Onze traditionele week op de Wadden zit er weer op. Alles was hetzelfde en dat was goed. Een eclips met friet erbij blijkt een ideale avond uit te zijn. Maar er is ook verdrietig nieuws, en dat heeft iets met kip Tineke te maken, en the long way home. Aaf is alweer op weg naar haar volgende vakantie in Berlijn, en dat noopte tot de grote vraag van deze week: ben ik daar te oud voor? Naar de club, in een rij staan, gekeurd worden door een door man die Sven heet: kan ze dat nog aan op haar 51ste?Ben je ooit officieel te oud voor dingen - kun je bijvoorbeeld op zeker moment in je leven nog zeggen dat iets helemaal uitgespeeld hebt? Een luisteraar zit met ouders die extreem veel helpen met verbouwen, maar ook elke te plaatsen plank en deur van bemoeierig commentaar voorzien. En in de hoek der natuur zit een sprinkhaan, die deze week ook nog belandde in de snavel van kip Lida. En zo komt alles samen.

Am 6. September steht Sachsen-Anhalt vor einer historischen Landtagswahl, bei der die AfD erstmals stärkste Kraft werden könnte. Ministerpräsident Sven Schulze liegt in Umfragen deutlich hinter seinem Herausforderer Ulrich Siegmund zurück. Gordon Repinski begleitet den CDU-Politiker auf einem Spaziergang durch den härtesten Wahlkampf des Landes. Im Wahlkampfendspurt setzt Schulze auf konkrete wirtschaftliche Lösungen und warnt eindringlich vor seinem AfD-Konkurrenten. Heute geht es ins Remstal, nach Großheppach zum Weingut Bernhard Ellwanger. Mein Gast ist Sven Ellwanger, der den Betrieb gemeinsam mit seiner Schwester Yvonne führt. Auf den ersten Blick wirkt dieses Weingut bodenständig, gewachsen und angenehm unaufgeregt. Im Gespräch zeigt sich aber schnell, wie viel Bewegung in diesem Betrieb steckt: Sauvignon Blanc, Junges Schwaben, Bio-Weinbau, Piwis, Spontangärung, starke Privatkundschaft, Rotweinambition – und eine Region, die noch immer mit alten Klischees zu kämpfen hat. Im Zentrum der Episode stehen drei Weine: ein Muskat-Trollinger Rosé, ein Roter Riesling und eine Lemberger-Syrah-Cuvée. Der Muskat-Trollinger Rosé zeigt, dass Duftigkeit, Frucht und Leichtigkeit nicht banal sein müssen. Sven beschreibt ihn als einen der wichtigsten Weine des Betriebs – trocken ausgebaut, aromatisch, frisch und mit einem kleinen Anteil maischevergorener Partie, der dem Wein zusätzlichen Grip gibt. Der Rote Riesling erzählt eine besondere Geschichte: Im Weinberg wurde eine Mutation in einer alten Rieslinganlage entdeckt – eine Fruchtrute mit weißen Rieslingtrauben, eine andere mit rötlichen Beeren. Aus diesem Zufall wurde eine eigene Selektion, die heute als ernsthafter Wein im Sortiment steht: körperreicher, fülliger und säureärmer als klassischer Riesling, aber dennoch mit eigener Riesling-Prägung. Die Lemberger-Syrah-Cuvée führt schließlich mitten in die Frage, wie sich Württemberg heute verändert. Lemberger bringt kühle Beerenfrucht, Frische und regionale Identität; Syrah ergänzt Würze, Körper, Pfeffer, dunklere Noten und Struktur. Im Glas begegnen sich regionale Herkunft und internationale Rebsorte erstaunlich selbstverständlich. Außerdem sprechen wir über Svens Zeit in Neuseeland, Sauvignon Blanc und Fumé Blanc, über die Gruppe Junges Schwaben, über Bio-Weinbau, Bodenaufbau, Humus, Begrünung und Pflanzenschutz, über den Gravitationskeller, über ProWein, Wine Paris, Export, alkoholfreie Produkte und die Zukunft eines Familienweinguts mit großer Sortenvielfalt. Eine Folge über ein Württemberg, das sich leise verändert hat – pragmatisch, beharrlich, bodenständig und im Glas sehr überzeugend.

It's three days of panels, parties, contests, vendors, celebrity guests, live music -- everything you could want as a horror fan. This will be my sixth year hosting panels at the convention, but I've been going to Flashback much longer than just these six years. I love it.This year's Flashback features a salute to 30 years of the Scream franchise, celebrates Halloween II, a Night of the Creeps reunion, features first-time Flashback appearances from Henry Thomas, Steven Weber, and the Silent Night, Deadly Night Santas, and even has Obsession co-star Megan Lawless making her convention debut (I get to host her panel on Sunday! Come on out!). Plus, this year sees the world premiere of a brand new Full Moon movie (relevant to my interests!), in-costume photo opps, Alan Howarth playing the score to Halloween II LIVE along with the film, a tribute to Svengoolie (the greatest horror host of all time), and so much more.One of my favorite things about Flashback -- besides all the cool guests and the chance to spend the weekend surrounded by horror stuff and horror fans -- is that it's a family-run convention and really feels that way.
