We all have things we need to do in life, to this week. We all struggle with letting less important things crowd out the more important things. We need to focus on what is most important. Jesus seems to be saying the act of remembering is how we keep the main thing the main thing. We need in our lives the discipline of remembering.

Pastor Marc Sharp continues with Part 20 of the current series that is an epic journey through the New Testament Gospel of Mark, verse by verse. The book of Mark was most likely the first one written, and is generally attributed to John Mark, a close associate of Peter, and also of Paul and Barnabas. The Gospel of Mark is all about Jesus and the good news (Gospel) of the kingdom of God. Who was Jesus really, and why exactly did he come? In the last several weeks we have heard how Jesus proved his divine nature and his authority over sickness and death, learning about his redemptive work. In a previous message, we looked at Mark 6:7-13, in which Jesus commissions the 12 disciples to go throughout Galilee proclaiming the message they heard him preach. Today's narrative picks up the story, telling us the 12 completed their mission and returned to give an account of what they did and taught on their journey. Will we also be called to Jesus to give a thorough accounting of all he sent us to do and proclaim? The story concludes with the miraculous feeding of 5,000 men (plus women and children), taking notice of great compassion, great unbelief, and great provision. In today's message, Pastor Marc Sharp begins a new series from the seven letters written to seven churches found in the beginning of the book of Revelation (last book in the New Covenant). The author of each letter is Jesus. The first letter is written specifically to the church in Ephesus, a city in modern day Turkey. Each of these letters is a microcosm of the message of the entire book, assuring believers of the closeness, intimacy, care and reign of Christ. Christians are warned to avoid worldliness, idolatry and compromise. A glorious future is described for those believers who are faithful to the very end! The Lord's Supper. Jesus said, "As often as you do this, remember me." We are reminded every time we come to the Lord's table of the great mercy of God. God didn't have to do anything for us, but He did! We should be reminded of Christ's great sacrifice. No man took His life from Him, He gave it willingly. He died for us, that we might live. That should never be common place.

Hope Fellowship Church ========== Remember Pt. 1: The Commonality of Community Communion Service Today ========== 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, "This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me." In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes. Philippians 2:1-3 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 1. In Community, we have in common Encouragement in Christ. 2. In Community, we have in common the Comfort of God’s Love. 3. In Community, we have in common Participation in the Spirit. 4. In Community, we have in common Affection and Sympathy (Mercy). Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Philippians 2:4-8 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 5. In Community, we have in common the Centrality of the Cross. 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ? The bread that we break, is it not a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. Throughout the season of Lent, the sermons will feature the poems of George Herbert (1593-1633), a Welsh poet and Anglican priest who wrote between the Age of Shakespeare and the Age of Milton. Five poems, published in 1633, formed the basis of Ralph Vaughan Williams “Five Mystical Songs,” written between 1906 and 1911. On Palm Sunday, the choir will present all five of these songs. Today, using the poem “Love Bade Me Weclome,” Dr. Larry R. Hayward examines communion in the context of Presbyterian worship. The Scripture lesson is 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.
The Church is the means by which Jesus establishes the Kingdom He showed us how this ministry of reconciliation will turn out. Jesus gave the church a rite by which we can remember our calling We look forward to the culmination of God’s Kingdom
