Mike embarks on the final arc of the 2016 run of Doctor Aphra comics; A Rogue's End including the Epilogue from Empire Ascendant and Doctor Aphra Annual 3. In this arc Aphra confronts Vader for one last time, explores ancient jedi ruins, gets some closure from both Tolvan and her dad Korin, meets Triple-Zero & BT1 with their memories erased and so much more! Annual 3 is a story involving Winloss & Nokk, a peculiar human/trandoshan couple who appears in Aphra 30 and Black Krrsantan even makes an appearance! These comics are set just before Empire Strikes Back, around 3 ABY. They were all written by Simon Spurrier - Aphra 37-40 & the epilogue had Caspar Wijngaard as the artist with Lee Loughridge as colour artist, while Annual 3 had Elsa Charretier as artist with Edgar Delgado & Jim Campbell as colour artists. Issue 37 & Annual 3 were released in October 2019, issue 40 & Empire Ascendant were released December 2019 and the trade paperback collection was released February 2020. This week, Mike tackles the one-shot comics from the era of the sequel trilogy; the Age Of Resistance! This episode features bios & stories about Finn, Rose Tico, Poe Dameron, Rey, Amilyn Holdo, Maz Kanata and BB-8, who each have their own comics that Mike goes through, along with the many connections to other SW media! These stories are all set between 28-34 ABY (a bit before the sequel trilogy, bar Rey's story). Finn, Poe, Rose & Rey's stories were all written by Tom Taylor, with Ramon Rosanas as artist and Guru eFX as colour artist. The AoR special has 3 shorter stories within it; “Maz's Scoundrels” which was written by Tom Taylor, with Matteo Buffagni as artist and Chris O'Halloran as colour artist, “The Bridge” was written by G. This week, Mike tackles the next volume of Doctor Aphra comics; Worse Among Equals! Aphra and Triple-Zero are on the run with explosives in their necks while Dr Cornelius Evazan records their every move, featuring imperial propaganda, force-wielding corpses and the monster hunting couple Nokk & Winloss! The 6 main comics take place around 1ABY, Annual 2 was likely between 0ABY-1ABY. All issues were written by Simon Spurrier, issues 26-31 had Emilio Laiso as artist, Rachelle Rosenberg as colour artist and Andrea Broccardo also as artist on issue 31 while Caspar Wijngaard was the artist for Annual 2. Issue 26 was released November 2018, issue 31 was released April 2019, Annual 2 was released September 2018 and the trade paperback collection was released June 2019. The last week on SWCIC, episode 54, Mike tackled the comic starring Caleb Dume/Kanan Jarrus from Star Wars Rebels, detailing how he survived order 66, why he changed his name, what happened to his master Depa Billaba and the differences between the event shown in this 2015 comic and in the first episode of the Bad Batch animated show! However, a fight occurs, resulting in Runeard's death. The battle enrages the elemental spirits of earth, fire, water, and air of the forest. The spirits disappear and a wall of mist encases everyone in the forest. Runeard's son Prince Agnarr barely escapes with the help of an unknown savior.○ Three years after her coronation,[b] Elsa celebrates autumn in the kingdom with Anna, Olaf the snowman, Kristoff the ice harvester, and Kristoff's reindeer Sven. When Elsa hears a mysterious voice calling out to her, she follows it and unintentionally awakens the elemental spirits, which forces everyone in the kingdom to evacuate. Grand Pabbie and the Trolls colony arrive to Arendelle and Pabbie informs that they must set things right by discovering the truth about the kingdom's past.○ Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven embark to the Enchanted Forest, following the mysterious voice. After the mist parts at Elsa's touch, the air spirit, in the form of a tornado, appears and sweeps everyone in its vortex. Elsa stops it, forming a set of ice sculptures. The sisters discover the sculptures are images from their father's past and that their mother, Queen Iduna, was a Northuldra who saved Agnarr. They encounter the Northuldra and a troop of Arendellian soldiers who are still at conflict with one another before the fire spirit appears. Elsa discovers the spirit to be an agitated magical salamander, and calms it down. Elsa and Anna form a truce between the soldiers and the Northuldra by explaining that their mother was Northuldran and their father was Arendellian. Elsa later learns the existence of a fifth spirit who will unite people and the magic of nature.○ Elsa continues to head north with Anna and Olaf, leaving Kristoff and Sven behind. They find their parents' shipwreck and a map with a route to Ahtohallan, a mythical river told by their mother to contain all explanations of the past. Elsa decides to travel alone while sending Anna and Olaf away to safety. Elsa encounters and tames Nokk, the water spirit who guards the sea to Ahtohallan. Reaching Ahtohallan, Elsa discovers that the voice was the call of Iduna, and that her powers were gifted by the magic of nature because of Iduna's selfless act of saving Agnarr, making Elsa the fifth spirit. Elsa then learns that the dam was built as a ruse to reduce the Northuldra's resources because of Runeard's dislike of the tribe's connection with magic, and that Runeard was the one who initiated the conflict by killing the leader of the Northuldra. Elsa sends this information to Anna before becoming frozen, due to venturing into the most dangerous part of Ahtohallan, which in turn causes Olaf to fade away.○ Anna receives Elsa's message and concludes that the dam must be destroyed for peace to be restored. Anna finds and awakens the sleeping gigantic earth spirits, and lures them towards the dam, which is destroyed by boulders hurled by the giants. Elsa thaws out and returns to Arendelle, stopping a flood from the destroyed dam. As the wall of mist disappears, Elsa reunites with Anna and resurrects Olaf. Kristoff proposes to Anna, who accepts. Elsa explains that she and Anna are now the bridge between the people and the magical spirits. Anna becomes the new Queen of Arendelle, while Elsa becomes the protector of the Enchanted Forest who regularly visits Arendelle as peace is restored in all the lands.○ In a post-credits scene, Olaf visits Elsa's ice palace and tells Marshmallow and the Snowgies[c] about the events he experienced.○ Film Trivia - IMDB■ Young Elsa is voiced by Mattea Conforti, who portrayed Young Anna in the Broadway adaptation of Frozen.■ In the beginning when young Anna and Elsa are playing with snow figurines, a figure resembling Baymax from "Big Hero 6" can be spotted in addition to one resembling Totoro from "My Neighbor Totoro”■ In a flashback, Prince Agnar says he's reading a book by "some new Danish author." Such is Doctor Aphra Annual #3, a gem of a book that gives a bit more detail about Nokk, Winloss and Aphra's newfound ... respectability? We're also bidding farewell to the weekly series Star Wars -- Allegiance and Star Wars Adventures: Return to Vader's Castle, as both conclude their ... dare we say it? ... epic runs.The former formed a solid foundation of backstory ahead of December's release of The Rise of Skywalker, while the latter satisfyingly and consistently delivered great stories that twisted suspense, intrigue and, yes, a dash of comedy, too.Star Wars comics out this week (Nov. 6), include:_ Doctor Aphra #38.
