Investigative Producer David Bernknopf and I traveled far and wide to try to formulate a fair definition for the phenomenon known as "populism." We learned its surprising roots in Europe and the US (refugees, illegal immigration and more...) and why so many establishment figures hate populism, no matter how popular it is. Russia is finally at the northern boarder of Israel. Turkey and Iran (the old arch enemies from the days of the Persian and ottoman empires) have become unlikely allies in the land of Syria. Sudan’s president on Sunday (Dec 6) became the first Arab League leader to visit Syria (Washington Post). What more, US has pulled out of Syria? What does this all mean?

I cannot keep up with my lists and calendars and THINGS TO DO before 2019. I don't want to miss the beauty of this season because of the crazy I feel in my schedule. So Jessica Turner was just the woman to call upon to help us all find a little mores space and balance. Jess juggles a million things- family, full time job, author life, speaking, blogger, THE LIST KEEPS GOING. And somehow she still gets so much done and has a great spirit about her. I think you're gonna love some of her tips and ways that she has prioritized certain things to make space for other things. Already feels like my Christmas is getting less stressful. Here is the Stretched Too Thing Time Log that we talked about in the show. If you want to do it with us, start on Sunday (Dec 16)! And make sure you grab Jess's new book Stretched Too Thin to gift to the women on your Christmas list. . . . . . http://anniefdowns.com #thatsoundsfunpodcast ... join in the conversation wherever hashtags are welcome. :)

This episode of the Mucho Soul Show pays tribute to Paul Trouble Anderson who passed away on Sunday Dec 2nd. It's a replay of our opening Poolside Party Set at The Southern Soul Festival recorded back in late June in Montengro. It's also the last time we partied and played alongside Paul. We'd been travelling most of the day by plane and then mini bus with P.T.A alongside Phil Asher, Jake Holloway, Dom Servini The Mighty Zaf and a few others and had arrived late into the night but just in time to play our opening launch party set. It had been a very long day and we really didn't expect Paul to get there but somehow he found more Trouble energy and amazingly made the party and then proceeded to hold court in typical PTA style by dancing, joking and partying with everyone present. I think we played our set with Paul in mind that night with many Jazz Funk, Boogie and Trouble favs from back in the day mixed with some Soulful and Latin House and even a bit of Luther (track 4)... one of Troubles fav singers. Paul danced all night!... and that memory is one we'll always cherish now. This ones for you Paul. Mucho Soul & Love.
