Everyone wants at *TROPHY*, nobody wants a *TRIAL*….Life’s battles aren’t glamorous, but what if our “trophies” are found not after the trials, but through them? Today, we’re starting a brand-new series at Freedom, "Trials and Trophies", and we’re going to get real about the messy, unexpected, sometimes downright frustrating stuff we all go through. We want to help you find Freedom and come out stronger on the other side!

Pastor Marc Sharp continues with part 7 of the series looking at 15 Psalms (Psalms 120-134) designated as “Songs of Ascents”. These Psalms are God’s guidebook for right worship in the church. Last week we learned that the people of God cannot be moved, that God always faithfully defends his people. Today, we see this immovability is not enough. As an outgrowth of this steadfastness, we’re promised a payoff of joy and fruitfulness. Though we have many trials, and must enter the kingdom “through many tribulations”, by the work of the Holy Spirit our lives should be joyfully productive and filled with rejoicing! Times of difficulty come to us all. The Psalmist demonstrates how we can deal with that inevitable state: Remembrance of God's goodness and provision, earnest prayer, and perseverance through the tears.

It can be hard to know how, when and why to ask for things from God. Psalm 126 helps us know if we are requesting in the right ways and what to do when a request is fulfilled by our Father in Heaven.
Wake up; God's not mad at you. Laugh it up; God's not mad at you. Fess up; God's not mad at you.

We can navigate present adversity by remembering the past, asking God to restore our fortunes, and remembering that He is the Great "Reverser."

Rev. Darin Stone teaches from Psalm 126 in the 7th message from a series of sermons from the Psalms of Ascent (Psalms 120-134). This psalm serves as a reminder of how good God is to his people as He turns our tears into joy. God's grace is inexhaustible. Joy comes from remembering what God has done in our lives and what He promises to do now and in the future. The Christian life is a dependent not self-reliant life. When drought comes we need to remember past joy and pray for restoration, anticipating an answer.
