Chicago Bandits 4-0. On this episode of the podcast, we talk with Jessie about 2018, winning the National Championship, dealing with fame, where her walk with Christ began, the spiritual bond that her Seminoles team built during their run to the title, and what the Lord is teaching her right now after an incredible year. Emily played college softball at Northwestern and continued on at the professional level with the Chicago Bandits, where her team has won two back to back championships. Emily is currently coming back from a concussion injury and is refreshingly open about her feelings of hopelessness and uncertainty of returning to play in the future. I really appreciated Emily's rawness. In our conversation Emily talks about: -how childhood bullying led her to fall in love with softball -where she gets the motivation to keep coming back after battling injuries for 6 years -why none of her teammates want to stand behind her in the autograph line -the Chicago Bandit's team culture that let them to back-to-back National Pro Fastpitch championship titles -the most unexpected and best place she traveled to with @BeTheMomentum,  a slapping program where she coaches across the country and empowers kids on and off the softball field -the gut-wrenching pain of not feeling like a part of the team while being injured and how she manages those feelings -her morning routine that must involve a Starbucks run And more.   If you are a regular viewer, then you know I went to Round Rock, Texas a few weeks back to watch the NPF Chicago Bandits play the USSSA Pride. This week I bring you an interview I did with the Chicago Bandits catcher Rachel Folden. The  Fastpitch TV Show   is sponsored by http://SoftballJunk.com. You can see more episodes at our website http://Fastpitch.TV. http://SoftballJunk.com is a great resource to find the perfect fastpitch softball bat just for you! Chicago Bandits catcher, Rachel Holden, takes some time to answer a few questions with her experience in the game of fastpitch softball. Rachel played baseball her whole life until the summer before high school and had always thought softball was a stupid sport, but ended up loving the sport and received a full scholarship to play in college. Her college experience was well appreciated and admits that it was tough at times. In High School she was given the opportunity to be a catcher and has yet to leave that position. Rachel grew up watching her brother play, as a catcher, and tried to mimic what he did as well as what she learned when she watched games in her free time. Rachel is from southern California so she felt right at home with the atmosphere we had in Texas and can't wait to come back for other games with her team!
