In this message, we will explore the reasons why bad things happen, including the consequences of our own decisions, the actions of others, and the reality of living in a fallen world. We will also discuss how God can use our pain for good and how our experiences can equip us for deeper ministry. Ultimately, we will find hope in the truth that Jesus, who suffered more than we can imagine, is with us in our pain. He offers us hope and healing, reminding us that we are not alone in our struggles. Join me as we navigate this challenging yet essential conversation about faith, suffering, and the goodness of God.00:00:00 - Introduction00:00:19 - Personal Experiences and Examples00:01:05 - The Story of Charles Darwin00:02:21 - Addressing the Audience's Pain00:03:15 - Understanding Faith Amidst Pain00:04:07 - The 'But' in the Bad00:04:42 - Unpacking the Principle of Goodness00:05:43 - The Problem with Perception of Goodness00:07:33 - Goodness and Moral Judgement00:08:55 - The Absolute Goodness of God00:11:50 - The Origin of Pain00:11:54 - The Implication of Good People00:12:57 - The Curse of Sin00:13:40 - Consequences of Our Decisions00:15:45 - The Consequences of Sin00:16:41 - The Impact of Other People's Sin00:17:29 - The Role of Free Will00:18:48 - The Influence of Satan00:21:17 - Living in a Fallen World00:22:30 - The Hope Amidst the Bad00:24:04 - The Eternal Perspective00:25:18 - God's Ultimate Good00:27:30 - Equipping Believers for Deeper Ministry00:28:43 - The Suffering of Jesus00:31:45 - Finding Hope and Healing----------Follow 2911 Church on Social Media:FACEBOOK: https://facebook.com/2911churchINSTAGRAM: http://instagram.com/2911churchWEBSITE: https://www.2911church.com/GIVING: https://2911church.churchcenter.com/giving----------Subscribe to 2911 Church's Podcast:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6SiLmBl5TcTGD63CTNwU4f?si=98186b325cf94ee6Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/29-11-church/id1456498714

Twisted bands of rock, once soft as clay, now tower in rigid beauty. How did they come to be? Mainstream geology says time and pressure worked their slow magic over millions of years. But what if there’s a faster, more powerful explanation rooted in biblical history? This striking look at folded strata challenges deep-time thinking, offering strong geological evidence that these layers were laid down rapidly and bent while still wet. Discover why the global Flood described in Genesis remains the most compelling answer.

If God is a good Father and creates a good world, why does evil exist? The Catechism addresses this profound and often painful question. Fr. Mike helps us understand how to reconcile sin, evil, and suffering with God's loving Providence. He assures us that while God does not remove evil, he does redeem it, offering himself as the solution. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 309-314. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. From the 2025 Asian American Mental Health Conference "Navigating Transitions with Faith and Resilience: Asian American Mental Health Across Life Stages." This lecture is by Sangeetha Thomas, titled "Liminality and Relational Wholeness in a Fallen World," recorded January 17, 2025. Find out more about the conference here: https://ptsem.edu/academics/centers/center-for-asian-american-christianity/2025-mental-health-conference/ Abstract: Social disconnection and isolation have become increasingly prevalent in the United States. For Asian Americans, these experiences exist within a larger context of migration, racialization and intergenerational trauma. In addition, life transitions, such as career decisions, marriage and health-related challenges could introduce disagreements and conflicts that exacerbate disconnection and alienation. Focusing on themes of Holy Saturday, this talk focuses on spiritual formation as it occurs in these “spaces in between.” Drawing on psychological research and theory on attachment, this session focuses on the dynamic interplay between interpersonal relationships and spiritual growth as we navigate liminal spaces. This is a public episode. If you would like to discuss this with other subscribers or get access to bonus episodes, visit caacptsem.substack.com
I don't know what it is, but life has just felt… hard. People misunderstanding one another. Feelings getting hurt. Work to do. Family to care for. Trying to balance it all while also cleaning the house and completing other mundane but necessary tasks. All piled on top of one another and it's hard not to wonder if something deeper is going on. Is this what spiritual warfare looks like in 21st century America? Is the enemy trying to just wear us out with all the compounded grief and piled-up hardships that we can never escape from? Or is God trying to test us, refine us in this season? Is there something in us that needs to be removed, and He is using this situation to do a spiritual surgery within us? What do we do in the face of hardship and trial? How does God want us to respond? That's what we're going to talk about on today's episode. I want to review some of the common reasons we experience hard times in this life and then share with you how I believe God is calling us to respond to each of them. Title: Peace in a Fallen World Text: Luke 19:41-44 Chris Hefner Sermon Theme: In order to find a real solution for the brokenness in our world, we must discover the root problem that causes brokenness. Two Possible Roots of Brokenness (lack of peace): Brokenness is easily identified by the injustice(s) done to us. Brokenness is correctly identified by the injustice we've done to God. Three Reasons We Can't See the Solution for Human Brokenness We're blinded by the pomp and circumstances around us. We're blinded by the injustices and sins done to us. We're blinded by the pride and idolatry within us. Please reach out to us with any questions info@wilkesborobaptist.org
At the heart of the origin-of-life question lies an intricate puzzle: how could the building blocks of life — DNA, RNA, and proteins — have come together without intelligent guidance? Without both DNA and proteins present, neither can function to create a living cell, leading to a “chicken-and-egg” dilemma that challenges purely natural explanations. Dr Don Batten dives into the science behind these questions, exploring the barriers to life’s spontaneous origin and examining claims that evolution bypasses the origin issue. His analysis reveals that life’s complexity, from amino acid chirality to the programming of DNA, remains an unsolved mystery, echoing the need for an intelligent Creator. This episode article was written by Dr Don Batten and podcast produced by Joseph Darnell out of the CMI-USA office. Become a monthly contributor at our site. Send us a textToday's podcast is a single episode (i.e. "one-off") which is based on 1 Timothy 1:1-11. In this passage, we read Paul's words to Timothy. His words are full of encouragement. His words are directive (as a mentor to a mentee). His words bring warning against falsehoods and false gospels. These short eleven verses point the believer to find accountability, to be discerning, and to preach the Gospel with our lives on display each day. May this episode be an encouragement for you to live out your faith...boldly!
In today's sermon, “Faith in a Fallen World,” we dive into Revelation 18 and the call for believers to “come out” of Babylon. Babylon represents any worldly system that stands in opposition to God's truth, and its fall reminds us that no human power or culture can withstand His judgment. We explore practical ways to live faithfully in a culture often at odds with biblical values—engaging with our world without compromising our faith, understanding our identity in Christ as called, chosen, and faithful, and learning to cultivate a biblical mindset.
We're called and equipped to lead those God has sovereignly placed us around while we follow Jesus in overcoming the fallen world. This can seem daunting and discouraging, but we have the testimony of the saints and the church, and the hope of victory through Jesus, God's revealed Word. In this episode, Pastor Matt O'Mealey continues to remind us how to follow Christ and help others through 2 Timothy 3. Get Connected! https://linktr.ee/reachtulsa

The story of Esther reveals with vivid detail the reality that we live in a fallen world. How should God's people respond when faced with such brokenness, sin, and destruction? In Esther chapter 4, Mordecai responds to the declaration that Hamen will destroy all the Jewish people by tearing his clothes, putting on sackcloth and ashes, and crying out with a loud and bitter cry. This is the art of Lament.
