Welcome to my podcast "The Voice of English" The purpose of this podcast is to encourage English learners and also English teachers. He was born in Japan however he has a longstanding affinity with Australia. He completed his Bachelor of Economics in Japan and worked in sales in Tokyo. After working for 6 years, he decided to move to Australia in 2011 to have a more relaxing life. Since this time he has been working as a Japanese language assistant teacher in Perth. His first foray into acting was as an extra in the movie "Paper Planes", which turned out to be a pivotal experience for Toshi. Following this, he decided to audition for a pilot episode of "Top Knot Detective" (TKD) and managed to obtain the lead role. After the TKD movie was aired on SBS2 in Australia, Toshi and TKD received positive feedback and he has been pursuing more acting opportunities ever since. He recently started teaching English. Consistently baked and severely depressed, Nina Oyama moves to Melbourne to work on a fancy TV show. Nina is a stand up comedian and writer. She has performed at various festivals across Australia, as well as on TV on SBS2’s Stand Up @ Bella Union, C31’s About Tonight, In The Zone 2015 and Tonightly with Tom Ballard. Nina also has writing credits for You’re Skitting, The Chaser’s Election Deskand Squinters. In 2017, Nina was a recurring cast member of multi award winning show Utopia, playing Courtney the receptionist, and she was also a finalist in ABC’s Freshblood comedy web series competition. Nina writes for Tonightly, and is developing a comedy pilot for the ABC, called The Angus Project. In 2014 Dan raised more than $50,000 through crowd-funding to make A Rational Fear into a web series. James Colley is a Young Walkley nominated satirist and creator of The Backburner on SBS Comedy. James Colley notes that Lenin was famously difficult to amuse. Kate McCartney is a writer/director, illustrator, animator and performer. James Jericho founded satire news website The Shovel in 2012 after realising no-one else was going to publish his exclusive exposé about the real use for George Brandis’s bookshelf or Tony Abbott’s target to cut Australia’s reputation by 30% by 2020. Now read by hundreds of thousands of Australians every month, and featured weekly on The Sydney Morning Herald, The Shovel has become the must-read masthead in Parliament House. James is The Shovel’s head writer and editor, and is a regular commentator on satire’s place in contemporary Australia. In June 2015 he kick-started a national campaign to find Bill Shorten. Jordan Shanks started Friendlyjordies with a focus on political and social satire. in 2013 and since then it has grown to an audience of more than 100,000 people on Facebook and YouTube. He writes articles for SBS Comedy and a weekly Friendly Jordies podcast that occasionally makes it to the Top Ten Australian podcasts. Rebecca Shaw (aka Brocklesnitch) is a freelance writer, podcaster and creator of the parody Twitter account @notofeminism.
