SHOW NOTES:   In Podcast Episode 310, “Courage to Lay Hold of Your Calling,” Kim discusses the calling the Lord had placed on Elisha. When Elijah was taken up to heaven, Elisha “picked up Elijah's cloak,” which was symbolic of his laying hold of the Lord's calling. What is your calling? Have you laid hold of it or are you trying to avoid the entire idea of it?   Our focal passage for this episode is 2 Kings 2:13-18 with 13 as the focal verse:   13 Elisha picked up Elijah's cloak, which had fallen when he was taken up. As we wrap up 2024, this passage gives us three commitments we would do well to make as we close out one year and start a new one.

Rubbernecking. It seems like every time we take a trip and have to use the Interstate, we run into some traffic that has basically come to a stop...if not, it's crawling! Why? When we finally get up close enough to see what the problem is, it's on the other side of thew Interstate! People are driving by “Rubbernecking” and it is causing a traffic slow down, a pile up, for miles back! Looking back slows you down! Paul says, “Quit rubbernecking people! And keep your eyes on Jesus!” When we continue to look at our past, the enemy can use it to discourage us and to keep us from moving forward in the kingdom of God.
