This week we cover two more miracles: Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman
A sick woman is healed by HER faith, and a dead girl of a synagogue leader is raised by Jesus.
This morning we reached the end of our summer series “Luke: Good News for Everyone”, as Richard helped us to look at Luke 8:40-56, where Jesus is good news to a synagogue leader and a sick woman. The post Luke 8:40-56 – A Synagogue Leader and a Sick Woman appeared first on Elmdon Church, Solihull.
In this story, we learn that Jesus showed his power over disease and death, and one day he will defeat them for all who believe. ✧ Check out more resources in The Biggest Story Curriculum ✧ Follow The Biggest Story on Instagram ✧ Watch The Biggest Story Animated Videos! ✧ Sign up to receive weekly emails about the new story each week!

Luke 8:40-56 New International Version (NIV) Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman 40 Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him. 41 Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus' feet, pleading with him to come to his house 42 because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying. As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him. 43 And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years,[a] but no one could heal her. 44 She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. 45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” 46 But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” 47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. 48 Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” 49 While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don't bother the teacher anymore.” 50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don't be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” 51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child's father and mother. 52 Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.” 53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!” 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. 56 Her parents were astonished, but he ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened.

When a sick woman came to Jesus, she thought healing was all she needed. She was wrong. Join Charles Morris on today's program to reflect on our great need for healing and redemption.
Jesus is interrupted three times as He continues to show the people who He is and why He came.
In this particular account of Jesus's ministry, we see quite a contrast between the healings of Jairus's dead daughter and the woman with the issue of blood. In this, we also see the simple faith of full dependence on Christ. Let's have a look at what happened!
Mark 5:21 When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake.

Despite constant discussion of grace and forgiveness in church life, it's still easy to hold on to regrets, shame, and self-condemnation. Our past seems too dark to wipe out, our sins too great to be covered. And yet this passage shows the power of Christ's healing to make us clean. Christ heals the bleeding woman in a display of divine power and purity, allowing her to return to the temple and to worship in community. We see our own story in this passage—Christ extends his salvation to us and overcomes our sin, making us pure and holy in his sight, which allows us to live freely and fully in Christian community. In this fourth sermon in the Waymaker series, Pastor Bogdan will make the case that God making a way for someone else, doesn't mean He won't for you. JESUS STORIES Jesus, a Dead Girl and a Sick Woman Tyler Scott, Lead Pastor March 20, 2022
Luke 8:40-56 tells of two people, a woman and a young girl, who needed Jesus. Through His healing, He gave them life and through His responses, He gave them hope. Pastor Cana conveys that Jesus is the giver of life and reminder of hope, no matter how unreasonable. We can respond to Him in faith.
Dr. Bruce McRae continues the series on Gospel Conversations.
Steve Veale is joined by Julie Rape and Caiti Woods to dive deeper into Sunday's message titled "Jesus Raises a Dead Girl and Heals a Sick Woman".
